Original Windows file manager (winfile) with enhancements
The Windows File Manager lives again and runs as a native x86 and x64 desktop app on all currently supported version of Windows, including Windows 10. I welcome your thoughts, comments and suggestions. There are two primary versions of the source code in the master branch, original_plus tag, which refers to the source for WinFile as of Windows NT4 with minimal changes so that it compiles with Visual Studio and runs on current Windows. And current master, which contains my personal changes / additions to WinFile. If you are running Windows 10, you can download the app from the store. If you just want to download the WinFile application without worrying about compiling from the source code, we have a number of precompiled versions available. The Windows File manager was originally released with Windows 3.0 in the early 1990s. -

Back In Time is an easy-to-use tool to backup files and folders. It runs on GNU Linux (not on Windows or OS X/macOS) and provides a command line tool backintime and a GUI backintime-qt both written in Python3. It uses rsync to take manual or scheduled snapshots and stores them locally or remotely through SSH. Each snapshot is in its own folder with copies of the original files, but unchanged files are hard-linked between snapshots to save storage space. It was inspired by FlyBack. -

Disk Image Manager is an application for examining and manipulating disk images in the Standard and Extended DSK format used by many Spectrum, Amstrad PCW and CPC emulators. Many of the features and functions of this tool were driven by the Spectrum Disk Preservation team which used this format and tool to help manage the selection and testing of disk images archived to The World of Spectrum and The TZX Vault. These images are traditionally created with CPDRead under DOS but Simon Owen's mordern SanDisk works great under Windows and provides for much more advanced imaging especially around copy-protected disks. -

SwiftSearch
Searches NTFS volumes almost instantly
SwiftSearch is a lightweight program whose purpose is to help you quickly find the files you need on your Windows machine without ever requiring you to index your drives. Most search utilities that achieve similar speeds do so by indexing drives while the computer is idle, but because idleness detection is so difficult to get right, in practice they end up slowing down the whole system just to speed up search. SwiftSearch works differently: given administrator privileges, it completely bypasses the file system (only NTFS supported) and reads the file table directly every time, which speeds up search by many orders of magnitude. Typically searches yield full results in ~10 seconds or less, a significant speedup for many users. As a bonus, this program also supports path-based search (for example, you can search for "*Program*\Windows*"), regular expressions (just start the search name with '>' character), and full directory sizes. Its goal is to be simple, swift, and intuitive to use. -

This project is intended to serve as a modern replacement for "HDDLiveCD", the live OS that shipped with the original HDDSC project. OSC is an advanced Linux -based cloning and imaging tool intended for data recovery from faulty disks. It creates sector-by-sector clones or images that can be used in conjunction with other file recovery software. OSC employs a multipass imaging approach, an intelligent skipping algorithm, and various passthrough and direct I/O commands for drive communication. These features greatly increase the effectiveness of reading faulty and unstable devices, and reduce the amount of additional wear the drives are subjected to. -

This small tool allows the user to graphically examine ddrescue's mapfiles in a user friendly GUI application. The Main window displays a block grid with each block's color representing the block types it contains. Many people know this type of view from defragmentation programs. The program is written in Object Pascal using the Lazarus IDE. It can be compiled to run on Windows, GNU/Linux and probably OS X, too. The downloads include binaries for the respective target platform and the project files (source code). Update 2022/02/25: ddrescueview version 0.4.5 has been released. This maintenance release restores compatibility with ddrescue 1.24 and later. Please consider testing this version.
