Could it be that the ORDER BY 1 comes from the default sort order set on the form? If it is causing severe performance degradation I guess you should see your DBA. -- Michiel On 10/11/06, STAN HOLODNAK, BLOOMBERG/ 731 LEXIN <sch...@bl...> wrote: > I just added $ars_errstr to printout. Stan,
You can use ars_GetListSQL and do the query directly to the DB, but have
to know exactly which table.
Hope that helps,

Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] GetListEntry returns empty sometimes
I just added $ars_errstr to printout. I also indexed fields on which I
am=20
searching and I did not see an error yet, because GetListEntry always
returned=20
something I guess. The response time for the query varies from 30
seconds to 200
seconds. So this query
'%entries =3D ars_GetListEntry( $ctrl, $form, $qual , 0 , 0);' produces=20
this query
that's the one SELECT T431.C1,T431.C1,C536871066,C536871068,C60
0000200,C536870935,C8,C7,C536870953,C536870924,C536871044,C53687
0937 FROM T431 WHERE (((T431.C600000200 =3D 'SWDRData') AND
(T431.C7 < 5)) AND (T431.C2 =3D 'nams')) ORDER BY 1 ASC
When I remove 'ORDER BY 1 ASC' clause it returns right away, but with
the=20
'ORDER' there are delays. I don't need 'ORDER BY 1 ASC', how can I
remove it? =20
Also is there some kind of timeout for the function? -Stan

I didn't know about the vcvars32.bat script. We're trying that out now on my colleague's laptop. I also got several copies of the compiled binaries and those have worked out the best for installing. I don't expect a lot of customers will want me to install a compiler on their Remedy servers, so it's probably best for me to pursue the route of using pre-compiled binaries for at least the Windows servers. -- Shannon B. Hi all, =20 Not sure who is here, but I have been a longtime user of ARSPerl, way = back to version 1.73. =20 Has anyone compiled ARS 1.85 for Windows? We are having a problem with the GetEntryBLOB call (ARSPerl 1.8002 is
our version). Our statement=20
is as follows:
my $a =3D ars_GetEntryBLOB($c, $schema, 5-0047660, 910000325,
ARS::AR_LOC_BUFFER);
It is an Attachment field we are retrieving. But we keep getting the
following error no matter
what we try:
GetEntryBLOB: [ERROR] locType parameter is required. (ARERR #80006)=20
at ./ARAttachmentUpload.pl line 64, <DATA>
line 123.
NOTE: We also get this when trying to pull the attachment into a
file and using the ARS::AR_LOC_FILENAME
We've tried different entry ids, etc. Is there something we are
missing ? Is it possible we need to go to a later version=20
of ARSPerl ?=20
Any help would be greatly appreciated.=20

Mark J. Galloway

Try GetListSQL. It works with labels or field IDs only. To use database names you could
do something like this:
%f = ars_GetFieldTable( $ctrl, $formName );
$queryStr = qq/'$f{"Request-ID"}' = "$requestId"/;

George, Thank you, One of the guys here had seen this before and told me to go ahead with the install even though test failed. I went back and redid the ./mkheaders and this time when running the tests ignore dthe failures and attempted the install, which worked, a test worked. Thank you for the reply, the big piece for the alias to have now is Ignore the errors. The make always would work, but the test is where I was getting failures and therefore I was hesitate to run install. Hello,
I compiled ARSPerl 1.85 yesterday on Solaris 10 with gcc v3.3.2, perl
5.6.1 (that's the one installed by our sysadmins) and GNU Make 3.80
using ARS 5.1.2 API. I documented each step:
1. Ensure that all needed packages and tools are installed (perl,
gcc, make - refer to Sun Packaging)
2. Download ARSPerl source and extract it i.e. to ~/arsperl/ARSperl-1.85
3. Copy ARS api & libs directories (usually found in $ARS/api) i.e.
to ~/arsperl/api_5.1.2
4. 'cd ~/arsperl/ARSperl-1.85'
5. Open Makefile.PL and change the $ARSAPI variable to point to the
right API, i.e. $ARSAPI = "/home/remedy/arsperl/api_5.1.2"; Please
note that the full path has to be used here (~/arsperl/api_5.1.2 won't
work)
6. Generate the Makefile by running: 'perl Makefile.PL' - feel free
to enter ARS server details although it's not needed.
7. Open the newly generated Makefile and change the following lines:
1. CC = cc => CC = gcc
2. LD = cc => LD = gcc
3. LD = cc => LD = gcc
4. CCCDLFLAGS = -KPIC => CCCDLFLAGS = -fPIC
5. OPTIMIZE = -xO3 -xdepend => OPTIMIZE = -O3 -funroll-loops
8. Run 'make' and ignore the warnings
9. Optional: run 'make test' and provide necessary credentials for
the ARS test system. This also performs ARSPerl internal tests.
10. Switch to root and go to the ARSPerl directory (i.e.
/home/remedy/arsperl/ARSperl-1.85)
11. Run 'make install' => done
If this doesn't help, you could check/change the make version, switch
to a different ARS API or downgrade Perl.

I am using solaris 10. Installed gcc-3.3.2-sol10-sparc-local and
perl-5.8.7-sol10-sparc-local. The PATH is set correct to hit the version of

tried ./mkheaders and switching paths for gcc to the sfw, but that just
wreaks more havoc and I reinstall gcc.

Has anyone been able to compile ARSPerl with the Remedy 6.3 API files on a system that is running 64-bit? I'm getting come errors when compiling and getting alot of errors when attempting to link. I can provide the exact errors I'm getting. I checked Remedy's Web Site, and their compatability matrix, and I don't see any reference to 64-bit for any platform. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
