Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros It had a nice familiar UI. It looks like Photoshop. That's the goal, and they achieved that. It's a good design. What I like most is that it feels familiar immediately. The layout, tools, shortcuts, layers, masks, adjustment layers, and PSD workflow are close enough to traditional professional image editors that there is almost no learning curve. The performance is another big plus. PhotoCraft is written natively in Rust and uses the GPU instead of wrapping everything in Electron, so the whole app feels much more lightweight than I expected. Cons Everything else. It's barely more useful than MS Paint, and only because it has layers. You're better off with basically any other free raster editor with an actual developer behind it. The main downside is that it is still early alpha. There are still some tools, advanced typography features, generative AI capabilities, and plugin compatibility on the roadmap, so it is not a complete Photoshop replacement yet.
