I discovered my mistake.
=20
When compiling perl, I used an old source that I had used on an HPUX =
machine. in HPUX I had to compile ARSperl into perl statically so it =
was in the library tree of the perl source. When I did the new Solaris =
install, I did not get all of the older arsperl stuff out. I cleaned it =
out now and am re-compiling perl. I hopes this helps anyone else whoe =
stumbles onto this.

Subject: [Arsperl-users] arsperl on Solaris 10 with ARS 6.3
Hello all, I've been installing arsperl on a new Sun Solaris 2.10 =
system. =20
=20
I used the package arsperl 1.85 (I hope this is the stable version that =
works with ARS 6.3) which I got off of CPAN.
=20
Everything compiled and installed without a hitch, when I actually ran =
it, however, I got the folowing error:
=20
----- Begin Paste ----
=20
user@server:# perl
use ARS;
ARS object version 1.84 does not match bootstrap parameter 1.8002 at =
/opt/perl5/lib/5.8.2/sun4-solaris/DynaLoader.pm line 249.
Compilation failed in require at - line 1.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at - line 1.
user@server:#
=20
--- End Paste ---
=20
I noticed that in the downloaded package, the ARS.pm file has the line :
=20
$ARS::VERSION =3D '1.84';
I couldn't find any files with 1.8002 in them so I'm not sure where that =
came from. Unless it got mixed up with my version of perl.

Greetings All, I was just wondering is anyone has had any experiences with ARS Perl and ARS 7.0? I am trying to build ARSPerl 1.85 which only documents support for 6.3. I am just trying my luck really! I seem to be getting an error when building it on Windows... "Generating serverTypeInfoHints.h .. The system cannot find the file specified. something went wrong when i ran "C:\Perl\bin\perl.exe infra/exsi.pl < D:\Program Files\AR System\devvm\ARServer\Api/include/ar.h > serverTypeInfoHints.h" (rv = 256, expected 0) at Makefile.PL line 212." -- Regards, Warren Fisher |

Yes it still happens if I omit the call to ars_Logoff(). :(

Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] ARSPerl and Perl 5.8.6 issues
The code contains the fix. It's the safefree() in line 4985. The=20
previous version called free(). I changed this because the=20
ARControlStruct object is allocated with safemalloc() in line 233=20
(function ars_Login). Before the fix I had the same problem (segfault=20
on script termination, i.e. even after a successful call to ars_Logoff)=20
on Windows XP.
You mentioned in another mail that the problem occurs if the script=20
calls only ars_Login() and ars_Logoff(). Does the segfault also happen=20
if you omit the ars_Logoff() ?

The code contains the fix. It's the safefree() in line 4985. The
previous version called free(). I changed this because the
ARControlStruct object is allocated with safemalloc() in line 233
(function ars_Login). Before the fix I had the same problem (segfault
on script termination, i.e. even after a successful call to ars_Logoff)
on Windows XP.
You mentioned in another mail that the problem occurs if the script
calls only ars_Login() and ars_Logoff(). Does the segfault also happen
if you omit the ars_Logoff() ?

Hello all, I have been asked a very interesting question about the login to through = arsperl and hence through the API. =20 If I am using arsperl on server A to log into the ARS on server B, is = the password passed between servers in clear text or is it encrypted? Also, how does using the API act different from using just the Remedy = client tool as far as the passing of the login credentials? Any insight on this would be very helpful. Thanks, Brent |

[Arsperl-users] ARSPerl and Perl 5.8.6 issues The segfaults on script termination are possibly caused by a bug in the=20 DESTROY() function for ARControlStruct. This is fixed in the latest=20 developer version, which you can download via CVS. See http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=3D116013 To say anything about the "no data returned" issues, I'd need more=20 specific information, e.g. a sample script that shows the described=20 behaviour. I hope all this info I am sending you helps btw... :) Let me know if it =
is not and I'll stop. :)
What was the bug you fixed in XS_ARControlStructPtr_DESTROY method in =
ARS.xs:4977
It looks like the issue is still alive and well on this platform...
Does the code below have the fix? This is what I checked out of CVS =
this morning.

Subject: Re: [Arsperl-users] ARSPerl and Perl 5.8.6 issues
The segfaults on script termination are possibly caused by a bug in the=20
DESTROY() function for ARControlStruct. This is fixed in the latest=20
developer version, which you can download via CVS. See
http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=3D116013
To say anything about the "no data returned" issues, I'd need more=20
specific information, e.g. a sample script that shows the described=20
behaviour.

If you look at the make log below there are unsafe casts being made.
ARS.xs: In function `XS_ARS_ars_CreateActiveLink':
ARS.xs:3825: warning: cast to pointer from integer of different size
support.c: In function `get_logging_file_ptr':
support.c:108: warning: cast to pointer from integer of different size
supportrev.c: In function `rev_ARAssignFieldStruct_helper':
supportrev.c:1594: warning: cast to pointer from integer of different =
size
The box I am compiling on has 64bit integers, not 32.

Hi there, I am new to ARSperl group and don't have any Remedy programming experience so please excuse me if I am posting a very basic or fundamental question. I am running Perl 5.6.1 with ARSperl 1.8.5 on Solaris 8 system and Remedy is running on another server which I have no access except Remedy account. I want to write a script to extract Case Title and Case Status if I already have Case ID. I have been searching for awhile in Google without any success. Thanks in advance. Alan Watt ala...@ve... |
