    Hey o/
So I'm faced with a bizarre situation. I use a Behringer Xenyx QX1002USB audio mixer and APO works like a charm on it (apart from low volume high pitched buzz even if mic is not plugged in). I also use APO on the Valve Index but recently I noticed that it doesn't work on the Index anymore (it still works on the mixer). A few months ago it was all fine. I did not change anything in windows , APO or Steam VR settings. I tried solutions scattered around the internet but to no avail. My best guess is that Valve changed something and that broke it.
I had a similar issue with my Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 2nd gen, it wasn't working with APO as well so I got rid of it.
    Also I'm using Win 10 ver. 2004.
    tl;dr
Have 2 devices that worked, suddenly one stopped working without me adjusting or changing any settings and
    I can't fix :(

Any help or tips are greatly appreciated :)

Usually this is caused by a Windows update. I guess you have check the checkbox in the Configurator to install the Valve Index. But have you tried the troubleshooting options for that device available in the Configurator? Troubleshooting wiki.

Yes, didn't help at all though. I tried installing it as SFX/MFX as well but the same result. I didn't try the experimental ones just in case it might break something even more. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything in the Configurator but still nothing. After all the testing I did the only thing that changed is that Audition doesn't record my Index at all now, luckily Audacity still works :D

SFX/EFX is the Windows 10 way of doing Audio Processing Objects (APO). The developer has labeled it "experimental" but this is usually the only one that works as the audio manufacturers only uses SFX/EFX. In contrast LFX/GFX is "old" Windows Vista and 7 stuff so this default shouldn't be recommended on Windows 10 (or Windows 8 for that matter).

I FOUND A FIX or a work around. All I really want is a limiter, for my normal mic and Index mic, so when I scream I don't peak. Previously I had separate configs for both mics (left).
That only worked for one and later didn't work at all, after some testing. So I reinstalled EQ APO and put a limiter in the default config "config" file and now it works for both mics (right) \^o^/
A problem might arise when I want to put certain settings for each mic but I'll deal with that later.

Hopefully this was somewhat helpful to someone in the future and thanks Peter for the replies.

Be aware by putting the limit without a device selection command it works on your mic and on your speakers. This could mean that you think it works as you're listening to your speakers/headphones output but maybe it doesn't work on the mic.

Only microphone APOs are installed, since I only want to configure those.

That's a smart move :) Or actually that's how every one should do it. Installing Equalizer APO only on the devices you need it on.
