Is there a way currently to have certain services / CPU processes monitored with Webmin, and have the services restarted if they go down. I was looking at the Webmin Monitor script but it wasn't restarting the HTTP like I wanted it too. Thanks, David Coley Codecipher |

Ok, that makes sense now .. you are seeing a bug that existed in Webmin 1.260, but has been fixed in the 1.270. - Jamie |

I have tried what you suggest and it happens only on "Apply Changes" when=20 direct restart command is executed within webmin (in my case=20 '/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart'). stop, start -> ok, clean (*) stop, start, apply(start-stop) -> ok, clean (*) stop, start, apply(apachectl) -> ok, clean (*) stop, start, apply(command) -> not clean So setting on the module config "Command to apply configuration" to "Run st= op=20 and start commands" or "Use apachectl or HUP signal" solves the problem (*) Clean mostly as : _ENV["SERVER_REALROOT"] /usr/libexec/webmin _ENV["PWD"] /usr/libexec/webmin/apache/ keep set. Does this still happen if you stop and re-start Apache from within Webmin? I am pretty sure this problem is fixed by clearing all environment variables before calling Apache, although if you just do a restart or apply changes Apache may still be inheriting variables from a previous incorrect version of Webmin. Also, are you using Virtualmin there? It has its own slightly different Apache restart code. - Jamie ------------------------------------------------------- All the advantages of Linux Managed Hosting--Without the Cost and Risk! Hello list,
is it possible to define a "Email message subject" with a special command?
I have multiple machines, which are all identically configured. Therefore I need a command in my "Email message subject".
I want to use a subject "daily `uname -n`" so I could determine the name of the machine. Is it possible?
Best regards,
Hans
You might want to just use the default subject, which includes the hostname. Apart from that, there is no
other way to include it in the subject line .. although I may add support for using variables like ${HOSTNAME} in the next Webmin release.

- Jamie |

This would be fine!
The default subject has not enough informations...

One other question.. When using the update non-core modules.. I get this.

This happens everytime, except the actual download doesn't happen unless

affecting anything except for my mind.. which is 'affected' enough. ;)

I have upgraded Webmin to 1.270. Under the Proxy Servers and Downloads
section, I have set it to a superb-east (and tried another connection as
well).
When using the 'Upgrade Webmin' module to try to upgrade Virtualmin (by
checking Update non-core modules as well) I keep getting the following
error.
*Updating Webmin modules ..*
Module *file* is already up to date.
Module *ldap-useradmin* is already up to date.
Updating module *virtual-server* to version *2.611*.
Latest version of Virtualmin.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Failed to update modules : Failed to connect to
osdn.dl.sourceforge.net:80 : Connection refused
Any ideas about how to fix this?

Hello, I have a server running centos 4.2 with dovecot, postfix and virtualmin. I have create with virtuamin two domains and they are running without any issues. I can access them by ftp, web and send/receive emails using squirrelmail. Now I would like to know how can I give access by POP3 when I'm not in the same network as the server is. When I'm on the same network I can use pop3, but when I'm not, I have "relay access denied". Any tip would be appreciated. Best regards, Bruno Sousa |

Hi all, This must be the single most ridiculous situation I found myself in lately, and maybe someone can help me on this one. By mistake, I changed the root password using plain text in the "pre encrypted" password field, thus locking myself out. My system is very secure now, to say the least... I do not wish to retreive the password (it's probably in some form of hash), but is there a way to make use of my human readable password to correspond to the way it is now stored on the system? I've noticed that the pre encrypted field had been hashed upon saving the root user profile. Any help on that would be most welcome, to say the least. Frank |
