Plugin was using merged jar (fat-jar) before, so there were no jar dependencies before... I tried to create build.xml in https://github.com/exbin/bined-jedit-plugin but it seems I have some issues with paths or something. I have only limited experiences with ant, so I would be grateful for any advice how to pass jars into target jar. Hi, I see 2 issues with packaging the plugin: 1. It is mandatory that you list libraries bundled with the plugin in src/main/resources/BinEd.props: plugin.className.jars Contains a whitespace-separated list of JAR file names. Without this property, the plugin manager will leave behind the external JAR files when removing the plugin. See http://jedit.org/api/org/gjt/sp/jedit/EditPlugin.html 2. I prefer that you use ant and the build-support project so that I can build against chosen of jEdit, create the source code bundle and upload to plugin central , see http://jedit.org/users-guide/plugin-implement-building.html. I can help with setting up a working build.xml if needed. Deps would be then downloaded from maven repo using ivy. See https://gitlab.com/jedit/plugins/xml/-/blob/master/ivy.xml?ref_type=heads Please can you look into it? --- **[plugin-central-submission:#1078] BinEd 0.2.1** **Status:** open **Group:** None **Created:** Mon Jan 15, 2024 05:39 PM UTC by Miroslav Hajda **Last Updated:** Tue Jan 23, 2024 06:53 AM UTC **Owner:** Eric Le Lay {{{ BinEd 0.2.1 Source: https://github.com/exbin/bined-jedit-plugin tag v0.2.1 Announcement: initial Plugin Central release Requires Java 1.8 Requires jEdit 04.05.00.00 Short Description: Binary/hex editor plugin based on BinEd library. I'm not a lawyer either, so I asked the experts at gnu.org, since it is their license. Below are my questions and answers, which are pretty much as Björn mentioned. Bottom line is all we need to do to change to GPL 3 is go through the code and documentation and change all the license headers to GPL 3. Then the beanshell code can be upgraded, but of course, it will have its Apache license as a header in each of the beanshell files. > I'm hoping you can help us sort out a licensing issue, I think it's > straightforward, but would like some confirmation. > I'm one of the admins for the jEdit project (www.jedit.org), an editor > for programmers. I think we need to change to GPLv3 > to do that as GPLv2 isn't compatible with the Apache license. Correct: GPLv2 is incompatible with the Apache License version 2.0, but GPLv3 is compatible with the Apache License version 2.0: https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.en.html#apache2 > To change our project to GPLv3, is it simply a matter of changing the > license as mentioned in your FAQ? Yes. As per section 9 of GPLv2, which states: "If the Program specifies a version number of this License which applies to it and ``any later version'', you have the option of following the terms and conditions either of that version or of any later version published by the Free Software Foundation." > Then we can use the newer beanshell code with the Apache 2.0 license? Yes, because of the compatibility between GPLv3 and the Apache License version 2.0, as above. > Do we need to get permission from the hundreds of individual > developers that have worked on the project over the years?
