Hi, Thanks for your support!! It is powerful and easy to implement. Does the following give the desired result?
reset
splot "Data1.dat" u (0):0:1 w i ls 1,\
'' u (0):0:1 w l ls 1 not,\
"Data2.dat" u (1):0:1 w i ls 2,\
'' u (1):0:1 w l ls 2 not,\
"Data3.dat" u (2):0:1 w i ls 3,\
'' u (2):0:1 w l ls 3 not
Replace "Data1.dat" etc. with your filenames.
Continue with the terms (0),(1),(2),... according to your number of files.
It draws the data with impulses and again with lines in order to look
like the example you mentioned. Maybe there is a simpler way...

Hi everyone,I have multiple files of data each with only one column of data. What I am looking for is to plot all data in files in one plot to be look like the plot in the link http://gnuplot.sourceforge.net/demo/surface1.17.pngI don't want to merge these files in file of multiple columns.I think there is something to plot these file in x-y and select z values for each file but I cannot find that. Please advise ! Cheers Bahaa |

Some time ago, I also searched for a horizontal histogram. It seems that
it doesn't exist in gnuplot.
The workaround I am still surviving with is "with boxxyerrorbars" and no
painful rotations...
Try the following code:
reset
# set title "Téléop"
set encoding utf8
set terminal wxt size 600,350
set xrange [0:30]
set yrange [*:*] reverse
plot 'data.dat' \
u (0):($0):(0):($2+$3):($0-0.4):($0+0.4):ytic(1) axes x1y1 with
boxxyerrorbars fs solid lc rgb "red" t "à envoyé",\
'' u (0):($0):(0):($2):($0-0.4):($0+0.4) axes x1y1 with boxxyerrorbars
fs solid lc rgb "green" t "envoyer",\
'' u ($2+$3):0:2 with labels offset 2,0 tc rgb "green" not,\
'' u ($2+$3):0:3 with labels offset 4,0 tc rgb "red" not,\

I want to make an horizontal stacked histogram with GNUPlot.
I read I have to make a vertical one first then make a rotation with ImageMagick's Convert or G'Mic.
Here is my actual code:

# set title "Téléop"
set encoding utf8
set terminal windows size 350,600
set xtics nomirror offset char -1 rotate by 90 right font "verdana,8" enhanced
set ytics mirror rotate by 90 offset 41
# set y2tics
set style data histogram
set style histogram rowstacked
set style fill solid border -1
set boxwidth 0.75
set offsets 0, 0, 15, 0
plot 'data.dat' \
using (column(0)):($2+$3):2 with labels offset char -1,0.5 rotate by 90 tc rgb "#21A52E" notitle, \
'' using (column(0)):($2+$3):3 with labels offset char -1,1.3 rotate by 90 tc rgb "#FF3F3F" notitle, \
'' using 2:xtic(1) lc rgb "#21A52E" title 'envoyé', '' using 3 lc rgb "#FF3F3F" title 'à envoyer'

"Catégorie 7" 0 0
"Catégorie 8" 22 2
"Catégorie 9 abcdefghijkl" 4 0
"""
* I don't like the "set ytics offset 41" trick I used. Is there a better way to show the ytics on the right side? With y2tics?
* I don't get where there is a massive offset under the graph depending on the content length of the xtics. How can I improve this?
* I still have to rotate the legend. Can't seem to do it with "set key rotate by 90". Do you know a way to done it right?

Hi all, I managed to succesfully build gnuplot 5.1 on OS X El Capitan. I use interactive terminals a lot, therefore I configured it with the wxt and qt terminal. They both produce plots but the interactive window does not seem to work properly. If I click on any icon in the window or try to zoom nothing happens unless I do "replot" in the command window, in which case all the actions I have tried to perform so far are processed at once. Did anyone experience the same? By googleing around I found out that things seem to work if you add "; pause mouse close" to the plotting command. Can't this be changed? Regards |

An explicit tic label overrides an auto-generated one,
so you can just add explicit blank tic labels at 0:
set ytics add ("" 0)
set xtics add ("" wherever)

Dear all,
Suppose I have done
set key reverse right
plot "ABCD.dat" with lines lw 4 lt rgb "black" title 'ABCD', "ABCDEF.dat" with lines lw 4 lt rgb "black" title 'ABCDEF',
we will get 2 cureves with color bar and title text will occur in the top right of the window, and the thickness of the color should be same on the curve lines.
My first question is, is any way we can get get the color bar 10 times thicker (or much thicker) than the cureve line?
My second question is, will you please tell me how to have the title text aligned from the first letter, i.e., in the top right of the figure, the title text will occur like
ABCD
ABCDEF
By the gnuplot default method, in the top right of the figure, the title text did not align from the first letter, but from the last letter, i.e., the default title text will occur in the figure window as following
ABCD
ABCDEF
I am looking forward to getting a reply from you.

Dear All, I open a gnuplot window, and do plot "ABCD.dat", it gives a figure outplut. And if I click to change "Gnuplot (windows id : 0)" to the full laptop screen, the curve part occupies about 3/4 of the whole window (here we call it format A). Then I open another gnuplot window, and then also do plot "ABCD.dat", it also gives a figure outplut. And this time if I click to change "Gnuplot (windows id : 0)" to the full laptop screen, the curve part occupies100% of the whole window (here we call it format B). Besides, for format B, the font of the default title "ABCD.dat" was much smaller than that of format A. Here the main issue was, it is difficult to control if we repeatedly redo the above plot process, which time it will give the format A output and which time it will give the format B output. So will you please tell me why we do the same repeat but it gives 2 different out put format, and will you please tell me the extra command to control how can we get the format A output and how can we get the format B output? Suppose your list of values is in the file E2.dat and you want to plot these at x=2 (maybe you have other files of values to plot at x=1, x=3, etc). Here's one way to do it: set log y width = 0.5 thickness = .05 set xrange [0:4] plot 'E2.dat' using (2) : (column(1)) : (width) : (thickness) with boxxy On Mon, Mar 21, 2016 at 2:34 PM, Patrick Alken <al...@co...> wrote: > Hello, > > I have some eigenvalues from a matrix, and I'm trying to reproduce > the figure shown here: > > http://postimg.org/image/kkrdnplqb/ > > IE: I want to plot a short horizontal line for each eigenvalue with a > log-scale on the y axis. What is shown by a command
kpsewhich VERSION
?
Anyway check your file "VERSION".
The messages
! Text line contains an invalid character.
<read 1> L
.text 0`.data ...
l.93 \read\fileGpVersion to \gpVersion
definitely say that the file "VERSION" contains an invalid character.
Usually the content of "VERSION" is simply like
5.1

Hello Today I am off and tries building gnuplot on windows according to the instruction by Bastian. https://sourceforge.net/p/gnuplot/support-requests/199/ Build process almost went well. (A point for wxt terminal. This will be discussed in the above.) However, while building gnuplot.pdf I have met the following latex error. *************************************** ! Text line contains an invalid character. <read 1> L .text 0`.data ... l.93 \read\fileGpVersion to \gpVersion ? x шн,ax шн,a ************************************* \read\fileGpVersion to \gpVersion is found at docs/titlepeg.tex at line 93. I am using the MikTeX 2.9. Any suggestions? Tatsuro |

I suppose you could fake it and add a thick rectangle of the same color over the key's thin line. It seems like it would be inconvenient for many plots, but if you only have to do one, and the thick color bar in the key is really that important, that might work… In the 'Set-show' section of the manual, look for 'Object', and then in that, 'Rectangle'. > On Mar 19, 2016, at 5:10 PM, Derek Lamb <de...@bo...> wrote: > > Hi Brett, > > For your first question, I don't know that this is possible with Gnuplot, but I have only been using it for a short time myself—maybe somebody more experienced has an idea. Hi Brett, For your first question, I don't know that this is possible with Gnuplot, but I have only been using it for a short time myself—maybe somebody more experienced has an idea. The manual for Key says "[Each] entry contains a plot title and a sample line/point/box of the same color and fill properties as used in the plot itself." For your second question, you want the option "Left" to "set key". gnuplot> set key reverse Left gnuplot> plot "1.dat" with lines title 'short title', "2.dat" with lines title 'slightly longer title' To get answers to your questions, I had to read the documentation… it is very thorough! best, Derek > On Mar 19, 2016, at 4:00 AM, Brett <bre...@16...> wrote: > > Dear Derek, > > Thanks for the message. I don't understand your question. If I set lw to 20 or I set lw to 0.1, the 'ABCD' text stays exactly the same, when using the Aqua terminal with Gnuplot 5.0. It might help to know: what version of Gnuplot are you using? what terminal are you using? what did you try? where in the documentation did you look and not find your answer? Dear Derek, Thanks. If we do plot "1.dat" with lines title 'ABCD', the thickness of the color bar is corresponded to the text 'ABCD'. Is any way we get think color bar and thin ABCD' text by the gnuplot? Brett At 2016-03-17 21:36:12, "Derek Lamb" <de...@bo...> wrote: >You want to look at the many many options for 'set key'. You want to look at the many many options for 'set key'. See the gnuplot manual: if you have the PDF of version 5.0, 'set key' starts on pg 129. You can get your first (well, almost your first) request 1 blackbar 200 redbar by doing 'set key Left' before your plot command. You can get your second request with 'set key reverse' best, Derek > On Mar 17, 2016, at 6:29 AM, Brett <bre...@16...> wrote: > > Dear All, > > > Suppose I have 1.dat and 200.dat. Dear All,
Suppose I have 1.dat and 200.dat. Whe I input
plot "1.dat" with lines lt rgb "black" title '1', "200.dat" with lines lt rgb "red" title '200',
For the output figure, the "black" bar is after txt "1", and the "red" bas is after "200". Is any way the text "1" followed by the "black" bar can align vertically with "2" of "200" followed by the "red" bar, just something like following:
1 black bar
200 red bar
In addition, is any way the color bar occurs before the title text, at the same time the "black" bar followed by title text "1" align with the "red" bar followed by title text "200", just something like following:
black bar 1
red bar 200
I am looking forward to getting a reply from you.
