@kerik-sf Any thoughts on getting the release kicked off? - **status**: open --> closed-fixed --- **[bugs:#4132] freeze when deleting a directory and some children (race condition)** **Status:** closed-fixed **Group:** normal bug **Created:** Tue Feb 27, 2024 08:09 PM UTC by Eric Le Lay **Last Updated:** Tue Apr 02, 2024 05:11 PM UTC **Owner:** Eric Le Lay There is an issue with `VFSManager.error` calling `ThreadUtilities.runInDispatchThreadAndWait` because `org.gjt.sp.jedit.browser.VFSBrowser.delete(VFSFile[])` is already blocking the EDT waiting for all `DeleteBrowserTask` to complete. This happens when one selects a folder and one or more files inside it, presses Delete and confirm. A big-ish file hierarchy is needed, so that jEdit tries to delete a file that is already deleted when deleting the root folder. It then freezes Steps to reproduce: 1. Prepare the test folder ``` ~> rsync -rvt jedit/releasing/sandbox/BinEd-0.2.1.1/ jedit/coucou/ (...) sent 45.139.767 bytes received 12.270 bytes 90.304.074,00 bytes/sec ~> find jedit/coucou/ | wc -l 869 ``` 2. in jEdit's VFS browser, navigate to jedit 3. select coucou + 5 entries inside it (BinEd, BinEd/images, BinEd/lib, BinEd/src, build.gradle) 4. press Delete 5. confirm 6. jEdit is frozen 7. using a debugger, dump threads stacktrace Failed to reproduce with a single folder with a single file inside it. Tentative fix: replace `runInDispatchThreadAndWait` with `runInDispatchThread` It works fine in this case: 2 errors got condensed in a single error dialog. --- Sent from sourceforge.net because jed...@li... is subscribed to https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/bugs/ To unsubscribe from further messages, a project admin can change settings at https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/admin/bugs/options. Hi there, just a small status update. While I was preparing the release, I stumbled upon that Mac user on the users list not able to start jEdit. It turned out, this affects all users on such newer Macs with arm architecture, so that they are unable to start jEdit. Due to that I want to fix that issue before doing the release. Unfortunately, that user stopped responding mid-investigation when I had it half-working for him. Fortunately, I now got my hands on such a new Mac and was able to reproduce the issue there. So I can now finally properly investigate and fix the issue and then kick out the release. Though, I'm right now first fixing our web services, most of which were down due to the recent PHP upgrade on SourceForge project web. Once I fixed, those, I'll fix the bug, and then roll out the release, because with non- or half-working website, it is also not too helpful to create a release imho. :-) Cheers Björn Am 17.10.2023 08:29, schrieb Eric Le Lay via jEdit-devel: > Le Fri, 13 Oct 2023 23:09:03 +0200, > Vampire <Va...@jE...> a écrit : > >> @Eric >> I see you have committed for it, so is that sufficiently fixed now? > Hi, > yes, it fixes the issue. Checked in and tagged "Templates-5_1_0" after OK from Steve Jakob. --- **[plugin-bugs:#1925] Templates plugin** **Status:** open **Group:** **Created:** Mon Mar 11, 2024 10:00 AM UTC by Martin Raspe **Last Updated:** Mon Mar 11, 2024 10:00 AM UTC **Owner:** nobody Hi Steve, for my personal needs I made some modifications your "Templates" plugin, fixing a few bugs and improving the user interaction. Here is a list: - keyboard bindings for template actions were not initialized - keyboard shortcuts for templates were not functioning before opening the Plugins->Templates menu - replaced the serial naming scheme for template actions; now shortcuts are no longer reassigned when new templates are added - template accelerators were not saved - added missing title and message properties for accelerator dialogs in dockable - improved usability of accelerator option pane Now I feel my changes are stable and might be useful to all jEdit users. What do you think: Should I just check the changed code into the SVN repo and prepare a release as described here: http://plugins.jedit.org/releasing.php ? Or would you like to see/try my changes first? Hi Martin, I haven’t been involved with jEdit development for some years. If you’re satisfied that your changes are working properly then I’d say go for it, check it in and create a new release. --- **[patches:#634] Build failing due to JavaDoc linting under recent OpenJDK 19+ (except Ubuntu)** **Status:** open **Group:** **Created:** Fri Mar 08, 2024 08:42 PM UTC by Mike Clark **Last Updated:** Fri Mar 08, 2024 08:42 PM UTC **Owner:** nobody **Attachments:** - [build.xml_javadoc.patch](https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/patches/634/attachment/build.xml_javadoc.patch) (4.4 kB; text/plain) Build is failing due to JavaDoc linting under recent OpenJDK 19+ (except Ubuntu). This patch is on one file, build.xml: * disables JavaDoc linting in build.xml * moved the core of target `generate-javadoc` to a new target `nodeps-generate-javadoc`. This new target can be run standalone (after compiling) which makes it faster to iterate on testing changes to the JavaDoc (in case someone wants to take on fixing the JavaDoc lint errors). * `generate-javadoc` now `<antcall>`s `nodeps-generate-javadoc` where it used to contain the logic inline * the core `compile` classpath is now pulled from a globally defined path id, instead of defining the path inside the target. `compile` was always creating a globally referenceable path id, but that's inconvenient if you want to run or write a target that doesn't call compile. --- Sent from sourceforge.net because jed...@li... is subscribed to https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/patches/ To unsubscribe from further messages, a project admin can change settings at https://sourceforge.net/p/jedit/admin/patches/options. VFSManager.error is called by a lot of VFS code but I haven't reproduced the error in other cases. Running: - jEdit trunk 25703 - openjdk version "11.0.22" 2024-01-16 - ArchLinux --- **[bugs:#4132] freeze when deleting a directory and some children (race condition)** **Status:** open **Group:** normal bug **Created:** Tue Feb 27, 2024 08:09 PM UTC by Eric Le Lay **Last Updated:** Tue Feb 27, 2024 08:09 PM UTC **Owner:** Eric Le Lay There is an issue with `VFSManager.error` calling `ThreadUtilities.runInDispatchThreadAndWait` because `org.gjt.sp.jedit.browser.VFSBrowser.delete(VFSFile[])` is already blocking the EDT waiting for all `DeleteBrowserTask` to complete.
