Original function has a jump at x=0. Formally, nothing like vertical line should be drawn at x=0. The reason for "incorrect" drawing has been already pointed by Tatsuro. 2. Correct solution is to define TWO functions: f(x) = x<=0.0?-1.0:1/0 g(x)=x>0.0?1.0:1/0 and plot them both, say plot [*:*][-1.1:1.1] f(x) lw 2 lc "black", g(x) lw 2 lc "black" Now you have a plot which is indeed correct. Hello, Gnuplot assigns an index of 0 to the first line of the data points. For example, these data points 1000 2000 3000 are interpreted as (0,1000) (1,2000) (2,3000). Problem is that when I run "set logscale x 2", it automatically discard the first line, 1000, so it plots (2^0,2000) (2^1,3000) How can I tell Gnuplot to "plot x=0 as normal and set logscale x 2 for x>=1" ? You may want to repeat the for loop for the 1:3 plots.
Something like this:
plot for [i=1:10] sprintf("File_%d",i) u 1:2 w l title sprintf("File_%d,
Col2",i) , for [i=1:10] sprintf("File_%d",i) u 1:3 w l title
sprintf("File_%d, Col3",i)
The title is just to make clear what you have plotted.
Maybe there are other ways to do it.
But is it what you were looking for?

Hi,
Using Gnuplot 4.6 I'm trying to plot multiple data from multiple files
on one graph. Lets say in each file I have 3 columns and I want to plot
2 and 3 against 1 (x axis), to compare each column (2:1 and 3:1) between
files . I'm using 'plot for' construction:
plot for [i=1:10] sprintf("file_%d", i) u 1:2 w lines u 1:3 w lines
The problem is that the graph shows column 2 and 3 values just for the
first file being processed, for the others only last column is
presented. Is there a way I would be able to present all columns for all
files?

I have a data file produced by the C programming language as: x .1 .3 .4 .56 .1 .2 .1 .3 .76 .3 .4 .2 .2 .43 .6 .7 .4 .3 .67 in which the first row (.1 .3 .4 .56) corresponds to the values of x-axis, first column is related to the y-axis (.1 .3 .5) and other values correspond to the z-axis for each x and y values. For example, the .76 is the weight of point (.56 , .1). I want to plot this 2D matrix file as a 2d picture. I tried this command plot "file" matrix using 1:2:3 every :::1::1 w image and plotted it. My problem is that Gnuplot use row and column numbers for x- and y-axis values not values on first row and column. When i use command plot "file" binary matrix w image gives the error "Read grid of zero width". Any help will be highly appreciated. Hamed Ahmadi |
