thatChat is a self-hosted AI chat and customer-support platform for websites and online stores. Businesses deploy it on compatible PHP hosting, a VPS, Docker, or their own server, then add a chat widget that answers visitor questions using website content, documents, and a knowledge base. Features include FAQ responses, lead capture, appointment requests, e-commerce product questions, conversation history, and handoff from AI to human operators. Teams can connect their own AI provider API keys, including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, Groq, and other OpenAI-compatible endpoints; provider routing and fallback are supported. WordPress and PrestaShop modules are available, along with a REST API and webhooks. Conversations and knowledge data remain on the customer’s infrastructure, while AI usage is billed separately by the selected provider.
