duf
Disk usage and free utility, a better 'df' alternative
User-friendly, colorful output, adjusts to your terminal's theme & width. Sort the results according to your needs, with groups & filters devices. duf can conveniently output JSON. Make sure you have a working Go environment (Go 1.12 or higher is required). Binaries for Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, macOS, Windows. You can simply start duf without any command-line arguments. If you supply arguments, duf will only list specific devices & mount points. If you want to list everything (including pseudo, duplicate, inaccessible file systems), you can. You can show and hide specific tables. You can also show and hide specific filesystems. List inode information instead of block usage. If duf doesn't detect your terminal's colors correctly, you can set a theme. Users of oh-my-zsh should be aware that it already defines an alias called duf, which you will have to remove in order to use duf. -

ddrescueview
Graphical viewer for GNU ddrescue mapfiles
This small tool allows the user to graphically examine ddrescue's mapfiles in a user friendly GUI application. The Main window displays a block grid with each block's color representing the block types it contains. Many people know this type of view from defragmentation programs. The program is written in Object Pascal using the Lazarus IDE. It can be compiled to run on Windows, GNU/Linux and probably OS X, too. The downloads include binaries for the respective target platform and the project files (source code). Update 2022/02/25: ddrescueview version 0.4.5 has been released. This maintenance release restores compatibility with ddrescue 1.24 and later. Please consider testing this version. This an application launcher for removable drives (although it can also be used as a normal application). Rather than organizing the apps as a list like the Windows Start menu, they are organized in a tool bar a bit similar to the Mac OSX dock bar.

An easy-to-use backup tool for GNU Linux using rsync in the back
Back In Time is an easy-to-use tool to backup files and folders. It runs on GNU Linux (not on Windows or OS X/macOS) and provides a command line tool backintime and a GUI backintime-qt both written in Python3. It uses rsync to take manual or scheduled snapshots and stores them locally or remotely through SSH. Each snapshot is in its own folder with copies of the original files, but unchanged files are hard-linked between snapshots to save storage space. It was inspired by FlyBack. -

Easy file attachment management for ActiveRecord
Paperclip is intended as an easy file attachment library for ActiveRecord. The intent behind it was to keep setup as easy as possible and to treat files as much like other attributes as possible. This means they aren't saved to their final locations on disk, nor are they deleted if set to nil, until ActiveRecord::Base#save is called. It manages validations based on size and presence, if required. It can transform its assigned image into thumbnails if needed, and the prerequisites are as simple as installing ImageMagick (which, for most modern Unix-based systems, is as easy as installing the right packages). Attached files are saved to the filesystem and referenced in the browser by an easily understandable specification, which has sensible and useful defaults. Paperclip will wrap up to four attributes (all prefixed with that attachment's name, so you can have multiple attachments per model if you wish) and give them a friendly front end. -

S3Proxy implements the S3 API and proxies requests, enabling several use cases. Translation from S3 to Backblaze B2, EMC Atmos, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and OpenStack Swift. Testing without Amazon by using the local filesystem. Extension via middleware. Embedding into Java applications. Docker Hub hosts a Docker image and has instructions on how to run it. Users can download releases from GitHub. Developers can build the project by running mvn package which produces a binary at target/s3proxy. S3Proxy requires Java 8 or newer to run. Configure S3Proxy via a properties file. An example using the local file system as the storage backend with anonymous access. S3Proxy can be configured to assign buckets to different backends with the same credentials. In addition to the explicit names, glob syntax can be used to configure many buckets for a given backend. -

As Speek's celebrated FLAC Frontend hasn't been updated for 10 years, things started to get a little buggy with new Windows versions. This remake fixes most issues. FLAC Frontend is a convenient way for Windows users not used to working with command lines to use the official FLAC tools. It accepts WAVE, W64, AIFF and RAW files for encoding and outputs FLAC or OGG-FLAC files. It is able to decode FLAC files, test them, fingerprint them and re-encode them. It has drag-and-drop support too. -

Dufs is a compact Rust-based file server for sharing and managing files through a browser, command line, or WebDAV client. It can serve static content, upload files and folders, search directories, create or edit files, and package folders as downloadable archives. Transfers support resumable and partial uploads or downloads, which is useful for large files and unstable connections. Account-based rules provide read-only or read-write permissions for specific paths, including anonymous access when desired. The server supports HTTPS, CORS, custom assets, hidden-path rules, index rendering, and single-page applications. It is distributed through Cargo, Docker, Homebrew, and prebuilt binaries for Windows, macOS, and Linux. -

Pluggable foundation blocks for building loosely coupled distributed apps. Includes implementations in Redis, Azure, AWS, RabbitMQ and in memory (for development). When building several big cloud applications we found a lack of great solutions (that's not to say there aren't solutions out there) for many key pieces to building scalable distributed applications while keeping the development experience simple. Wanted to build against abstract interfaces so that we could easily change implementations. Wanted the blocks to be dependency injection friendly. We were initially using an open-source Redis cache client but then it turned into a commercial product with high licensing costs. Not only that but there weren't any in-memory implementations so every developer was required to set up and configure Redis. We initially looked at NServiceBus (a great product) but it had high licensing costs (they have to eat too) and was not OSS friendly. -

Xplorer is a modern, cross-platform file manager built from the ground up to meet contemporary file-browsing needs across Windows, macOS, and Linux. Rather than relying on heavy, traditional desktop frameworks, Xplorer uses a hybrid architecture: a web-based frontend (TypeScript + SCSS/HTML) for UI, combined with a backend implemented in Rust to handle file operations, which keeps the application lightweight, memory-efficient, and faster to start. It supports multiple tabs, allowing users to open and manage many directories simultaneously. A key strength is built-in file preview: beyond just listing files, Xplorer lets you preview many file types directly (images, text files with syntax highlighting, and even video preview for supported formats), saving the extra step of opening external viewers. The design emphasizes customization: users can choose themes, customize layouts (grid or detail view), pin favorites in a sidebar, and tailor the experience to their workflow. -

Manage local application configuration files using templates from etcd
confd is a lightweight configuration management tool focused on keeping local configuration files up-to-date using data stored in etcd, consul, dynamodb, redis, vault, zookeeper, aws ssm parameter store or env vars and processing template resources. confd is also focused on reloading applications to pick up new config file changes. Go 1.10 is required to build confd, which uses the new vendor directory. You should have a working etcd, or consul server up and running and the ability to add new keys. Template resources are defined in TOML config files under the confdir. confd supports two modes of operation daemon and onetime. In daemon mode confd polls a backend for changes and updates destination configuration files if necessary. The metadata api prefix can be defined on the cli, or as part of your keys in the template toml file. -
