My suggestion on this 2 weeks ago that was sent to the mailing list was: "I’d like to see us pick a date to branch 1.3 for release, say 31st October 2014 (to give a chance to get all patches that already exist for 1.3 merged), and then say 1st January 2015 for 2.0."
