Many thanks Jamie TLS will be used by corporate companies more and more now. The whole technology of microsoft's Live communication Server will not work without= TLS. For internal networks only tcp and the udp is needed last time I heard. Once their office 2007, sharepoint 3 is released, you will find that Serv= ice records are going to play a big role next year. I will let you know if anything else comes up. Also thanks again for your help on all my bind issues, we now host close = to 600 domains on bind. All of it is managed by webmin accross several machines (cluster slaves) Jamie Cameron (jca...@we...) wrote: > > On 23/May/2006 07:54 ax...@ax... wrote .. > > Hi > > > > The option to enter TLS as a protocol is not available in the service= records. > > The possible options are only TCP and UDCP. > > > > I have to edit the zone file manually to put in the TLS options as a = service > > record. After all "Disk and Network Filesystems" knows already if > and what quotas are enabled... Yes, in the current design on Webmin /etc/fstab is needed. In fact, many commands like quotaon/quotaoff won't enable quotas unless they can find an entry in /etc/fstab. I strongly recommend using it where you can, and only using a custom script to mount filesystems that cannot be handled by /etc/fstab for some reason .. otherwise you are re-inventing the wheel :) - Jamie |

Ah, this might be the problem. We do not use /etc/fstab to mount the disks, we use custom made shell scripts which mounts the filesystems we want under certain conditions. Is an entry in /etc/fstab really necessary? After all "Disk and Network Filesystems" knows already if and what quotas are enabled... Regards, Marc |

This works, thanks! This should be a built-in feature. Thanks Dave I -----Original Message----- From: web...@li... [mailto:web...@li...] On Behalf Of Jamie Cameron Sent: Tuesday, May 23, 2006 1:37 PM To: web...@li... Subject: Re: [webmin-l] Maintaining a Webmin login session On 23/May/2006 10:28 Dave Isaacs wrote .. I have noticed that when logged into Webmin on a remote computer, I can restart Webmin and even reboot the entire computer and maintain my login session. That is, once the computer is back up I can resume my existing Webmin session without having to log in again. This occurs whether or not I have enabled session authentication on the Webmin Configuration/Authentication page. I would prefer that when the computer is restarted, any existing Webmin sessions are discarded. Is this possible? Thanks Dave Isaacs There is no built-in feature for this ... but you could hack it by switching to session authentication mode, and then adding a bootup script that runs before Webmin it started to delete /var/webmin/sessiondb* - Jamie |

That is correct, Webmin cannot convert NIS users to its own internal users as it cannot get their passwords using the standard getpw* functions. However, there is another option called 'Unix user authenticatioin' which you can use to allow Unix users (from /etc/passwd, NIS or LDAP) to login to Webmin. However, it depends on the Authen::PAM perl module being installed, and /etc/pam.d/webmin being set up. - Jamie |

I didn't know that TLS was an allowed protocol in SRV records when I added that feature. It will be supported in the next release though. Do you know of any other protocols (apart from TCP and UDP) that are allowed in SRV records? - Jamie |

The problem may be that it is one of the types not supported by Webmin .. right now, only quotas on ext2, ext3 and xfs are handled. - Jamie |

The list just shows available plugins - you need to select (ctrl-click) them to make them active. - Jamie |

There are a couple of ways of doing this : 1) Login to Webmin, and go to Usermin Configuration -> Usermin Module Configuration -> Read Mail , and change the 'Default hostname for From: addresses' . 2) In Usermin, click on the Manage Address Book button, and add a new entry with the preferred from address. Make sure 'Yes, Default' is selected from the drop-down menu next to it. - Jamie |

Thanks Dave Isaacs |

Dear List Members Is it true that webmin does not support NIS users as webmin users? When I choose "Convert Users" I can choose from NIS users but when I start "Convert now" the chosen user is not in the presented list; it seems that only local users are in this list. Regards, Marc |

Hi The option to enter TLS as a protocol is not available in the service rec= ords. The possible options are only TCP and UDCP. I have to edit the zone file manually to put in the TLS options as a serv= ice record. Once I edit the file manually and then click on the drop down lis= t, the list of protocols is expanded to include TLS. So this means for each of my domain that I host voice for, I need to firs= t edit the zone file manually to put in the TLS sections. Is this done on purpose or is TLS just too new to be in webmin? |

Dear List Members The "Disk Quotas" module tells me "No local filesystems can support quotas". But this is not true! because in the "Disk and Network Filesystems" I see for each local file system that quotas are enabled for "User and Group". This is RedHat Enterprise Linux 4 Up 2. Am I doing something wrong? Regards, Marc |

Hi a few customers like using usermin to access their mail but don't like having to insert their From: address each time. say user fred_bloggs logs in can you add a save preferences so the fre...@th... is not used but fr...@hi... is instead. Maybe :) Is it really necessary to create synlinks from /var/named to the chroot directory? Normally when BIND is run in a chroot environment, it will always look for named.conf and the zone files under /var/named/chroot , meaning that the files under /var/named are never accessed directly. So Webmin doesn't bother to create then .. - Jamie |
