Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • In Google Docs I like that you have the ability to add things on tho help you with grammar and stuff. I also like how easy it is to use.
  • Google Docs is tightly integrated in the Google Apps ecosystem making it easy to manage, share and backup documents. Google Docs easily handles basic correspondence, document creation and editing. The ability to share and work on a document at the same time is very helpful. The ability to create and save Templates is very helpful for common tasks. Google Docs on Chromebooks is just as usable as on a desktop unlike Office365.
  • - The fact that it is cloud based makes it so much easy to access and edit from anywhere without having to backup so many files.
  • (+) Easy to use and adapt. (+) Powerful recommendation system for layouts and designs. (+) Online collaboration with multiple stakeholders, one can be edit, read access, multiple people can work at a time. (+) One can export the file into desired formats like pdf, doc, text. (+) Autosave of document really helps when there are power cuts or internet outages.
  • I love that it is basically the same thing as Microsoft Word, but it is free, makes documents easily shareable, and saves them to your drive.

Cons

  • The inability to make it dark mode. And also the inability to change background colors.
  • Google Docs does not manage images as well as Microsoft office. This is important when creating documentation and forms with integrated images. Google has made great strides with "Track changes" features, but Microsoft Word has a more robust system for tracking and accepting changes.
  • - The web version of Google Docs has not facility to even create folders etc. for organizing the documents better.
  • (-) Completely dependant on the internet in cases of online collaborations. (-) Sometimes editing becomes too hard because of the online recommendation. (-) Affects productivity in collaborations.
  • I sometimes have issues with the formatting, and when re-opened in another platform it will extend onto a second page, etc.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Excellent cloud-based writing tool for serious authors. Unlike standard docs, Studio is built specifically for books. The chapter management is intuitive, and the fact that it integrates directly with the Reedsy Marketplace makes it a complete ecosystem for self-publishing.
  • Reedsy was an excellent platform for writing and rebuilding my book from start to finish. It made organizing chapters, fixing formatting, and preparing the manuscript for publication simple and stress free. I especially appreciated how easy it was to turn my work into a clean, book ready download without getting lost in technical details. Reedsy let me focus on my writing and storytelling , and I would highly recommend it to any author at any stage of the process. If you have a problem, they get back to you quickly when you let them know!
  • Very easy to understand for beginners, Useful features and sweet customer service. I can happily recommend it to anyone in this industry, even beginners. I'm just afraid that if a beginner can try it, they will never want to go away, just like myself.
  • • Export Variety: Seamlessly exports to PDF, EPUB, and DOCX. • Typesetting: detailed and professional formatting happens automatically. • Structure Tools: Easy to use dividers for Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. • Usability: I’m 18 and wrote two books here easily; the learning curve is non-existent.
  • I’ve been using Reedsy Studio consistently for almost 10 months, and it has become my primary writing workspace. The interface is clean, distraction-free, and thoughtfully designed for authors. Writing, structuring chapters, and exporting to EPUB and PDF is seamless and reliable—especially valuable for indie authors working end-to-end on their books. What I appreciate most is how Studio stays out of the way and lets you focus purely on storytelling. Version control, formatting consistency, and export quality are excellent.

Cons

  • It's only accessible through the internet, it would be a plus if I was able to access Reedsy Studio offline and even better through their very own app.
  • There aren't any cons. I believe they are great at their service for writing your book.
  • I think I'm still certified so far. Answering that question will need me to do lot more research I guess. I'm so far well with it.
  • I haven't found any major downsides yet, though I’d love to see a dedicated mobile app for writing on the go in the future.
  • That said, I do have a small wishlist: native table support, better image formatting options, and more control over image placement and alignment would make Studio even more powerful—especially for non-fiction and illustrated books.
