Hello

First you should also reply to the gnuplot-info list (gnu...@li...) but not only
to me.  Discussions on the list are reserved in the archives and they are useful to other users.

The tikz terminal uses the lua terminal internal way.

I think that the main purpose of the lua generic terminal for users who would like to use their
original lua script and style.  If you can write or do not want to write your original lua script, use
of the tikz terminal may be a unique solution.

Commands
set terminal lua tikz
set terminal tikz

have the same meaning from the help


For the comparision tikz and the other latex related terminals (latex, pslatex),　I cannot commit it
because I am not a late user.

BTW, the pngcairo terminal is a good solution to generate png images if your gnuplot supports it.

Please type 
set term 

at the gnuplot prompt and see the list of supported terminal.

If your gnuplot supports the pngcairo terminal, please read the help of it by
help pngcairo

at the gnuplot prompt.

file to plot with logscale:

Hey,

I tried to create a histogram as suggested here
(http://gnuplot.sourceforge.net/demo/random.html) by using

bin(x,w)=w*floor(x/w)
plot 'file.txt' using (bin(($1), .1)):(1.0) smooth frequency

which works nicely. However, if I execute

set logscale y

gnuplot seems to apply the log to (1.0) before adding up the values with
frequency, such that I get the following error:

Warning: empty y range [1:1], adjusting to [0.99:1.01]

Any help is greatly appreciated!

[Gnuplot-info] internal error: stack not empty

I tried to plot a graph that used mometum against its events.
The graph looks all right but when I tried to run it, it always show internal 
error: stack not empty. 

Here is my script:

and attachment is part  of the data
since it is too big

Hello

I do not have windows 7 but some users have been reported that gnuplot windows binary has been worked
on windows vista ans 7.

1. If you install gnuplot to the folder to the "Program Files", perhaps you need to log on your pc
with administrative privileges.

2. If you want to use help file, you need to install Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe) for Windows
7. (You can find it easily by search engines using keywords 
  "winhlp32.exe Windows Vista" or "winhlp32.exe Windows 7".) In some situations, you need to remove
the "access forbidden" flag on the help file by right-click the icon of wgnuplot.hlp.

3.If you install gnuplot to the folder other than "Program Files", you may not need to remove the
"access forbidden flag.

I’m using Gnuplot for years on XP OS and recently I install
Windows 7 OS.

When I open the “gnuplot.exe” (version 4.4, gp440win32.zip) it
opens in a text mode but without the options like (file, help,
…). When I open the file “wgnuplot.exe” it’s simple do not
open.

Does anybody know how can I open the Gnuplot on Windows mode?

Check out the program ode(1) from the plotutils¹ package.

Your mail headers suggest that you may use a windows box.  If so,
you'll have to try googling for any information on a port of ode(1)
to that platform.

Ode generates data file which list the value of the specified system
of ordinary differential equations at various points; gnuplot can plot
those files using the "<datafile>" syntax to its plot command.

If you cannot use ode(1), you can use something like maxima, scipad,
octave, sage or other algebra/calculus system to convert the diff-eqs
into samples which gnuplot can plot.

[Gnuplot-info] gnuplot hang with dbus error

hi,

i am using gnuplot to plot a series of point data from a file. the
file is generated by a program containg "%d %d\n" each line, %d means
an integer number.

and then i use the following line to plot the points:
gnuplot -p -e "set size ratio -1; plot '/path/to/the/generated/file'
using 1:2 with points notitle;"

sometimes, not always, gnuplot hangs and i have to force quit it.

i have the following error message from console:

(<unknown>:7842): IBUS-WARNING **: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote
application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy
blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network
connection was broken.
The application '<unknown>' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application.

is this a bug in gnuplot or am i using it wrong?

So fit an exponential to your data an plot it.

without knowing how your data look like, something like
this should work:

a=1
plot 'datafilename' using 1:2 with points, a*x

Hi.
This is driving me insane!
I've just created a graph of data points on a log-log scale graph and it
looks fine. But I need to add a line to the graph that represents the slope
of the graph. As the data is a power law the slope should be a straight
line.

Any suggestions?
