About

Video & Text. Private & Encrypted. Unparalleled Quality. Keet only shares end-to-end encrypted data between participants in your calls. Without middlemen, third-parties, or servers, there’s nobody left who can snoop or leak data. Keet video calls operate over direct connections between you and your friends, without using servers that can throttle your performance. You'll notice the difference. When you share a file in Keet, you don’t have to wait for it to upload. Other peers can immediately download it straight from the source. Megabytes, gigabytes, or terabytes and no limits. As your app grows beyond the hobby phase, Holepunch lets you evolve into a business without compromises. With Bitcoin Lightning and USDt micropayments built-in, it's easy to implement and use powerful paid features in apps. Peers control everything about their own data, including how it’s bought and sold. The days of tokens, ads, hidden incentives, and data harvesting are over.

About

The first messenger without user IDs. Other apps have user IDs: Signal, Matrix, Session, Briar, Jami, Cwtch, etc. SimpleX does not, not even random numbers. This radically improves your privacy. Many users asked: if SimpleX has no user identifiers, how can it know where to deliver messages? To deliver mesages, instead of user IDs used by all other platforms, SimpleX uses temporary anonymous pairwise identifiers of message queues, separate for each of your connections — there are no long term identifiers. You define which server(s) to use to receive the messages, your contacts — the servers you use to send the messages to them. Every conversation is likely to use two different servers. This design prevents leaking any users' metadata on the application level. To further improve privacy and protect your IP address you can connect to messaging servers via Tor. Only client devices store user profiles, contacts and groups; the messages are sent with 2-layer e2e encryption.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I like that no server is needed. I also loved being able to verify that with only two connections into a room, the room will not be updated with chat unless both connections are active. Like a walkie-talkie over the Internet, with video chat and simultaneous transmit/receive.

Cons

  • I am not sure how my app got updated on my PC. It said it needed to update and after a couple of restarts it was updated but that means the update came via the Holepunch relay and that is a bit scary because malware could be injected. Also, it failed with a simple VPN profile like Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 app on mobile.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Security. Anonymous presence. Encryption. Availability for Windows 64, Android, iOS, and even the terminal.

Cons

  • Not too easy the first time. It may be a little hard to start with it when one is used to playing with another messaging app.
