Hi
I'm new the the world of MACs and decided to try getting my lucent
orinoco gold card configured on the powerbook.
I have installed your drivers but the Ethernet en1 option is grayed out
along with the wireless config info. The card does show up in the menu
bar on the top.
Here is the output from you troubleshooting script.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Note : I have the same symptoms with the Cisco aironet 340

I have 3 wireless cards (2 cardbus and 1 pcmcia). I am currently dualbooting OS9.2 and OS10.2.8. In 9, all 3 cards can be inserted and recognized as inserted (i.e. don't crash the system). However, I can't locate drivers that will allow me to connect wirelessly. In X, whenever I insert the cardbus cards, I get a window popup indicating (in multiple languages) that I must reboot. If I do so with the card still inserted, it freezes at the grey screen. From a brief google of the issue, I found a page indicating that 10.3 had a rom update for cardbus support in older G3 books. <br>Cards: <br>Lucent Technologies White (not bronze, silver, or gold) model PC24E-00-FC <br>Proxim Orinoco Silver model8461-05 <br>Belkin Model F5D6020 version 3000 <br> <br>Questions: <br>1)Are there drivers that will allow me to use one of these in OS9? <br> <br>2)Do I have to upgrade to OS10.3 to use these in OSX? <br> <br>3)I am looking to get a USB/Firewire card too. Do I have to use OS9 or OSX with this? <br> |

All three of you try running the installer for the wireless driver again and then reboot the mac. |

Hi , is there a driver for OSX 10.3 Panther ? for some reason i can not do anything in the wireless config panel in my prefrences . |

I have been trying, rather unsuccessfully, to install a wireless card
on an Apple Powerbook G4 500MHz running OS X 10.3. While all the
documentation tells me that both of the cards I have tried should
work, neither have so far. At the moment, I have a Orinoco Silver in
the slot. All fields in the driver utility provided are greyed out,
and no new devices appear in the network pane (in fact, en1 or any
other device is nowhere to be found).
I ran the troubleshooting script provided in the faq. Somebody,
PLEASE HELP!!!!
Sincerely,
Jim

Hi - I'm running X.4.7 on a G3 Lombard PowerBook and tried using this driver for a Farallon Skyline 11 pn473. Not having much luck, and all the posts seem to be pre-Panther, much less Tiger. I was wondering if anyone was still updating this, using it, or had experience with it and Tiger... Thanks very much! Bill anc...@sp... |

I had been using an older version of your wireless driver to run my
Avaya PCMCIA card when using KisMac.
I wanted to update the driver to the newer vesion... so i ran your
'uninstaller' and then installed WirelessDriver beta 5.1
Now when I startup I get the message:
/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAirPort2.kext did not install
properly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it or contact
your vendor.
Yeah right, I can just imagine what apple would say!
Consequently neither my Airport card OR the Avaya PCMCIA card work (I
don't have the option of choosing En0 or En1 or anything..)
Can anyone help? I tried copying another version of
AppleAirPort2.kext into the extensions folder in case it had got
corrupted, but no difference.
Regards,
Barney.

I am presently using Beta 5.x under 10.3.9 with a WaveLAN SILVER car, on a Bronze PB G3... The release notes included with Beta5 state that AppleTalk print services are not supported. (I've been using this for some time and this appears to be true.) Having reconfigured my network, I really need the printing from this PB. Does version 6 support AppleTalk printing? Is version 6 suitable for my older hardware and system level? I.E. should I try it? Thanks, Fred Starkey |

Wireless Experts,
I've just installed OS X - Tiger on my new/used
Wallstreet (256K RAM) It works, and now I'm trying to
get my Lucent Silver Wireless card set up correctly.
I first discovered the IOXperts driver, downloaded and
installed the driver/demo version and got it to work.
The card is currently installed and working, with 30
minute demo driver. However, it costs $20, for the
full version.
I then discovered this free WirelessDriver. I have
downloaded and installed it. That went OK, but I can't
get it to work. In Preferences, Network, it shows
Wireless (en1), but only once, I assume it's using the
IOXperts driver and I can't find anyway to turn it off
or remove it, unintall it.
My guess is that I need to remove the older IOXperts
driver before I can install/use the free
WirelessDriver.
If someone is willing to help;
Do I need to remove the IOXperts driver?
How do I do that?
I ran the Wireless Config and Troubleshooting Script.
That info is pasted below, if that's helpful.
Thank you,
Bill

I'm looking for a PCMCIA card to put into a Powerbook to use with the wireless driver. The difficult part, however, is that the list of supported cards has some actual cards, and some chipsets, and websites and tech sheets for actual products almost /never/ actually tell you what hardware they used. So my question is, does anyone on this list know of a (recent) card I can pick up at a local Future Shop or Best Buy or Computer store (I'm in Canada) that will work with the wireless driver with 40 bit WEP? Thanks, Justin |

Plug and play! On a G3 333 Lombard Powerbook with OS X 10.3.9 and a D-Link Air DWL-660. The extortionware Orange drivers wouldn't recognise it but Wireless driver worked straight out of the box. Very nice work guys, I am now wireless and chuffed silly thanks to open source software. Cheers El Bizarro ______________________________________________ LLama Gratis a cualquier PC del Mundo. I have a powerbook G3 Bronze running on 10.2.8 I am trying to use a wireless card I have two a NETGEAR 511T which when I slide in locks the system up to the gray screen--and does the same on the reboot, but the green activity light does come on. Then I also have a Dell TruMobile 1150 card that when I plug in the card shows up in the upper right tool bar-but no TX light activity. I have your software downloaded but it doesn't seem to recognize at least the Dell card. Any help or suggestions?? Thanks Tim Gilvin |
