Looking through the archives I've found that Chuck and Jamie were talking about working on a module for Xen. Was there any progress? I'm interested in helping finish the project or get it off the ground if there's still interest. Thanks, mark |

Is your server in a co-location or data center facility? If so, these are probably other customers' Webmin servers running on the same network. The broadcast searches your local network for other Webmin servers, and apparently it found some. If you are not supposed to have access to them (and you probably won't be able to log into them anyway), then you should delete them from your Webmin Servers list. Alan |

It seems that when I switch users back to individual preferences for modules for each user, they can now see all users info and listings. i.e. 1)I switch a user to a group. 2)I switch the user back to 'None' for group, and select individual module preferences. 3)In any module dealing with more than one user, the user can now see ALL users in that module. 'Read Mail' for example, now shows all users, not just the one associated with that username. And that user can now read the mail of each and every user listed as well (I checked). -Mike |

And here is a 'bug': When changing a user back from a group to 'none', I selected 'None' from the drop-down for groups and clicked on the modules I want the user to see. While the group is changed, the modules preferences were not saved. What I have had to do is select the new group preference, save, and go back in and change the module preferences. :) -Mike MWS wrote .. > Here are a couple of things that happen when I do that: > > 1) When using webalizer or awstats as part of the group, each member of > the group can see ALL other webalizer or awstats listings, not just their > own (i.e. they see everyone on the server listed). > > 2) Is there a way to mass-add users to group, or can it be done only one > user at a time? > > -Mike > > > Jamie Cameron wrote .. > > Ah .. in that case, you need to create a Webmin group, and the assign > > all your users to it. From: Prodos (Melbourne, Australia) Greetings! One of my sites was subjected to a DoS (Denial of Service) attack a few days ago and this crashed my server. A colleague, who is a Linux expert - but I don't know how experienced he is with WEBMIN - has helped me get things back to normal. I've been going through my WEBMIN settings/configurations and checking things. Unfortunately, this is not something I'm particularly good at. Anyway, I went into a section called "Webmin Servers" where there is a button called "Broadcast for servers". I clicked on that button and 4 items appeared: districthost.com:10000 server4.vectrahost.net:10000 gamelinkage.com:10000 deranet.com:47482 Can anyone tell me what these are? Are these supposed to be part of my server? They are not domain names I'm familiar with. I don't understand what they have to do with my server. Thanks for any help or advice about this. Happy New Year, PRODOS http://prodos.thinkertothinker.com "Boring updates on exciting projects." |

Here are a couple of things that happen when I do that: 1) When using webalizer or awstats as part of the group, each member of the group can see ALL other webalizer or awstats listings, not just their own (i.e. they see everyone on the server listed). 2) Is there a way to mass-add users to group, or can it be done only one user at a time? -Mike Jamie Cameron wrote .. > Ah .. in that case, you need to create a Webmin group, and the assign > all your users to it. I think I ran into this one when doing Virtualmin development for CentOS .. and it turned out to be an un-avoidable PostgreSQL bug :( The only work-around was to disable the use of DBI, which can be done on the Module Config page of the PostgreSQL module. - Jamie |

Ah .. in that case, you need to create a Webmin group, and the assign all your users to it. This can also be done in the Webmin Users module. Once this is done, any module changes made to the group will apply to all the member users as well. - Jamie On Fri, 2005-12-30 at 18:36, MWS wrote: > Sorry - I guess I should be more specific. > > I know that module can do it, but what do you do when you want many users to all use the same module (like maybe a new one)? Hey Jamie... one other thing sort of related. In Virtualmin when a new
virtual server is created and also when a new alias to a virtual server
is added, once the updates are finished there is only a link back to
virtualmin and no link back to the virtual server just created. Not such
a big deal until you have more than you wish to display.. sending you
through the search for virtual server with this name system.
I've been using the back button in the browser for the latter situation,
but there isn't a direct way in otherwise. It would be one of those
little interface niceities!
Also, in the anal category.. :) the help links when choosing what to
create for a alias server seem gives this error on the directory link.
Error

*Failed to read help file /usr/libexec/webmin/virtual-server/help/dir.html*

I have a few suggestions: 1) In Usermin - the list of mailboxes in the drop down is not in alphabetical order when you are in the window reading an email (i.e. you go to file it and the drop-down is in the order the files or directories were created, not in alphabetical order). 2) In Virtualmin - maybe we could be able to sort the list of domains by the domain name instead of the username? Or an option for that? Thanks, -Mike |
