Hi all, I am using Webmin, a very useful tool btw, to manage users on many Unix platforms. The hurdle I came across is the fact that Webmin does not fully support HP-UX in Trusted Mode. I would like to know, since I did not find any threads on mailing lists regarding that matter, if there is an on-going effort to support the Trusted Mode. I would really like to see it supported as all of the HP-UX installs I do are being setup in Trusted Mode. If need be, I am willing to run with that flag and make it happen. Please let me know if I can be of any help in order to resolve this issue. You should be able to login just the same as you would for a normal Usermin login. Be aware that this is still rather experimental, and I've had problems with some DAV clients. > 3) How do I restrict the Java file manager applet to the users home directory? > Is it safe? :-) In Usermin? Login to Webmin, and go to Usermin Configuration -> Usermin Module Configuration -> File Manager. On the form that appears, there are fields for limiting users to their home dir or other dirs. - Jamie |

Hello! 1) No matter what I try, Usermin says it's 1.230.. I've tried downloading/upgrading/whatever.. is it supposed to be 1.230? 2) What DAV credentials should I enter on the client? The same port as Usermin? As webmin? Davs (HTTPS) or Dav (HTTP)? Etc.. I get a failure no matter what I try; I have DAV working against other servers. 3) How do I restrict the Java file manager applet to the users home directory? Is it safe? :-) -joho |

Interesting. We're using KAV 5.0 on our Windows stations, with licenses for all the Unix and server versions. I haven't gotten around to putting it on our mail and file servers yet, but will definitely be throwing the Webmin module in. Now that I know about it. :) ---- Freddie Cash, LPIC-2 CCNT CCLP Helpdesk / Network Support Tech. School District 73 (250) 377-HELP [377-4357] fc...@sd... hel...@sd... |

Is anyone out there using Kaspersky antivirus on Linux? I noticed on their website that they use a Webmin module for configuration of their Linux version. I'd be interested to here how people like it. (I realize that everyone thinks that viruses are not an issue with Linux or OS X but I suspect it is just a matter of time before we start having virus problems with both.) --Doug |

There is some problem at sourceforge, where the site is hosted - all of their project websites are down. Trevor - Don't know why it's down but I noted it in a previous thread a few minutes ago so at least two of us know it is down - it is pretty rare in my experience though.... I know this probably isn't the best way of finding out information about this subject, but I was attempting to go to the webmin site just a moment ago and it's a blank white page, and all of the other pages seem to be missing. Just thought I would pop this out there to see if it was known and/ or if anyone knew any information on why it is down. Trevor |

I am building headless machines, and I'd like to be able to have a post-install script that can set up various things including webmin. Normally I grab the latest rpm from sourceforge, but you have to jump a few hoops in a browser to get a url - I could jsut save the url, but then when there is a webmin update, it will be wrong again. Which leads to another question for Jamie: Is it possible to have sourceforge or other repositories have a link to "webmin-latest.whatever"? > Those are, by definition, command line (it's not a > good idea to install it using YUM,(IMnotHO)). If so, Jamie > will have to address that. I believe it's there but not documented. I think it is too because I have asked that in the past. But that is not my question for today although it is a good one :) Best, Barry |

Barry wrote: > Is there a way to install webmin from a command line on a fresh FC5 machine? Given that one installs it from an RPM or a tarball, I don't understand what you are asking. Those are, by definition, command line (it's not a good idea to install it using YUM,(IMnotHO)). Are you asking, can Webmin be driven from a command line? If so, Jamie will have to address that. I believe it's there but not documented. Good luck! Paul > Thanks! > > Barry > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more? Hi all, My problem is specific to postfix configuration, How can I specify multiple smtp destination server per domain ? In sendmail I did: frameweb.it smtp:[192.168.69.4]:[192.168.69.3] but it is not possible to use this syntax in postfix transport file frameweb.it smtp:[192.168.69.4]:25 and then you cannot add : or , or (blank)......nor I can add another line again with frameweb.it I know it is not a specific issue about webmin, but I was non able to find this information elsewhere (I am a bad searcher ? I think so....)... Anyway: couldn't it be fine to add this feature to webmin ? So you can add high availability per domain smtp destination without having to manually edit the file .. Thanks in advance, Andrea Chi ricevesse questa mail per errore e' gentilmente pregato di cancellarla. Visitate il sito http://www.frameweb.it |
