Hi everyone, Webmin version 1.300 is now available for download from http://www.webmin.com/ and mirror sites. This release includes the following changes : - Fixed security holes that allow the source of Webmin programs to be viewed, and allow cross-site-scripting attacks. - XML-RPC clients can now call Webmin API functions. - On systems with no root password, users with sudo access can login to Webmin as root. - Improved support for latest Debian and Fedora releases, including the new IPtables config system in Debian 3.1. - The file manager can now extract tar.bz2 files, store a history of entered paths, and show the total size of a directory. - The Filesystem Backup module can backup and restore TAR and dump files over FTP. - MySQL server variables and connections can be viewed and changes. - Table data can be sorted by clicking on headers in the MySQL and PostgreSQL modules. - Improved support for PostgreSQL 8, including editing tables with no OID field. - Sendmail and Postfix aliases and maps can have a comment associated with each entry. - Squid 2.6 is now supported. - A bunch of other small bugfixes and features. Also available is Usermin 1.230, which has numerous improvements and fixes in the Read Mail, MySQL and PostgreSQL modules. The most important of which is improved IMAP mode support, in which all mail folders are taken automatically from an IMAP server. As always, please send me any bug reports or feature suggestions that you might have. - Jamie |

I can't replicate this in Webmin 1.300, sorry.. - Jamie |

Ok, I see what you mean now .. In the Webmin Users module on the access control page for the Users and Groups module, is the 'Delete user in other modules?' option set to 'Always on' ? - Jamie |

I am not good in cgi coding :( otherwise I would have done it. It should be simple. <br /> <br /> It can be easily done by using Ajax from perl. So when user clicks on upload read call on server is reading over http connection. <br /> <br /> Current code is in web-lib-funcs.pl <br /> ____________________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> # transfer data <<this code is web-lib-funcs.pl>> <br /> <br /> local $got; <br /> open(PFILE, $_[2]); <br /> while(read(PFILE, $buf, 1024) > 0) { <br /> =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 print CON $buf; <br /> =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 $got +=3D length($buf); <br /> <br /> // change here would be to write data back to browser. I guess u can suggest this to jamie... <br /> // use simple ajax <br /> <br /> =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 &$cbfunc(3, $got) if ($cbfunc); <br /> =A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0=A0 } <br /> close(PFILE); <br /> close(CON); <br /> ____________________________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br /> I wish it was in java I could have done this with in few hrs.. :( <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> thanks <br /> abhay dabholkar <br /> <br /> <br /> morrish wrote On 08/30/06 11:42,: <br /> <br /> <blockquote type=3D"cite">Here's another that is a spin off from megaupload. Hi Jamie
i appreciate there is the easy-to-use form but i was referring to quick edit
of the template file its self.
a bit like editing say the manually editing the procmail file without having
to go to the file manager.
just seems like it would be easy enough to add this feature.
i have not had time to look into all the setting of Virtualmin as i don't
have a standard set-up and it seemed to add files in places that i don't
want them. maybe i need to play with it on my testbed server in the office.

If you are using Virtualmin, you should be able to edit it on the Server
Templates page. If you are just using the BIND module directly, there
is an easy-to-use form for defining records for new zones on the Zone
Defaults page.

Thanks Jamie
i remembered all but the ${IP}
it may have been suggested before but any plans the have the template file
accessible in the bind module for editing directly?
its a bit of a "bind!" having to go to file manager to make changes.

50 concurrent connections doesn't mean 50 users though - it only means there is a limit of 50 HTTP requests active at any one time. Since users reading mail tend to make a request and then view a page for a while, the number of actual logged-in users support would be much higher than 50 .. perhaps 250 at a rough estimate. - Jamie On 13/Sep/2006 12:29 Marcos Rubinstein wrote .. > uff... reading this: > > > There is built-in limit on the number of user accounts, but there is > > a default limit of 50 concurrent connections. (I love to use usermin... mostly because I feel it is much more secure that any webmail over Apache + PHP, and Jamie's active and helpful participation in this list) Cheers! You need to have lines in your template like :
@ IN A ${IP}
www IN A ${IP}

Dear sir
How many webmin's user that webmin system can create ? and How
many maximum concurrent connection to connect webmin system?
I think webmin's user is depended on disk size. But How to
calculate disk size of each webmin's user.
Thanks all.

The problem here is that the format of Dovecot's config file changed in
the 1.0.something release, and Webmin doesn't yet support the new format.
In fact, it can even add incorrect lines as you saw, causing Dovecot to fail
to start.
Until I fix this in Webmin, there only solution is to edit dovecot.conf manually.
I have no idea WHY they felt the need to change the config format (for the 3rd time!) -
the new layout doesn't really enhance its capabilities as far as I can see.

I am trying to use webmin to administer dovecot, but I think that something
changed in last dovecot version.
If I use webmin to manage dovecot 0.99.14, if I enter under user and login
options
plain-text
standard unix user database
defaut PAM service dovecot
and save and restart, everything is OK
If I use webmin to manage dovecot 1.0.beta3 (the last version available in
suse 10.1) if I enter the same settings I cannot restart dovecot.
It says:
Starting dovecot Error: Error in configuration file
/etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf line 621: Unknown setting: userdb
..failed
the "region" of dovecot.conf file interested by this error is this:
auth default {
# Space separated list of wanted authentication mechanisms:
# plain digest-md5 cram-md5 apop anonymous gssapi
mechanisms = plain
userdb = passwd
passdb = pam
if I remove the two lines
userdb = passwd
passdb = pam
dovecot starts again, but there is no chance to login (both imap and pop3)
apart from localhost (which is considered a trusted host)
I think that something changed in the structure of dovecot configuration
file; is it correct ?
And if it is, when we will have an updated webmin module ?
thanks in advance,
Andrea
