Hi Carlos, Those fields are for creating the initial table in the database. Creating a user who can access it is done on the User Permissions page, and also on the Database Permissions page. Hi, I'm quite new to Webmin, so I guess I need some kind of support since I only used paid panels before (cpanel, plesk). I'm doing this because I didn't find anything on the wiki. I installed the Mysql module on Webmin (on my dedicated server). I need to create a empty database (just an user and pass) for a migration. However I have a few doubts (sorry if this looks noob-ish to ask). On MySql Database Server, I just have to setup a database name, and on Field name I set up the user, but I also need to setup password, how can I do it? Is there any other settings I need to change? Other operations? I see a "Key" check box, does that box sets up an automatic password? I would like to set up my own password. I need this because I am using duplicator to migrate my blog (wordpress) from a Plesk instalation to a Webmin one. Also just to clear my conscience, when I change my domain ips do I need to change some kind of setting on webmin? Thanks! Carlos Barros |

The reason is that currently, Webmin uses the "dig" or "nslookup" command to lookup the supplied name, which will return the target of the CNAME rather than the final IP address. If you want to check the final IP instead, you can create an "Execute Command" monitor which runs "host your.domain.com" and have it check that the output is the correct IP. |

I'm trying to set-up a DNS-lookup monitor using latest version. If I do the same thing from the CLI, using nslookup, everything checks out fine, but when I configure the "same" monitor in Webmin, it reports the monitor as being down. Is there a way to figure out why? I suspect one reason may be that a CNAME construct is used for the address I want to lookup, and instead of an IP address, the CNAME is returned and no further lookup is performed. Is there a way to change this, as Webmin wants me to enter an IP-address to expect. -joho |

Hi Dave, this is kinda of a simple setup in my opinion. Webmin already worked with heartbeat before, why would it not be something to look for if you can spare some hardware on it. Heartbeat is a very old software, but we use it on some setups today because it works. It's just that keepalived is better. Before this gets answered, I would like to throw out there (my opinion) that this isn't and shouldn't be a Webmin kind of thing. If you need this amount of redundancy, I would look elsewhere other than an Admin tool. Dave From: Filipe Cifali [mailto:cif...@gm...] Sent: Thursday, July 13, 2017 8:51 AM To: web...@li... Subject: [webmin-l] DHCP + Failover + VRRP Hi, I would like to do this kind of setup: dhcp server 1 delivers IPs and routes 192.168.0.1 to all his machines dhcp server 2 is a secondary of dhcp server 1 and only delivers IPs and route if 1 goes down. I understand that it would be needed an keepalive or something else to do VRRP, so the route IP would "float" between server 1 and 2 as needed. But I haven't found a module for it, would that be a bad setup or nobody needed this yet? The decision about doing VRRP of the route IP is because: if server 1 goes down, server 2 can get his route and the internet doesn't stop for the users. Thanks in advance. -- [ ]'s Filipe Cifali Stangler |

Hi, I would like to do this kind of setup: *dhcp server 1* delivers IPs and routes 192.168.0.1 to all his machines *dhcp server 2 *is a secondary of* dhcp server 1* and only delivers IPs and route if 1 goes down. Why such an old version of Webmin? Perl 5.8.8 is new enough to run even the latest version of Webmin. If size is a constraint, you could install the webmin-minimal build. The specific problem you have is about the Perl SSL bindings. You probably need to rebuild them. Just installing the latest version of Net::SSLeay from CPAN might work. If that doesn't work, or you don't know how to install a module from CPAN, you can turn off SSL in Webmin by editing /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf and switch ssl=1 to ssl=0 That's normally crazy dangerous, but you're already running something so old that it's already crazy dangerous and you can't possibly have it on the open internet (I hope), so that's probably no big deal. Hi, I try to run webmin 1.180 on my ReadyNas Duo. It's a (old)NAS that runs on sparc. When I run /usr/share/webmin/miniserv.pl /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf I got the following error /usr/bin/perl: relocation error: /usr/lib/perl5/auto/Net/SSLeay/SSLeay.so: undefined symbol: Perl_Gthr_key_ptr Perl version is v5.8.8 built for sparc-linux. Any idea ? Thank you, Vincent |

While this is beyond the scope of the Webmin list. Thunderbird also relies on you having the correct protocol to test the connection, ie normal password, encrypted password. I've encountered this before also. You should first use a Konsole and determine that the mail server is responding. If that works use the standard ports 25 and 587 if memory serves. If you setup the server you should also know what protocols you are using whether it's normal password or encrypted. Unless you're deliberately running a nonstandard setup, it should be listening on one or more of ports 110 (POP3), 143 (IMAP), 993 (IMAPS), and 995 (POP3S). -kgd |

I have wasted several hours on this; unable to get Thunderbird set up to connect to the mail server. I can ping the mail server so the mail server is up and running. What are the default ports that Virtualmin uses for the Dovecot IMAP/POP server? When Thunderbird does its test it comes back unable to connect. What is the standard configuration when setting up Virtualmin? |
