maybe your VALUEs were too small? I am trying to rotate my xtic labels by 45 degrees. I can do this fine when xdata is not set to "time". If "set xdata time" I cannot get the labels to rotate. Hello,
The following command
pause -1 "Show this message"
puts up a dialog box with buttons named OK and Cancel.
I would like to branch based on whether the user pressed
on OK or Cancel. Can this be done and, if so, how?
(Help shows the use of "pause mouse key" followed by
checking for MOUSE_KEY, but I would like to use "pause -1 ["<msg>"]
and check for press of the OK or Cancel button.)

Hello, I'd like to represent some 4D data and am having trouble convincing gnuplot to do it. The data consists of locations in a 3-dimensional volume, e.g. (r, theta, phi), with a value associated with each location. I'd like gnuplot to make a 3D scatter plot, color each point according to its value, and display a color scale. From the manual it seemed like the way to do this would be: set cbrange [range of values] set log cb to color points on a log scale, and then use palette cb to make the colors go as I want: splot "density31.dat" using 1:3:2 with points lt palette cb $4 (if you're curious, the positions are actually in spherical coordinates using a slightly different mapping than the one in gnuplot, hence the out-of-order columns.) The problem is that palette cb will apparently only take a constant value as an argument, so the command above fails, giving me an "undefined value" error on the argument to palette cb. (The command works fine if I replace the column argument $4 with a constant value, but then all the points are the same color.) I can probably come up with a way to use "rgb variable" to do this, but then I don't get a color scale. There were several similar questions to this already on the newsgroup but most of them had either no response or a minimal (and pessimistic one). Is there a way to get the output I want from gnuplot (maybe with rgbformulae?) or should I give up and use a different program? I have limited access to the newsgroup but if I am able to work out the method of doing this I'll summarize it and document it on my personal website and post a link to the group, so please reply by email to me. I'd like to graph the vector <a b c> passing through (x0 y0 z0),
expressible parametrically by x = x0 + at, y = y0 + bt, z = z0 + ct.
Intuitively, I should be able to give gnuplot something like:
set parametric
splot x0 + a*u, y0 + b*u, z0 + c*u
but it doesn't seem to work; what am I missing?

You didn't read 'help yerrorbars' carefully enough. You appear to have x:y:ydelta_up:ydelta_down data, but that's not what gnuplot expects. Change your data or see "help using" for how to have gnuplot change them for you. |

Sadly, I am no gnuplot expert. I did what you likely did and read the=20 instructions ("help errorbars", etc). From the gnuplot help information it= =20 is clear that 4 columns SHOULD work as you expect. I quickly threw togethe= r=20 a datafile that contained 4 columns of "data" with the last 2 intended for= =20 minus and plus y error numbers. Plotting thus, 'plot "./test.dat" using=20 1:2:3:4 with yerrorbars' produces a nonsense plot. The x and y data is=20 plotted properly but the two y error columns are, like you experience,=20 plotted separate from the actual xy data (though the plus and minus y error= =20 bars are correct). Same result if I simply do 'plot "./test.dat" with=20 yerrorbars'. Answering my own question (see below): You can bind a key that will align the x2range to the xrange simply by typing this (or putting it in your .gnuplotrc): bind "=" "set x2range [GPVAL_X_MIN:GPVAL_X_MAX] ; replot" Now, each time you hit the "=" key the x2range is adapted to the xrange (you need to redo this after each zoom). The zoom facility of the x11 window acts on the xrange and yrange coordinates and the x2range and y2range coordinates 'follow', but not necessarily one-to-one. Like this the "=" key will force the one-to-one correspondance.
