as we usually work through bug/patch items in tracker. One developer 
already applied your update to CVS. But there seems to be couple of 
open questions. Can you look at that item?

Yes, there is with 2.2.0 :( Those strings are embedded as binary init 
data in RC-file. Its now fixed in latest experimental releases, but 
since it affects all translators it can't be fixed for 2.2.x. :(

[Winmerge-support] Winmerge translation to Spanish

 I have been waiting for Kevin L. Myrup to send me
 the work he has done (to complete it) , but haven't
 received any mail back from him for a week, so I
 have translated the full Merge.rc file, compiled and
 visually tested it (except some error messages,
 don't know how to force them). 
 I'm attaching the "spanish-Spain modern" versions of
 the MergeSpanish.rc and Mergespanish.lang files,
 ready to be merged with the project. Please, change  

 the file extension to ZIP and uncompress.
 
 I have found a problem with the Options->Versioning

[Winmerge-support] Diff of UTF-8 encoded files

Hi,
 
I have 2 xml files encoded with UTF-8. There are bunch of cyrillic letters
in them. WinMerge creates diff for them just fine, but cyrillic letters
displayed unreadable. How can I make WinMerge to show cyrillic letters?

(Not so much, but hopefully more later..)

Like you can see from status-page Spanish translation is very old and 
not updated since 1.7.x release (few years ago). So its almost same 
than English currently.

Dean Grimm is original translator, but he is not updating it anymore.

However, there is this item in bug list

Not that I know of.

In general we don't consider single fileformats worth special support. 
However XML might be the one format we have to add better support 
later.

I don't know if that's possible with WinCVS. You can set WinMerge as 
external diff tool, but that doesn't help with merging I think? And 
even if you set WinMerge as diff tool, you have to use batch file (like 
described in Manual's FAQ since WinCVS cannot parse commandlines 
correctly. :(

Well, I think some script could be written for WinCVS, but I know 
nothing about those WinCVS scripts. You should ask about those in 
WinCVS/cvsqui mailing list..

I have downloaded your program in order to compare my text/doc files =
(originals) to my html webpages to make sure both are current and =
correct identical copies so that I can use my text/doc files to recreate =
my webpages quickly if something happens to them.  When I try to compare =
the two, I get an error message that WinMerge cannot compare binary =
files....which is too vague to understand what it means since other text =
compare programs I have tried don't have a problem with what I want to =
do.

I have even tried comparing the text files to .doc files and got the =
same error message.

If your program can be configured to do what I want, I can't locate that =
option in the help files anywhere.  If this particular program can't do =
what I need, do you have a trial version of another program that I can =
download, test, and pay for if it does suit my needs?

WinMerge 2.2 stable was released yesterday.

It contains support for latest 7-zip beta 4.10. But not for earlier 
betas.

Sorry for late answer!

Nobody's tested this but I think WinMerge should be able to compare 
files up to 1GB. However that would require a lot of memory and time 
since WinMerge's method is not very efficient for such big files.

No we haven't heard about this. I assume you are using version 2.0.2? 
Would it be possible for you to try latest beta release (2.1.6) or 
latest experimental release (2.1.7.11)? Lots of code have been 
rewritten so this problem may have been fixed too (I hope!).

If there is no any disk activity it suggests WinMerge somehow cannot 
open directories or detects them as empty ones.

Anyway, more information to reproducing/tracking this would be nice:
- does it happen with certain directories?
- if so, which kind of directories? network shares?

I love WinMerge. It has become one of the tools I depend on, especially =
for team work. You know how much some people hate cvs, so manual merging =
is always needed, and winmerge kicks butt for this.

However, I have seen that sometimes when doing a directory comparison, =
nothing happens. (Yes, I have all the thing in the "View" menu enabled.) =
It is instantly done, with no noticable disk activity. The "directory =
comparison" window does appear, but with nothing in it. Are you guys =
aware of this?

about 800MB each.  can winmerge give me the diff on these two?  thanks for
