The respective pairs of transitional verb and state used in Plone are: publish -> published publicize -> public Appearently the second state was added later on to Plone. The difference is quite subtle (please correct me if I' wrong): If something is public ("öffentlich"), then *anybody* can see it. If something has been published ("veröffentlicht"), then it is visible for the set of regular users of the site (in the case of a public site, these are all users of the site. In the case of a private site, published things still aren't visible for anonymous users). Public items don't have an effective date, but are always visible. Even in English, the difference of the word pairs seems to be quite subtle. Perhaps a correct German translation for "publicize" would be "öffentlich machen": publish -> published veröffentlichen -> veröffentlicht publicize -> public öffentlich machen -> öffentlich Gregor |
