The general consensus is that we don't add new features into stable
releases, just bug fixes.

That said, openid implemented with rpxnow was discussed on this list
and reverted for several reasons from master (see archives for
details). At that time, I used the Zend_Auth OpenID class to implement
the same feature without relying on external services, but since we
were supposedly releasing 1.2 soon I did not want to push hard for
Zend inclusion

Maybe it's time to revive that plan...
