Sometimes it can be difficult to get Equalizer APO going on a mic. After many years of supporting Equalizer APO I still don't know exactly why. But here are the basics things to try after installing Equalizer APO onto your mic (which is essential of course):

  • When using your mic on a particular app just try it on an app like Audacity, just to see if Equalizer APO works over there.
  • Set the mic "Audio enhancement" on "Device default effects" (Windows settings -> Sound -> Mic -> Scroll down to Audio enhancements).
  • Try others APO techniques as available in the "install as" drop down box of the troubleshooting options of the mic. Are you familiar with these options and how to change them? Remember to click the "Ok" button to invoke any change.
  • Uncheck (if available) the "Use original APO" check boxes.
  • Uncheck the exclusive mode check boxes (see screenshot). If an app wants exclusive use of a mic (so others can't use it), it bypasses any APO (read sound enhancements) like Equalizer APO.

For Discord specifically: Try all "Audio subsystem" options.
