hi, it seems strange that your installation has to different location for ode files /usr/local and /Users/M. could be a version mismatch, or something else. just compare your output > ODE libs: /usr/local/lib/libode.dylib > ODE includes: /Users/M/.local/include/ode/ode.h with mine ODE libs: /Users/x/projects/libraries ODE includes: /Users/x/projects/libraries/include/ode/ode.h something went wrong either during the cmake-configuration, or the ode installation. my guess is the second. i had problems running the 0.8 and 0.9 ode source code tarballs. i had no problems with the svn version. on the ode mailing list other mac users had similar problems with the versioned releases. try ode svn revision 1467. cheers, keyan On 19 Jul 2008, at 20:43, Mario Negrello wrote: > Still no luck, > When i make yars, this is the initial cmake stuff. Still no luck,
When i make yars, this is the initial cmake stuff. Can you check to
see if it sounds right?

Boost problem was solved by doing the install with the prefix. (though I don't really understand why it did not work before. If i understand you right, may have to do with the way that the files are searched for, in the cmake scripts. Anyway, when i finish this, I will introduce the recommendation in the 'how to' install in the wiki.) Now i have a second problem, because cmake tries to link log4cpp, perforce, although i haven't turn log4cpp on (asaik). I will send that to the list with a proper subject. Subject: log4cpp demands to be linked M. Hi Mario, >> i temporally removed the FindBoost cmake scripts, because they were >> very ubuntu (linux) specific. they need to be updated, once the mac >> port has been completed. > So, that is why the 'boost_program_options'gives a warning, right? i am not sure what you mean. the warning that you posted last time, was added by me manually. the procedure is as follows: cmake, as we configured it, first calls find-scripts that are part of the cmake distribution (see IncludePackages.cmake). There you also find the following line: INCLUDE(FindBoost) on ubuntu it seemed that the FindBoost.cmake script, that is part of the cmake distribution return TRUE if any package of boost is installed. it returns true, also if e.g. the program options part of boost is not installed. therefore arndt added two additional findboost- scripts, which are called in the FindPackages.cmake (the stuff that we check manually). in the two scripts, he added some extra code to make sure that not only boost is available, but that the two libs that yars needs of boost are there. currently i removed these two scripts from the list, because they are os-specific. once the mac port is completed, i will add them again. but that has nothing to do with the problem that you stated. the Boost_INCLUDE_DIR is not provided by us. all variables that we define are uppercase all the way. to be honest, i dont remember what the FindBoost.cmake script does with the Boost_INCLUDE_DIR variable. you might want to look into that script, if the solutions below dont help. >> 1. its about the boost_program_options-mt-1_35 -> you have not >> installed the boost program options. with some distributions (i dont >> know about fink), you can select boost packages indvidually. > I installed boost directly on a directory underneath yars, from the > tar ball in their site, not through fink. > Should i try it with the fink install? you might try fink, but as i mentioned, i have not tried the fink installation myself, so i wont be able to help. on the other hand, it might work better with the FindBoost.cmake script. >> 2. you have not installed the version 1.35 (that is the 1_35 at the >> end) > did to. so then a solution to your problem should be quite easy to find. see below. >> 3. it could be, that the fink boost libs come without the -1_35 >> version number extension > this problem should not have happened, right? I have the external > boost install... true. but just make sure that the libraries in the external boost install directory are named: e.g. libboost_program_options-mt-1_35.dylib. if they are named slightly different, then modify the modules/apple/SetLinkOptions.cmake script. while looking for my boost installation, i saw that i did run the make install of boost, configuring it to install the libs and includes into my local external-lib directory. let me give some more details about that: in my case, i have a place on the HD where i download and compile external libs, such as ode and boost. for each i configure them to install the files into another local directory. with automake this is done by: ./configure --prefix=/Users/home/somedir. this has one major advantage: usually external packages will then ALL have the directory structure / Users/home/somedir/lib/ and /Users/home/somedir/include, so it suffices configure one prefix in the cmake script, i.e. YARS_EXTERNAL_PACKAGES_PREFIX, and then cmake/make will happily find all the files in YARS_EX.../include and YARS_EX../lib in my case, Boost_INCLUDE_DIR points to /Users/home/somedir. hope that helps. cheers, keyan |

This seems to be one of the problems. Glew has indeed to be installed via fink. But now i have a new problem, boost libraries are not being found somehow, although it was in cmake. Any ideas? Hi mario, i encountered the very same problem. could you please send me the output of: make VERBOSE=1 then i can track what exactly is wrong in your configuration. cheers, keyan On 7 Jul 2008, at 19:40, Mario Negrello wrote: > > When i finally got to the point of make, it fails like this: > > > Password: > Scanning dependencies of target yarsLib > [ 1%] Building CXX object src/CMakeFiles/yarsLib.dir/base/Segment.o > In file included from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/./util/defines.h:31, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/./gui/RenderTexture.h:63, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/./gui/DrawObject.h:33, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/./gui/DrawManager.h:32, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/./sensors/Camera.h:32, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/./base/CameraHandler.h:32, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/base/Segment.h:45, > from /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/ > trunk/src/base/Segment.cpp:29: > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./util/ > gl_defines.h:2:21: error: GL/glew.h: No such file or directory > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./util/ > gl_defines.h:4:22: error: GL/glxew.h: No such file or directory > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./gui/ > RenderTexture.h:173: error: ISO C++ forbids declaration of ‘Display’ > with no type > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./gui/ > RenderTexture.h:173: error: expected ‘;’ before ‘*’ token > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./gui/ > RenderTexture.h:174: error: ‘GLXContext’ does not name a type > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./gui/ > RenderTexture.h:175: error: ‘GLXPbuffer’ does not name a type > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./gui/ > RenderTexture.h:177: error: ‘GLXDrawable’ does not name a type > /Users/M/Cogsci/EvolExperiments/Yars/yars-svn/trunk/src/./gui/ > RenderTexture.h:178: error: ‘GLXContext’ does not name a type > make[2]: *** [src/CMakeFiles/yarsLib.dir/base/Segment.o] Error 1 > make[1]: *** [src/CMakeFiles/yarsLib.dir/all] Error 2 > make: *** [all] Error 2 > > Presumably some functions in the library i am referencing in cmake are > incompatible? > I am using the GL libraries in the framework, as keyan recommended. > Any ideas? > > M. > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Sponsored by: SourceForge.net Community Choice Awards: VOTE NOW! > Studies have shown that voting for your favorite open source project, > along with a healthy diet, reduces your potential for chronic lameness > and boredom. Presumably some functions in the library i am referencing in cmake are
incompatible?
I am using the GL libraries in the framework, as keyan recommended.
Any ideas?
