Hello:

I am plotting data. Here is an example:

1   0.65

...
100 0.63

What I want is - I want to put a label between 1 and 4 as 1 and a marker "|"
at 1 and 4 respectively. 

I hope you understand my purpose. Could you provide me an idea to solve this
problem?

Not the way you're thinking. The easiest way is to simply include at the
top of your *.plt files:
	cd 'c:/path/to/working/directory'

If you always want to write to the same directory, you could
include a cd command in your gnuplot.ini file (see "help startup" or
http://www.gnuplot.info/docs_4.0/gnuplot.html#Start-up but the online
documentation is outdated).

(You can create a shortcut and set the working directory in that shortcut
under properties, but this mechanism is largely redundant with the use
of gnuplot.ini.)

I'm stumped, so I hope you don't mind my throwing this back at the list. It
was working with an older version of gnuplot, but using 4.4.2 now, I get
the same error as you.

The goal is to plot using a time/date x-axis, with an offset. Some
example code:

This generates a "all points y value undefined!" error, and I don't
understand why. If the "set xrange" is removed, it seems to work fine. (But
of course, the limited range is needed for the intended application.) Can
anyone offer some help here?

In Windows I can link *.plt files (thats how I name my gnuplot macros) to an
executable, e.g. gnuplot.exe. My Problem is that gnuplot's working directory
is then set to it's program folder instead of the *.plt file's folder.
Output is then written to a wrong folder.

Is there a way to link my *.plt files to gnuplot.exe and automatically use
the *.plt file's current directory as gnuplot's working directory?

[Gnuplot-info] Doing calculation in Gnuplot

Hi friends,

I have two data files containing 4 columns. Now i want to add the 2nd column
of 1st file with the 2nd column of 2nd file and plot wrt 1st column(which is
same for both files).
Generally what i do is paste the two files, into a single file and then
plot:  
     p'newfile.dat' u 1:($2+$6)
to view the results.
Is there another way to do this without pasting the two files into one
file.???

The Parallel sign worked fine, but I still have a problem with the
perpendicular sign.
Using this script:

set term postscript eps enhanced color  "Helvetica" 24 size 10, 5
set output "perp.eps"
plot	1 title "{/Symbol \136}"

This is what I get in the terminal:
enhanced text parser - spurious }
enhanced text parser - spurious }

Any idea?

[Gnuplot-info] Image on not structured grid

Is it possible to display images like in this link?

It is a geophisical section with topography....so it is not a regular
matrix....so I can't threat the data as an image.
Any way to plot the image starting from a text file x,y,value (with not all
the pairs of a grid listed)?

Else...assuming that I can resample the data on a regular grid:

I found using Octave that I can display the with pixels of a matrix using
"NaN", gnuplot looks not accept that kind of value: is there a simple way to
draw the white backgound?

I have attempted to use newhistogram calls, but I still am getting the 
error about insufficent timespec in the using command.

is this something that is just not possible to do?

In doing some more searching I see discussions in the past that indicate 
that it's not possible with plain histograms, but I see no discussion with 
newhistogram. If I could use newhistogram with the 'at' to posisition 
things, I would get the result I am looking for, but this does not appear 
to work.

That sequence makes no particular sense.  The input format for 'set 
xrange' is the one you specified with timefmt before.

What do you mean by "shows a date"?  You're not seriously expecting 
gnuplot to output 28 x axis tickmarks on this plot, and label every one 
with a 5-character date string, are you?  That's 150 characters on a 
single axis, i.e. massive overprinting and/or total lack of readability.
