Yeah this is quite a big problem. All VST plugins in Equalizer APO are currently completely static. VSTs that need to be active/dynamic to work don't work in EAPO. That's a very large fraction of all VSTs out there.

As Equalizer APO processes commands in the "config.txt" file, the Open panel button only shows the VST plugin interface. The dials and switches are read and converted into commands which are put into the config.txt file. In other words, the audio stream isn't rerouted through the plugin shown on screen so no visualizations can be shown there. To show the visualizations the plugin which does process should be shown but then 2 plugin interfaces are on screen. One for changing and one for visualizations of the changes. This is how I understand how things work. And I can imagine it's a bit difficult to do this differently as Equalizer APO is basically a command driven Audio Processing Object. On the other hand, it would be nice if it's made possible.

But 10 month's without an update about this subject... let's hope that it's doable because it would be amazing to have Dirac and other "real VST's" working in EAPO.

Only if you're working with the DAW. It can't be a system-wide analyzer. The creator of VoiceMeeter has a spectrum analyzer. I don't know if it's for system-wide audio. Anyway, in my app, the Peace equalizer, I've built in a peak value meter (level meter) for all possible channels. So if you have 7.1 for example you get the 8 levels of the live audio.

currently VST plugins that can show level meter or spectrum analyser show nothing
This is a huge pain. It would be (I think) the only good way to get visualizations to show if you are nearing the hard limiting threshold.

Anyone knows if there are any plans to correct this ?
How hard would it be ?

Just in case you guys missed it, Jonas Thedering is working on an update for real VST support: https://sourceforge.net/p/equalizerapo/discussion/general/thread/db1fc86b74/#c19c

any update? coming from Linux it's a pita to not beeing able to easily add an analizer to my chain
We haven't heard from the developer since a while. I'm afraid there isn't much going on.
so I have to through a DAW in the middle or is there an easier way?
