I'm trying to draw the contour of a surface by mean of line levels (set
contour...) and colours (pm3d map).
All works fine but I'm not able to change the lower limit of the range of
the colour scale (it put by default 0.8 as lower limit altough I defined 0.5
as lower limit). The upper limit works fine. I post you the script and a
part of the input data.
Thanks for the help

hello there, i need your help. i have a data set of four coulumns and i'd like to plot them with asymmetric yerrorbars. so what i am doing is plot 'dataset' with yerrorbars which should do it. what is happening is, that the errorbars are drawn, but not at the datapoints but somewhere in the graph without datapoints. am i doing anything wrong???? thank you for your help. blooopsi -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/errorbars-tf4479517.html#a12773003 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Sorry, my question is if there is some authomatic way to set these labels . I want also to make a suggestion. I think that gnuplot could be very useful in topography and hidrology applications but to make it more powerful you should include the possibility to draw non-regular mesh (for instance by defining the boundaries by means of polylines and creating the grid inside them) Thanks=20 Paolo Hans-Bernhard Br=C3=B6ker-2 wrote: >=20 > trinka wrote: >> I am using splot to plot the contour of a 3d surface. Hello,
I am using the following to plot over 500 rectangles:
plot [0:50] -10*x
set object 2 rect from 10, -65 to 6, -143
set label 3 at 10, -65 "1" front
replot
pause mouse key "rectangle 1 - hit tab to clear";
if(MOUSE_KEY == 9) reset
set object 4 rect from 21, -65 to 17, -143
set label 5 at 21, -65 "2" front
replot
pause mouse key "rectangle 2 - hit tab to clear";
if(MOUSE_KEY == 9) reset
set object 6 rect from 30, -348 to 6, -387
set label 7 at 30, -348 "3" front
replot
pause mouse key "rectangle 3 - hit tab to clear";
if(MOUSE_KEY == 9) reset
<etc>
So after each rectangle is added to the plot, the user
is allowed to examine the plot for as long as needed.
He then has the option to add another rectangle to
the plot or to clear the plot and then add another
rectangle.
1) Is there a better way to do the User Interaction?
2) Also, when the user is examining the plot, how to
support allowing him to zoom-in into user-specified
regions?
3) The only use for the very first plot line is to
to specify the size of the canvas. What's a better
way to do this?
Thanks,
--Suresh

Why is it that every new user of gnuplot falls into this trap of thinking that "replot" is the only way of plotting two multiple files in a single diagram? Is it really so hard to find out out from "help plot" that the following should work: plot "first_data_file" with lines, "second_data_file" with lines |

Hi, I am trying to plot multiple data files to a cgm file so that I can include it in a MS document. In gnuplot terminal I type: set terminal cgm set output 'output_file_name.cgm' plot "first_data_file" with lines replot "second_data_file" with lines when I load the cgm output file in MS word, only the first data file shows up in the plotting. I noticed that the cgm output file size increases as I re-plot the second data file, however it only shows what was plotted with the "plot" command. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a solution? By the way, when I set the terminal as x11 I can see all data file plots on the figure!!!!! I would appreciate all help to solve this... Regards, |

km4hr wrote: > I have a gnuplot that I would like to include in an email message. I prefer > to display the plot when the user opens the message. That's generally impossible these days --- and for a good reason, too. Any user running an email client on, say, Windows, in "automatically display attachments" mode these days would be criminally negligent. Their PC would be infected with some kind of malware within minutes of first opening their mail client. > sending the message from a RedHat 5 Linux system. Another bad idea. That system is way too old. There's hardly ever a sane reason to use outdated versions of free software. An update to RH8 or an equivalently current system, e.g. Fedora, should be the first thing on your list of things to do. > My only experience with email on Linux involves the "mail" command. Then you ain't seen nothing yet. "mail" has been old-fashioned longer than "Linux" has been a word. > But apparently there's no way to > include attachments using "mail". Any suggestions? Use something else. And please take this question elsewhere --- it has nothing whatsoever to do with gnuplot. |

you need to put your plot image into a multipart message with appropriate MIME headers. see e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIME there are several ways to do it: on newer linux systems there is the 'nail' program which is in principle 'mail' with some MIME extensions. I personally prefer Tcl with some additional libraries see http://tcllib.sourceforge.net/doc/mime-README.html but other languages/interpreters offer comparable functionality. km4hr wrote: > > I have a gnuplot that I would like to include in an email message. I have a gnuplot that I would like to include in an email message. I prefer to display the plot when the user opens the message. If that's not possible I want to attach the plot to the message in a way that the plot would be displayed automatically when the recipient opens the attachment. Hi, I've read through the mailing list and I'm wondering how to have the two axes x and x2 aligned, although the are not meant to be, standard. i'm using gnuplot 4.2 now. I have two sets of data: (time,data_value) and (time,some_tag) The idea is to put the time label on the bottom and the corresponding 'some_tags' on the top (x2) axis. Using the standard gnuplot settings my 'some_tag' of 04h00 shows up at 05h14 (for instance). The 'autoscale fix' option or the 'set xrange ; set x2range' option won't do when you use the zooming features of the x11 terminal. The only option I see sofar is to manipulate/extrapolate both data sets to have mutual extends, but when zooming, this will fail again. Can someone give a comment/tip on this subject? I would guess an 'alignment' feature in a future gnuplot would be of common use to many. thanks, Lambert -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/labelling-dates-on-x-and-corresponding-numbers-on-x2-axis-tf4468321.html#a12740610 Sent from the Gnuplot - User mailing list archive at Nabble.com. |

Dear all, Is there a way to plot a simple three-column file (x y z) so that x is the parameter (t), and y and z are the two functions of the parameter? If there is not, how can I at least make a parametric plot out of a two-column file so that the parameter is the number of the row for each pair (x y)? Thank you! You'll have to lie about the actual numerical values, e.g.
ytrans(y)=y+70
set yrange [ytrans(-10):ytrans(-10)]
set ytics ('-70' ytrans(-70), '-60' ytrans(-60), '0' ytrans(0))
plot 'data' using 1:(ytrans($2)) with impulses
Or you can use 'with errorbars' instead of 'with impulses'.

Hi,
I am using the last Gnuplot stable version to plot a binary datafile.
I would like to exclude all the negative values, ie do not plot them and to
put an undefined value instead.
I usually use the "using" option, but it seems there not to work..
plot file using ($1>0. ? $1 : 1/0) binary array=360x180 endian=big \
origin=(-179.5,-89.5) format='%float' \
with image title ''
Can anyone help? Is this a bug? Is there a patch??
Many thanks in advance for all the help you could provide me
ZeBen

I guess this is because the 'replot' command replots only the last > graph...I need a 'remultiplot' command, if you know what I mean. I rather much doubt that. I guess what you really need is to understand that multiplot and replot are not intended to be mixed, nor will anything useful likely result from trying to do so. Be sure you re-read "help plot" to understand what plot sin(x), "file1.dat", "file2.dat" does. |
