It looks as though I can create webmin users to edit thier own slave's (offer dns service to friends so they can create, edit thier own backup dns) I'm just now playing around with this. Is it possible to get webmin to also create them in my backup dns server at the same time? -- Highest Regards, Rodney Richison RCR Computing http://www.rcrnet.net 118 N. Hi Jamie,
I just found a bug in the latest LDAP Users module. I just tried
deleting a user by selecting them from the list of users and hitting the
"Delete Selected Users" button. The IMAP folders for the user don't get
removed if I do it that way. Looks like it leaves their LDAP
addressbook entry too ....
Deleting from other modules ..
.. done
Deleting LDAP user entry ..
.. done
Removing from groups ..
.. done
Deleting home directory ..
.. done
If I do it the old way of clicking on the user in the list and then
hitting the Delete button on the bottom-right, the IMAP folders do get
deleted ....
Deleting from other modules ..
.. done
Removing from groups ..
.. done
Deleting LDAP user entry ..
.. done
Deleting from addressbook ..
.. done
Deleting home directory ..
.. done
Deleting IMAP folder ..
.. done
Regards
Murray

It would be a useful for our company to have a quota field appear in the LDAP Users module containing the user's current quota so we can give them a larger one than the default if required. Hmmm... setting up a new server and looking at the configs on a running system.. I'm lost! :) Quotas... in Virtualmin, I see where to set mailuser quota limits, but I don't see where to set the user/group quotas for the vhost? I could have sworn this was in Virtualmin before? Looking in Quotas on the running system, there are no setting for quota limits on user or group, but Virtualmin uses my default setting that I had to have entered somewhere!! eeek! So, has that setting been removed from Virtualmin and perhaps now needs to be set through the Disk Quotas interface? Or, have I just lost my mind? Thanks, John Hinton |

Hi Jamie, Just setting up the latest version of the module. We haven't used IMAP quotas yet. I want a default Cyrus quota of 1GB for new users - what format(s) do I enter that in the IMAP quota field - Bytes ,MB, GB? Maybe which ever one(s) it is could be put in brackets - eg. Default quota for new Cyrus users (MB). Thanks Murray |

Hi, Does re-starting Usermin with the commands /etc/usermin/stop ; /etc/usermin/start help? From: Prodos Howdy again! I think I solved the problem! After hours and hours of trying, I sent this list my note below. But as soon as I'd sent it, I went back to searching using Google.com and keywords. Then lo behold I found this 4 year old post by Jamie Cameron @ http://lists.swelltech.com/pipermail/webmin-l-archive/2002-February/009372.html ... where he writes: Click on Module Config and change the 'Allow wildcards' option to Yes, and webmin will let you create them. So, I did that and was able to add the "wildcard" address. Thanks Jamie for helping someone else 4 years ago. And 4 minutes ago! ;-) Best Wishes, PRODOS http://CelebrateCapitalism.ORG "Why? From: Prodos Greetings. SUMMARY I am trying to add: *.mydomainname.com. ... in the section section called "Add Address Record" but keep getting an error message. DETAILS This is how I get to "Add Address Record" ... I log into my WEBMIN and then ... Servers >> Bind DNS Server >> "Add Address Record" >> [then I enter my domain name in the "Find zones marching:" search box under the heading "Existing DNS Zones"] >> "Edit Master Zone" >> [I click the link under the big letter "A" which has under it Address (4)] >> Address Records And now I have a form called "Add Address Record" I fill it out as follows: Name: *.mydomainname.com. [Note there is a full-stop at the end] Address: I use the same one as all the other names listed on the page i.e. mydomainname.com ... www.mydomainname.com ... ftp.mydomainname.com ... etc.] Update: It is checked on "Yes" and I leave that alone Time-To-Live: It is checked on "Default" and I leave that as is. I click the button "Create" But I get this error message: Failed to save record : '*.mydomainname.com.' is not a valid record name [I have, of course, replaced my actual domain name with "mydomainname.com" in this error message.] OTHER INFORMATION A coder who did a job for me last year created a [ *.mydomainname.com. ] type of entry for a different domain - one that was set up to generate subdomains "on the fly" (if that's the right term for it). I've looked at the settings for that other *.mydomainname.com. but can't see anything that can help me understand. HELP? Any suggestions or tips please? Is there something else I need to do? Thank you! :-) Best Wishes, PRODOS http://prodos.thinkertothinker.com "Boring updates on exciting projects." |

thanks... I did tried with Plans... was very fast to install :)... of course.. will require a lot of work to really implement it within usermin... I need to check their authentication system... and see how it could be change to use usermin's... also, I'll need to see if it is possible to change from an unified data directory to a separate data directory per user. But in the meanwhile... it solves my problem. Cheers!
