About Excalibur View is a drawing viewer, markup and takeoff program for construction, written by a working structural steel estimator. Markups are ordinary PDF annotations, so a set marked up here opens in Bluebeam Revu or Adobe with everything in place. It imports Revu .bpx profiles and .btx tool sets with their tools, custom columns and unit weights. Measure length, area, count, volume and angle at the drawn scale. Tools carry their own unit weights, so a measured beam puts tonnage on the takeoff as it is drawn. The Shop List reads the same markups back as a cut list, with stock length, saw kerf and drops. Free for one person, including paid work, with no account and no expiry. Offices add Excalibur View Office at $250 per seat, paid once, on a machine you own. Updates are an optional $100 per seat per year. There is no cloud. Drawings, markups and takeoff never leave your hardware. Source published under the Elastic License 2.0.

Pros from Real Users Pros i like the fact you can upload your building plans directly & scale them , measure walls or floors right on your screen to get quick, accurate material counts & then turn a won estimate into a live project calendar & build Gantt charts, generate purchase orders & work orders for your subcontractors Integrates well with other programs. The Support is very good, I get answers within minutes. Well-rounded program, suits me well as a small builder. I can track my jobs in live time, labor hours through the buildxact onsite app are easily tracked to labor costings Extremely time saving, easy to use, basic but detailed enough for building. Great for sending off quotes to clients. Great for ordering with suppliers and for work orders for sub-contractors. Buildxact is user friendly, does everything from quoting, job management, ordering, accounting to timesheets.		Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros I'm not one who really gripes about privacy and data sovereignty but the ability for a company to self host everything without trusting corporations with their data I believe is going to be next level in these coming years. Its extremely seamless and I love the classic mode it kind of gives it a windows 98 style look lol. overall its freaking cool to use and the fact you can build your own plugins and modify it yourself is awesome. More construction software needs to be like this. Cons Some tools were a bit Janky which is to be expected with something so new, things like sheet overlay worked but took forever to load and was just slow.
