This should happen automatically actually - if a user links to http://whatever:10000/acl/ but has not logged in, after logging in he should be re-directed back to that URL. This won't happend for just /acl though.. - Jamie |

hi All! I am developing a theme for webmin/usermin. I am looking for a way to create a new loginscreen. Is there a way to do this by using a theme? I also looking for a way to send a parameter to my index.cgi after user login. When a user try to open a modul directly by using a url like https://adress:port/acl he will be linked to index.cgi without getting the right page. I want to solve this problem, but i need the url or directory ( like acl ) as parameter for my index.cgi. Thanks for help! If you are looking for a way to point more than one domain to the same virtual server, then this feature has already been developed. In the latest development version of Virtualmin (available at http://www.webmin.com/vdevel.html) , you can create an Alias Server for an existing server. This is just an extra domain that will forward all mail, web and DNS requests to it's target.. Check it out, and see if it already does what you were looking for .. - Jamie |

Hello, I've updated the mount module for Linux, it now supports NFSv4. I've also added the online helps, and corrected and updated the french version. Here's the patch based on webmin-1.155: http://nfsv4.bullopensource.org/patches/webmin-mount.patch If you don't have a redhat, link your -linux-lib.pl file to the redhat one, for example: ln -sf redhat-linux-lib.pl debian-linux-lib.pl If you want to test NFSv4, you must patch the kernel, nfs-utils and util-linux: http://www.citi.umich.edu/projects/nfsv4/linux/ Please don't hesitate to send me your bug reports and comments. Regards, Fred. |

I'm sorry, I won't modify the Solaris version of the mount module, I'll only release the linux version. Maybe you or somebody else will do the solaris version reading the linux code. Fred. |

Adding New Languages to Webmin 2. Using wbmtranslator 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? 4. Use a nice script for developing languages. 5. Samples 6. Special Hint ###################################################################### 1. Adding New Languages to Webmin New translations of the existing core Webmin modules are always welcome. If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps : Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people. In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=sw,titles=1,charset=iso-6666-6 Swahili The "lang" part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The "titles" part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. The optional "charset" part sets the character set that is sent to the web browser when using the language, so that is can automatically select the right font to use. Switch to your new language in the Webmin Configuration module under the Language icon. In the directory lang under the Webmin root and in each of the lang subdirectories under the module directories, create a new file called sw (or whatever the short code for your language is) that is a translation of the en file in the same directory. In each of the module.info files under the module directories, add a new desc_sw= line that is a translation of the desc= line. In each of the module directories, create a new file called config.info.sw which is a translation of config.info (if it exists). In the help subdirectory under each of the module directories (where they exist), translate all of the something.html files into something.sw.html. A table of currently translated languages is available so that you can see how much has been done for each language and module so far. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work. You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially. When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to Martin Mewes at we...@we... so that he can include it in the main Webmin distribution. The best way to tar up everything is with the command : tar czf /tmp/translation.tar.gz */lang/sw lang/sw */module.info */config.info.sw */help/*.sw.html ###################################################################### 2. Using wbmtranslator This is a module by Emmanuel Saracco which can be downloaded here: http://labs.libre-entreprise.org/projects/wbmtranslator/ It consists of an easy to use webinterface in order to update current translations or setup new languages. Last not least it enables you to officially send in translations to WTCO at tra...@we... ###################################################################### 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? Yes (by Jamie Cameron) There is a way to do this - create a lang/ subdirectory under your theme with the usual en, de and other files. Then in your theme CGIs or .pl, use code like : %mytext = &load_language("my-theme-directory"); print "<b>$mytext{'something'}</b> <p>\n"; ###################################################################### 4. Use a nice script for developing languages. Christophe Chisogne developed a script which is available in a special Download-Area at www.webmin.com. http://www.webmin.com/wtco/char2ent.pl These and other stuff can be downloaded at http://www.mewes.tv/ As example: dodiff.sh An easy interface to diff between en-files and your language file. dolinks.sh As there are many symlinks between Webmin and Usermin on Jamies Computer I wrote this little script which does a symlink-detection for you. So it could be that if you develop for a Usermin- Module you enhance a Webmin-Module as well :-) This is the output from the help: perl char2ent.pl Usage: char2ent [--mode=html|work] [-b] [-c] 8bitfile.txt ... char2ent [--help] [--version] --mode=x, -m=x choose html mode (default) or work mode --backup, -b backup of modified file --confirm, -c confirm conversion of each file If you still need other Entities ... German http://www.ramsch.org/martin/uni/fmi-hp/iso8859-1.html Unicode http://www.theorem.ca/~mvcorks/code/charsets/auto.html ###################################################################### 5. Hmm, what about a something like "rm -f"? Not kidding. I think you want to reach the point that prior to an installation of your theme, you want to completely deinstall it. So if you already know where = it is installed, why don't you just do something like sh -c "rm -f" or sh -c "rm -rf" bis dahin - kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 ###################################################################### http://www.webmin.com/ | Webbased Administration Tool for http://webmin.mamemu.de/| Unixoid Systems :-) Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 ###################################################################### |

I forgot to say I'm working on the Linux version of this module (exports.wbm) and as far as I know Solaris uses its own module, dfsadmin.wbm. But I'm also working on the Mount module (mount.wbm) which is common for all OS. I'll recontact you when I've finished. Thank you for your offer. Fred. |

Yes, that sounds like a good solution. You could have a simple script that just opens and outputs the temp file, sort of like the file/show.cgi script. - Jamie |

Yes, It is what I've finally decided, to create a new module for idmapd, to configure the file /etc/idmapd.conf and to restart the server. Fred. |

Your code would look something like : This would solve the problem of having temp space available, not to return the space as a link, the temporary space would be out of the "DocumentRoot" of webmin. I guess the only way is to implement a function that gets from the temp space and returns it, but in this way I should hanldle the header, I should know which type of file it is... My only objection was the Restart idmapd button on the Module Config page - I think it really should go in a module specified to idmapd, which could also have the ability to manage the daemon. - Jamie |

The proper way to create a valid session cookie is to add it to the DBM file /var/webmin/sessiondb. This could be done with Perl code like : $sid = "12345"; $username = "admin"; $now = time(); dbmopen(%sessiondb, "/var/webmin/sessiondb", 0700); $sessiondb{$sid} = "$username $now"; dbmclose(%sessiondb); You can now set the cookie sid=12345 in the browser, which will then be allowed access to Webmin. - Jamie |

Hi all, I would like to create my own login page for my users. The purpose is for this login page to act as a single sign-on point for all the systems that are available to them. This includes Webmin 1.080 (well, Usermin really, but I assume the authentication system is the same). I've been spending several hours now, trying to figure out the Perl scripts (Perl is not my cup of coffee), and how they manage the cookie validation. Since I'm doing this in PHP, I need my page to create a valid cookie for the user and somehow drop this in Usermin's path, so that it seems like they are alread validated. I can figure out the cookie name, path, domain and so on. I can login to Usermin, change the cookie info or delete it, check that Usermin asks for login again, restore the cookie info, and go back and see that Usermin authenticates me again. However, I need to do this in reverse order. That is, create the cookie, send it to the user, and then over to Usermin. I'd think that I have to manipulate some file on disk that stores the session information, but I have no clue as to where to look. I have looked in miniserv.pl, though, and found the part that handles the SID for correct login. I supposed I might have to intercept this part, and tell the main process about this SID myself, thus "fooling" Usermin into thinking that the user is already authenticated. Am I way off here, or could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks for a great system, Achton Netherclift -- http://achton.netherclift.net/ |

I think the current settings are OK, as there can still presumably be a button on the main menu to apply the current setting .. this would just activate all exports that have been marked as active. > - The fields: Make symbolic links relative (link_relative), Deny access to > directory (no_access), Don't trust UIDs (squash_uid) and Don't trust GIDs > (squash_gid) don't exist on Linux in NFSv3 nor in NFSv4. > Do they exist for other OS? The module is only for Linux, so you don't have to worry about other OSs. They certainly work with NFSv2 though .. Perhaps a good solution would be to detect the version of NFS in use, and hide those options if they are not supported? - Jamie |
