Hey John, Are you saying reinstall gnuplot AND X11? I'm pretty sure X11 came preinstalled? And this might sound but how would I uninstall it? Also, gnuplot works when I run it from the X11 window which I guess is a good sign? Hey guys, I am searching for the best way to save a dataset produced by my simulation program. My problem is that I want to plot a "rescaled density profile". The Dataset looks like the following: all strings are replaced by the simulation values. 0 length length2 length3 x1 rho(t1,x1) rho(t2,x1) rho(t3,x1) x2 rho(t1,x2) rho(t2,x2) rho(t3,x2) x3 rho(t1,x3) rho(t2,x3) rho(t3,x3) x4 rho(t1, x4) rho(t1,x4) rho(t2,x4) ... I can plot the unscaled density profile at time 3 by plotting ' plot "./datfile" u 1:4' But now i want to rescale my x-axis to 0-1. That means I want to ' plot "./datfile" u ($1/length3) : 4' Do one of you have any idea how to do it? As alternative I have the length written in a second file looking like the following: # time length number .... t1 lengh1 t2 length2 t3 length3 But I have no idea how to access it. I've dug around for a solution to this problem in the FAQ and elsewhere with no luck. I'm still relatively new to gnuplot so it's very possible I have missed something. Thank you in advance for your attention. Here's the issue: I am trying to write a .gpl file that will automatically grab the correct data points from a data set I've produced, for a variable number of data points. More specifically, I am creating gif images of vector field plots on a 2-d lattice that can vary in size, e.g., 32x32 or 64x64 lattices. I'd like to be able to automate the process so that I do not have to alter the .gpl every time I change my program parameters. I need the automation to do two things: deal with changing lattice sizes and produce .gif's with varying numbers of frames. Here is an example of what I have at the moment: set title "t=1" plot "<(sed -n '2,101p' vecgif)" using 1:2:3:4 with vectors filled head lt rgb "black" set title "t=2" plot "<(sed -n '104,203p' vecgif)" using 1:2:3:4 with vectors filled head lt rgb "black" The above is a snippet from my current .gpl script that produces a .gif animation of a 10x10 lattice at two different times. The problem is that if I want to change the lattice size I will have to change the row numbers in both lines, and if I want say 3 frames instead of 2, I have to manually add in another command. I would like to avoid having to do this, if possible! Assume the values on the x-axis looks like 0 1 2 ... 10 90 ... 100 600 ... 640 If I use "set xrange [0:640], then there are two gaps and the y-axis value for 0...10 are squeezed. In short I want to remove the following ranges from the plot 11 .. 89 101 ... 599 One possible solution is logarithmic scale but I need to represent the data values on a linear axis. Hi In the manual it is stated enhanced enables enhanced text mode features (subscripts, superscripts and mixed fonts). See enhanced (p. [*]) for more information. blacktext forces all text to be written in black even in color mode; However in the postscript terminal, I see that the points sizes are much ticker than x11. I use set term post eps enhanced color blacktext size 3.1,2.2 solid "Times-Roman" 12 plot "delta" u 6 every ::2::80000 title "data" with points pt 7 ps 0.7 However the point size is similar to "ps 3" in x11.
