[webmin-l] Virtualmin problems

I am trying to create a virtual domain (using virtualmin) - hamdram.org.uk.
I clicked add new domain and filled in the various fields, choosing
defaults as much as possible.

I have set up a group - virtgrps which I use as the group for unix
user because using the same group as mail users produced an error.

When I click save I get the following:
Creating home directory ..
.. done

Creating Unix group hamdram ..
Failed to create Unix group!

On looking in the groups in user and groups module I see that the
group has been created.

How can I progress further?

Webmin is 1.270 and virtualmin is 2.610

Anything interesting going on in the apache error logs?

Also, not sure, but since you seem to be asking about php configuration, 
you might want to double check php.ini. Maybe it is not getting copied 
correctly from one machine to the other?

Anything version specific in the php code?

Is the php code hand-rolled, or is it based on an open source system?

I probably won't be able to offer much in response to answers of these 
questions,but they seem like good ones to help you identify a path to go 
down in solving your problem. Hope they help.

Hi Greg,
The Apache directives are there. It's the PHP scripting calls that 
apparently worked while calling foo.html when the filename was 
foo.htm. But it's the plethora of scripting errors that these Cpanel 
sites seemed to be able to process but my standard setups won't let 
through.

I even set up the server to replicate the Cpanel servers, apache 
1.3.34, php 4.4.2, mysql 4.1.14. Like I say, some I was able to add a 
missing slash or two for includes to make some work, fix a spelling 
error. But debug shows errors like undefined constants and such 
and apache is throwing it's sessions files in the /tmp directory. The 
mysql databases are opening up for the scripts, and they are being 
read and applied, that's why I'm at a loss. I don't know if there is a 
PHP setting in webmin I'm missing or what

aweful time trying to get websites to work correctly that came off of

[webmin-l] Read User Mail Broken After Webmin Upgrade

Hello,

I recently upgraded to Webmin 1.270 and all seems to work asit used to – except for “mailboxes.”  When I click to readuser mailboxes, a screen comes up as it should with “Read User Mail”in a blue tab in the upper left.  Below that, is a grey bar that says “Usermailboxes” and then a small thin row below (where the mailboxes used toshow).  There are no errors in the log files and none displayed on screen.  Idid not change anything in the configuration from the time it was working withmy older version of webmin (can’t remember the version, but it wasinstalled about 8 months ago).

 

Any ideas on why the actual user mailboxes aren’tbeing displayed?

Hmmm,
When I installed spam assassin I went through the webmin 
command module and I let configure take care of the defaults then 
went through make and make install. Spam assassin will then 
generally fail, listing the missing modules for you. THen open a 
NEW window (saves logging in again), copy each missing module 
name into CPAN and let it rip. The CPAN may also determine more 
needed modules during the install, just tell it to install those also. 
Outside of the tedium of cut and paste it beats the heck out of 
google, find, dowload, untar & install over and over. That should also 
take care of the environment headache.

Thank you both for the answers. I can't see any option to add every
uninstalled perl modules to my server. Without it, i must to add 
every
module one by one... and that's to much time to expend in.
Otherwis, i all ready did that steps to add the perl module i have
mentioned ( Digest::SHA1), but after all, i need to input the
environment variables and arguments for the MAKE.PL ,  and i don't
know what to put there... i'm new in this. (all this thing after CPAN
has downloaded the module, but before installing it)

If you can give another solution chance, it would be better.

In 99% of cases, you can leave those fields empty. Some Perl modules
require extra parameters to specify the paths to libraries and config
files (such as DBD::Pg), but they are in the minority.

Go to "other" then click the PERL mod. Use the CPAN to install all 
of the uninstalled modules, it works like a champ. I'd be lost without 
it, Great work Jamie!!!

Hi Grant,
The way the Webalizer module works is that it looks at the log files for =
virtual servers currently in your Apache configuration, and then displays=
 one entry in the table on the module's main page for each.

It does support have a custom .conf file for each Apache log, which you c=
ould set to those you have already by clicking on the link for the log on=
 the main page. However, there is no way at the moment to mass-import exi=
sting .conf files automatically, unless you write a Perl script to edit f=
iles in /etc/webmin/webalizer.

Both Webmin and Virtualmin are fully supported on Solaris 10, and there i=
s even a module for managing zones. The only small problem is that Solari=
s doesn't have group quotas, so the domain-level quota enforcement in Vir=
tualmin doesn't work.

I using Virtualmin with Linux and FreeBSD and works great.

Now I would like to try with Solaris 10 within a Solaris zone.


Virtualmin works with Solaris ? It's in production state ?

[webmin-l] Webalizer Stats

Hi all,

I was toying around with webalizer this morning, and decided to take a look 
at the 'Webalizer' module in Webmin.

Please excuse me if this feature already exists ...

I have several hundred domainname.com.conf like files in my 
/usr/local/webalizer config directory. Is it/would it be possible to 
configure webalizer to handle them, i.e. configure them so that they show up 
as a list of icons, similar to the way ProFTPd or Apache virtual hosts do?
