Making sure this reaches the docs list: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Timo Stollenwerk <ti...@pl...> Date: Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 4:33 AM Subject: [Plone-developers] Plone 5 Upgrade Guide To: plone-developers <plo...@li...>, plo...@li... Hi, I'm currently working on migrating the last control panels to z3cform and I was wondering where I should put the upgrade guidelines. Is the upgrade guide on plone.org still the right place for this? https://plone.org/documentation/manual/upgrade-guide Or would it make sense to move that to Sphinx as well? It's working for 4.3.4. Not yet for P5, though. I say we include it into docs.plone.org. that is easy and fast to do. Do we want that from now on or from Plone 5 ? Hi All, The documentation for the Ansible Playbook is in pretty good shape (see it at http://plone-ansible-playbook.readthedocs.org/en/latest/, with the sources in https://github.com/plone/ansible-playbook/tree/master/docs). I did this with the aim of having it on docs.plone.org. Does that make sense to others? If so, anybody got a quick guide or example for incorporating it as an external doc? Or should it go into https://github.com/plone/documentation ? Steve |

Hi All, I've opened a new repo https://github.com/plone/ansible-playbook that currently contains nothing but a first draft of documentation for a forthcoming Plone Ansible Playbook. Please, please, please contribute by discussing and/or editing and writing. I'm trying to use this document to work through the most fundamental questions about how this facility should look *before* we write much code. The doc is just a big README at the moment. Don't worry yet about breaking it up or getting it into good Sphinx format. Instead, think about it and contribute. We'll refactor later. Instead, think about questions like: What tools should be in the stack? How do we want to encourage customization? How will be handle versioning and branching going forward? I'd love for us to get this into shape by the conference so that we can talk about it, sell it, and incite sprinters with the doc(s) serving as our story. Let fly! Steve |

Yes, you can receive posts as emails (digested or one at a time) and you can reply by email. You only have to go to the website to make a new post, and the developers of Discourse are working on that. +1 on what Gert says. The old "listserv vs. forum" conversation...some prefer one, some prefer the other. I don't go to forums, but mail comes to my inbox, that works better for me. The solution is both options available - one example is Yahoo groups - the choice to receive posts as e-mails and reply same way, and to view posts in a forum UI. Does the product running community.plone.org have this ability? cheers, John S. Hi All, I'm looking for the replacement for the withdrawn page at: - http://plone.org/documentation/kb-old/apache-ssl ...which does not yet seem to be at: - http://developer.plone.org/ I'm reasonably content that I have it set up right, and have sanity-checked based on a hodge-podge of StackOverflow answers, but would like to see the docs (and ideally a worked example for comparison) before going live. I have what I think is the simplest possible use case - I simply want to protect the login forms and the authentication cookie, but run without SSL for anonymous users. Hi, I want to suppose a 'freeze' of the current documentation [developer.plone.org] meaning we will not merge pull requests anymore and may tell that on the site, too. Everyone is still more than welcome to write and or update docs, but please do not merge, the reason for that i,s that we are really busy with the new setup, which will go online in around 3 - 4 weeks, it will create lots of extra work if we have to read through the docs to catch the latest updates and copy them over, if we have the pull requests in the tracker, which we can check, it makes things easier. Cheers, Sven |

Hey, we were working on a 'best practice' guide about writing documentation for add-ons, we also tested this guide with a couple of developers here ate the sprint in Munich and changed it a bit according to their input. Before we go now and announce the guide to the world we would like to have your opinions and feedback. Of course there is lots of space for changes but there are some reasons why we did it like that, for example the folder structure and this has to do with the way how the new documentation setup is build. You can find the guide here: https://github.com/plone/documentation/blob/master/about/documentation_styleguide_addons.rst Ciao, Sven |

Hello, This is the first unofficial announcement about the first documentation sprint in 2014 aka ' Stroopwaffel Sprint' in Amsterdam. What is a stroopwaffel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroopwafel As we planned during PloneConf, the main goal will be to reorganize the structure of our documentation to be ready for Plone 5. This will be a strategic sprint to think, talk and plan the new documentation layout, like make a difference between developers and integrators, organize the documentation for different versions of Plone, different languages and much more, a coactivate site will be there soon. We will have later in 2014 [late spring, hopefully] a second sprint, to actually do the 'real work' :) When: ---------- We have two possible dates, both of them are close to the upcoming Cathedral Sprint [ http://www.coactivate.org/projects/cathedral-sprint-2010/project-home]. February 7th - 9th February 21th - 23th Where: ------ Amsterdam, The Netherlands If you are interested to attempt, please send me a personal [off list] mail with your preferred date and questions ! Since this is meant to be a tactical/strategic sprint, we do not expect lots of people but of course everyone is invited to join ! We can offer free accommodation for at least five people, if you don't mind to bring a sleeping bag and share a room. More information about travel, housing and so on will be online shortly after we will have a date. Cheers Sven |

Hi, good point, you are right ! We skipped that for the first planning because there was no one willing to work on that, so we decided for the moment to 'diazo' it into plone.org, but of course a working search from plone.org would be really nice ! cheers Sven On 10/16/13 4:18 PM, Dylan Jay wrote: > Hi, > > I won't be able to make this sprints unfortunately however I don't see moving the docs back to plone.org/docs and integrating plone.org search with the docs search. If someone wants to take these on I think it would be very much appreciated. I know Mikko already has some ideas on how to integrate search while still hosting via sphinx. Hi, to make developer.plone.org even more easier to use and so hopefully more appealing I moved developer.plonesearch.firefox to collective: https://github.com/collective/developer.plonesearch.firefox I will work more on that once I will be back in Europe, at the moment I'm still enjoying Brazil :) cheers Sven |

Hi, I won't be able to make this sprints unfortunately however I don't see moving the docs back to plone.org/docs and integrating plone.org search with the docs search. If someone wants to take these on I think it would be very much appreciated. I know Mikko already has some ideas on how to integrate search while still hosting via sphinx. I also have some ideas of automated uploading of sphix docs directly into Plone.
