I am using gnuplot 4.4 patchlevel 4 (compied via homebrew) on Mac OS X
10.7.5 (GCC 4.2.1).
The following snippet should produce a series of points, all with
their errobars. However, this is the output that it produces instead:

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I have tried "smooth unique," but it did not work for me. For example, the data file is shown as follow. 1 10 2 15 3 1 4 15 5 30 I want plot column 2 as y values in order of the values. That is, the first y value is 30, the second y value is 15, the third value is 15, and so on. I can do so by sorting the file by column 2. The file is sorted as follows. 5 30 2 15 4 15 1 10 3 1 Then I plot the sorted file by using: plot 'datafile' using 2 w linespoints Please kindly let me know how to use "smooth unique" to do so. Not quite the same thing. Adding minor tics on the r axis was trivial; it only required adding the r axis to the set of existing axes to which minor tic processing is applied. But there is no "theta" axis, and no data structures are maintained to describe it. So introducing commands that refer to theta would involve writing new code and adding new data structures to support it. Following on from that....: Also, as I'm coding a (LabVIEW) wrapper for gnuplot, it strikes me polar plots would have a flatter syntax, more closely related to X-Y plots, if there were "thetatics" and "mthetatics", such that "set grid polar" could follow similar syntax to XY plots, without the currently required exception of passing the radial tic spacing.... Hey folks! I've been using/abusing gnuplot for years, no problems
that the excellent manual and demos haven't answered. I still
worry about the dependence on poorly supported libgd, but no
problems so far with that, either. Good job, and thank you,
no specific problems to report here, and thank you again!
I sometimes take the plots out of gnuplot and use libgd to
scribble on them (in for a penny, in for a pound!). Or povray.
I make a whole bunch of images in a directory, then stitch
them together with png2swf into SWF/flash (urk!) animations.

The launchloop website is creative commons share-and-share-alike
with attribution. Feel free to copy the code, remix it, and
use any license you want. I would appreciate getting back any
rewrites that turn my spagetti code into better examples, but
