The BibDesk team is pleased to announce that version 0.97 is available=20= for download from <http://bibdesk.sourceforge.net/>. There are some=20 major internal changes in this version (we believe them to be=20 improvements), along with some great new features. Among these are=20 citekey generation with a user-customizable format (and BibDesk can=20 even set the citekey automatically when you've entered enough=20 information in the fields), improved character conversion, and much=20 improved speed and memory consumption. A complete list of new features and bugfixes is included below, just to=20= prove that we haven't been slacking for the last month or so since=20 0.96.2 (see also=20 http://michael-mccracken.net/blog/blosxom.pl/2004/12/09#SLOC). Due to the number of changes, it is likely that new bugs have been=20 introduced; therefore, back up your data often! If you find a bug,=20 please report it at=20 <http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=3D61487&atid=3D497423> with=20 detailed steps to reproduce the problem, expected results, and actual=20 results. ** New Features ** =95 Automatic generation of custom citekey formats; see the=20 preferences and online help for details. This=20 primarily benefits users of Compendex and other databases which put=20 HTML in their RIS files. =95 More RIS and Medline publication types should be recognized =95 Crash reporter feature added, thanks to Infinite Loop =95 On OS X 10.3 and greater, users can reinstall the autocompletion=20= plugin from the autocompletion preferences to have "\ref{"=20 autocompletion as well as "\cite" autocompletion (search for=20 autocompletion in the online help to see details). =95 Added a Scripts menu for user-supplied AppleScripts ** Bugfixes ** =95 Profiling and optimizing code resulted in significant speed=20 increases in opening/saving files =95 'View as text' in BibEditor now works for local-urls with spaces = in=20 the paths =95 Column widths are now saved properly =95 Capitalize BibTeX fields when adding in BibEditor, in order to=20 avoid potential conflicts =95 Some character conversions (Bookends import improved) =95 Opening MacRoman files as UTF8 won't cause a crash anymore =95 BibEditor tab-keyloop (hopefully fixed for real this time) =95 Updated TeX template =95 Fix for displaying incorrect month in types like inbook that = don't=20 have a month field by default =95 Add display of chapter title and title together in table for = inbook=20 types =95 More forgiving way of asking to display cite key in table/search=20= field/sorting =95 Bug #1056268, allow tableview selection for dragging when the=20 table's window is in the background =95 Bug #1056554, which appears to be an AppKit bug; dragging many=20 publications raised an exception =95 Bug #1056893, autogenerated citekeys can have garbage =95 Bug #1059514, should be able to drag text clippings with BibTeX=20= directly to BibDesk =95 Bug #1060388, sorting by cite key broken =95 Bug #1067752, no undo for drag-and-drop or pasting =95 Bug #1066995, 10.3-only method used for a 10.2-only warning =95 Bug #1056261, file path should always be URL encoded =95 Only allow the PDF preview to draw on the main thread =95 Can now drag BibTeX entries between windows in BibDesk, = regardless=20 of the copy/paste prefs =95 Control memory usage on RIS imports using a local autorelease = pool =95 The RIS importer now only uses the four-digit year for the BibTeX=20= "Year" field, and strips the month =95 The RIS importer will check for duplicate authors in some broken=20= RIS files (e.g. Scopus RIS) =95 Major memory leaks were found and fixed =95 Bug #1063105, numbered month and year wrong in date =95 Fixed an AppleScript bug with the make command =95 Bug #818936, autocompletion in the BibEditor doesn't respect=20 dividers (e.g. "and" for authors) =95 Maintain item selection after sorting, and scroll to the selected=20= item after sorting =95 Added some notification and undo in AppleScript =95 Allow setting BibTeX string in AppleScript only at initialization =95 Added new 'proxy' objects BibField to access arbitrary fields = from=20 AppleScript =95 Force capitalization for field names in AppleScript for internal=20= consistency's sake =95 Moved setting of some undo action name to controller layer to get=20= correct action name in redo menu item =95 BibEditor now orders the fields in the form in the following way: 1.
