Hi, I was looking for a bit of help. In the links module, if you try to delete one of the entries, it doesn't seam to want to delete.. The only way to delete is either to enter the database and remove entries, or to delete the model of the page, which clears all the information I've installed it on several computers with no luck, apart from that everything else seams to work ok. Please can someone help? Thankx in advance. Mino |

Can you tell me the exact succession of stepts you take to reproduce this error? Also, if possible, you could give me the url of your install (and admin password) so I can take a look there. If you decide to do so please send the information on my private e-mail, don't use the list. ;) Best regards, Lars |

Bucharest, Romania - March 24, 2006 Target IT today announced the immediate availability of the latest version of its open source content management software, XHP CMS v0.5.1. Version 0.5.1 has been launched on March 24th 2006 in response to a critical vulnerability. The addressed vulnerability is described here: http://xhp.targetit.ro/index.php?page=3&box_id=34&action=show_single_entry&post_id=10 http://secunia.com/advisories/19353/ http://www.osvdb.org/displayvuln.php?osvdb_id=24059 http://www.osvdb.org/displayvuln.php?osvdb_id=24058 Also included in this release are two patches previously published for v0.5 that solve a blog page generation issue and an installation issue connected to MySQL. To update from a previous version (4.0 and up) just copy the new files over the old ones (except dbconfig.php and install.php). Please visit http://xhp.targetit.ro/ to see XHP in action, download the core, modules, templates, documentation, language packages and join the growing XHP community. Bad news... it seems we have some attention. I have reports of an XHP exploit in the wild. I will detail below so you can protect yourselft. The exploit is actually using a whole in the HTMLArea Filemanager plugin to write malicious files in the /filemanager directory. They first search Google for "Powered by XHP CMS" (consider removing that) to spot victims. Then they attack HTMLArea (which is included in XHP > v0.4), upload malicious files to the disk and use them to execute whatever the apache user has the right to execute. You can see that you were attacked if you find in your /filemanager folder files like suntzu*.php. Quick fix: 1. Remove the directory inc/htmlarea 2. Remove all files in the /filemanager directory (if you think you can see what are the malicious files and what are the files uploaded by you can delete only bad files). This will of course leave XHP crippled. We are working on a new release to fix this issue. We expect to have it ready this week-end. Lars |

Hi, I've added a blog object to a XHP page on my localhost. When as a normal user I click on the [Atom] element on the blog page I get: Object not found! The page URL being requested is: http://localhost/xhp/modules/blog/atom_0_3_71.xml I've checked and ./atom_0_3_71.xml does not exist on the server. I'm running Apache/2.0.54. I'm not sure exactly what I need to do to set up a blog and I cannot find any documentation. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve, |

I found the explanation on why writing doesn't work no matter what the permissions are: http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?group_id=1&docid=4297#environment /Group Directories are Read-Only:/ The project web servers mount project group directories read-only. I didn't know sf.net was doing this. There is no quick fix for this but I will try to find a solution this week and get back on you. P.S. Congratulations for the template! It looks great! The install script tests if the folder is writable or not and it's hard to believe it can be wrong. Cosidering it's a sf.net project, you could add me to your project (cjlars is my sf.net user) and I can take a look what exactly is wrong. Regards, Lars |

Hi Lars, Thanks for the information. I now have my XHP based site installed on sourceforge. The XHP install complains, in red, that it cannot write to several files and folders. I set all the file/folder mods the 777 prior to the install and verified them both before and after. Anyway I pressed on with the install and the site seems to be configured correctly. I can create content and its being saved and served up OK. I am unable to create any albums. No errors are reported when I try to create one. I figure this is a file protection problem too. I've checked the protection on ./albums and it's 777. Any Ideas? Thanks Steve. |

Steve Jones wrote: > My question is, does XHP work with a remote database? Hi! Long story short, you're asking the wrong question. :) XHP works very well with remote databases but this is not your problem. Your problem is that the sf.net MySql server does not accept remote connections. This is documented here: https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=4297&group_id=1#mysql_questions --- May I access my project MySQL database from outside of SourceForge.net? The MySQL database service is only accessible from the SourceForge.net shell and project web servers. May I have receive database service from SourceForge.net without hosting a project on SourceForge.net? The project database service is only available to projects hosted on SourceForge.net. --- What you should do is upload XHP to your web space on sf.net and run the installer from there, as they only accept connections to the database servers from the sf.net webservers. Hi, I'm trying to use XHP as a project homepage on sourceforge. At present the site is on my localhost and I'm trying to install XHP using the database I've created on sourceforge. In step 3 of the install process (Write config file) I've entered the remote sourceforge database details. When I click the "write" button all the input fields return to the default values. I don't get any error messages and I don't proceed to the next step. I've created a local database with the same names and passwords as the DB on sourceforge. If, in step 3, I use this database and "localhost" as the host then everything works OK and I move to step 4. My question is, does XHP work with a remote database? Thanks, Steve. |

Hi,
I've ftp'ed my entire XHP site from my hosting providers site onto my local
machine.
I've used phpMyAdmin to backup the XHP database and recreate it on my local
machine using the same name database name. On my local DB I've used
phpMyAdmin to edit the table xtp_config and change the row PAGE_URL to
http://localhost/
I've edited the ./dbconfig.php file in the mirror site root as follows:
define ("XHP_DB_HOST","localhost");
If I now point my browser at http:/localhost/ I can see my mirrored site and
my pages all display correctly - oh joy.
My problem is a cannot login as admin on the mirror. The admin page displays
with menu, header etc but the name and password boxes are missing.
I also noticed that in the MySQL xhp_pages table the Admin page_id is
different. On my local mirror its 8 whereas on the hosting site its page 0.
All the other page_id values are the same?
Any ideas as to what I've missed?
Thanks Steve.

Steve Jones wrote: > I changed the permissions after the install. Leaving them as 0777 makes me > nervous. If I set the permissions on ./filemanager back to 0777 the copy > works OK. > Hi! I need to detail a bit the file rights issue. You can't have a file manager where you upload files unless the web server has the right to write in that directory. If you are more of a tech savvy guy you can always use a FTP client to upload files there. I tried to take precautions to keep XHP as secure as possible. In this particular case, by not permitting unauthenticated users to upload. There are other directories that need write permissions. You can live without write permissions on them, but you won't be able to upload modules, language packages, templates or images. If you don't want to leave write permissions, you can change them only when you perform actions that require them (things that involve uploading files). If anyone has ideas to improve this... I'm all ears. :) Best regards, Lars |
