The problem is with access rights indeed but I can't say exactly what. 
The install script tests if the folder is writable or not and it's hard 
to believe it can be wrong.

Cosidering it's a sf.net project, you could add me to your project 
(cjlars is my sf.net user) and I can take a look what exactly is wrong.
