It would be good to have an option which allows the user to turn on/off the automatic Plone launch at Windows startup. Generated from: http://plone.org |

My HalfLife2 keeps crashing, and the biggest memory hog in Task Manager is Python - and it's not even supposed to be running so... I guess I'll try Plone on another machine. Generated from: http://plone.org |

I found this tool very interesting, but starting from scratch, I may have taken away some tools that are needed to do more design. I am de-installing and re-installing the program. I need to re-create a basic web page that was built 3 or 4 years ago with Front Page. This tool looks like it will work. I need to start doing more and more Web design to be more familiar with the product. I had assembler language and C+ back in college and have worked ver little with web design since then. I do work alot with computer hardware and fixing broken Microsoft machines. I have been working a little with Linux but never have enough time to spend with programming like I used to do. I do plan to accomplish this first web page soon. Generated from: http://plone.org |

I am uninstalling v3.1.7 because I cannot change the site logo. I have followed the instruction for doing this to the letter but it still won't change. I can see the new logo if I examine the custom version in Zope but it will not appear on the plone site. I have done some similar custom changes to the default css with no problem but can't get the logo to change. I have taken extensive steps to ensure its not just a browser caching issue and it defininately is not. I am going to try version 2.5.5 to see if I have more luck. I am a total plone novice at the moment but am keen to learn. I am find it difficult to find an absolute beginners guide to help me build a manageable website for my client, and keep falling at the first hurdle. For example I tried to install something called DIYPloneStyle and the documentation says: On the file system: Symlink directories contained in the DIYPloneStyle/example folder in the Products directory of your Zope instance. Restart the server. Do you have an idiots guide to how to 'Symlink directories' for example. I have tried just copying files accross in Windows but this always makes plone stop working completely. It doesn't work. I install Plone, click on the start menu icon and a dialog box opens. I click "start plone", a browsre window opens looking at "http://localhost" (which points to my homepage on Apache that is running on this PC), the page partly loads and stops. I minimise the browser and the Plone dialog box invites me to "start Plone" Looks like it can't deal with a PC that already has a server running. Generated from: http://plone.org |

Wow! Where do I start! This seems to be the easiest way to get a hold of the Plone Project. Its difficult to start because there is just so many problems. In my search to find a powerful CMS on which to base my companyâs intranet, Plone came up as one of the most powerful solutions out there, it was recommended for my specific use - intranets. I tried Joomla, Drupal, and wanted to try Plone and then make my decision. And here is where the fun ends. I have tried for the last 4 days to install a working copy of Plone and Zope onto my computer (laptop running Windows XP) each time I would install the files and check the status it would tell me that Plone was running. When I went to the site located in my localhost area it would load but not let me logon as administrator or manager. The only time I was given a place to set up a username and password was during installation. Using this user info I have tried to login to no avail. I have spent countless hours of personal and business time trying to make sense of your help and document areas but there is no mention of the problem. There is no complete systematic installation guide on your site the works. Someone in your organization needs to update and go through the installation guides on your website and update them and make sure they work. Your documentation is based on HUGE assumptions as to the level of new user understanding of web server operations, database server functions, operations, and scripting languages, APIâs and frameworks. For the record I understand them in concept but know very little about their command line syntax and structure. I have proceeded to take my issues to your forum and to your chat room only to be further frustrated with the login and registration procedures of your forum. It took several hours to decide to let me post (Nabble). I have posted on your installation forum only to be ignored and have no one return a post (see post by webwidget). Moreover my search through your posts shows that you donât respond until threatened with someone dropping your product. My experience with your chat room was hideous! After posting my issue the only response I originally received was âgoogle â debugging Plone authenticationâ. Which I did and it just sent me back to your hideously organized documentation site. You really go to pains not to have to talk to people. Moreover, I notice that your site is obviously running Plone. If your website is a representation of your product, than I need not spend another second looking at it. www.civil-graphics.com Generated from: http://plone.org |

I uninstall because I made a manipulation in ZMI (sorry don't know what?) that make unusable the plone :( I will re-install it completly. The origine: changing the skin of plone to "nuplone" which was in the prodcut list, but don't appears in plone aside of the default skin (theme). Generally, I have no Idea how to install a new theme ??? Generated from: http://plone.org |

Does not appear to be the product I am after. I was trying to find a document content management system that would allow me to store a number of document components (standard text) and then allow me to define a set of content 'snippits' to use in building a special purpose document. For example, a company might have three forms of a proposal. Two of the proposal forms might include a corporate history (standardized content) in addition to many other pieces of both standard and customized content. The content database would have one entry for "corporate history". A specific proposal type might include "corporate history" while a specific proposal of another type might not. You could probably call such a published document a compound document built from many content 'snippits'. Published formats would be MSWord or OpenOffice, ... Generated from: http://plone.org |

I am uninstalling Plone because I found it was not suitable for my needs. Actually I found out I needed a Wiki. So far I used TikiWiki, MediaWiki and DokuWiki. I especially appreciate the feature in some Wikis (e.g. TikiWiki) that I can rename a page and all references to the page will be updated as well. Generated from: http://plone.org |
