Hi, Paul > Thanks, I've created a symlink to fix it. The real document name is > Firebird-2.5.0-ReleaseNotes.pdf, but we're not always consistent in adding > .0 to the version number. I think, it's better to have one permanent link for RN (and LRU and other docs also). And symlink exactly perfects for this. :) WBR, GR |

Hi, at page http://www.firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=devel&sub=netprovider there're: "Check the online API Reference documentation for v1.7 Check the online Firebird for .NET 2.0 Tutorial ( Beta ) by Dan Letecky." Hi, hello, I am a student in HH university in sweden. Now I am doing a project with the database. I plan to use Firebird. To say something about my project, there's an application from a company, they want to change the database, so, I want to change it to Firebird. Can you give us something detailed about the schema datatype of FB ? Thank you very much |

Hi > But, can you tell me if we want to buy the database, how much does it cost? Firebird is free (and OpenSource) RDMBS. So you don't have to pay anything. But you or your company can donate Firebird project - to help development. Look here: http://firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=ffoundation&id=contributions > we don't want to share our codes... Also, You don't have to share your code. > and I also don't know Firebird is embedded database or not? Firebird has embedded architecture too. Each release version is distributed in few architectures (editions) and embedded is one of them. Look here: http://firebirdsql.org/index.php?op=files&id=engine_213 > by the way, how can I get the library for Firebird(C++), should I pay for it? You can use direct access to DB - using API or use one of libraries. The most popular C++ library is IBPP http://sourceforge.net/projects/ibpp It is free too. There are many libraries and components for other languages (Delphi, C++Builder etc) too. WBR, GR |

You do not need to pay for Firebird - the binaries and the sources are under MPL-like license. The main requirements for you would be to mention the Firebird in a README.txt or about.html (or whatever document will be used with your application). And no, you do not have to share the code of your application. If you change the Firebird sources, you are required to make the changes of those sources available, but not of your application. Firebird is available as an embedded engine (a DLL) or as a standalone server. Both are available from the download section of our project. Also, we would be happy if you or your organization consider join the Firebird Foundation, which is the organization that generates a money stream for our developers. However it is up to you - there is no obligation to do this. Hope this helps. Best regards, Roman Rokytskyy |
