For sure it can be done. But first you have to make sure that Equalizer APO is working altogether. For instance, try to use a pre amp in the Configuration Editor of Equalizer APO to see if your audio can be made louder or softer, just to confirm Equalizer APO is doing its magic on your computer.

Click on the plus button to add a filter, than go to Basic Filters > Copy (Copy between channels). After that, drag the green "L" to the red "R", and the green "R" to the red "L". There you go, it should work now.
