(Adds more functionality, as some programs that I use force another delimeter instead of the standard "=")...if no, then I will rewrite the function as I need it and source it from another lib. |

However, it would probably be relatively easy to change these functions to use getaddrinfo/getnameinfo and get IPv6 functionality (though I am not yet sure what other things might need to change in web-lip.pl to support IPv6). Maybe some rudimentary IPv6 support can be had in the next release. ---- Randy |

Special Hint ###################################################################### 1. Adding New Languages to Webmin New translations of the existing core Webmin modules are always welcome. If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps : Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people. In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=sw,titles=1,charset=iso-6666-6 Swahili The "lang" part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The "titles" part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. The optional "charset" part sets the character set that is sent to the web browser when using the language, so that is can automatically select the right font to use. Switch to your new language in the Webmin Configuration module under the Language icon. In the directory lang under the Webmin root and in each of the lang subdirectories under the module directories, create a new file called sw (or whatever the short code for your language is) that is a translation of the en file in the same directory. In each of the module.info files under the module directories, add a new desc_sw= line that is a translation of the desc= line. In each of the module directories, create a new file called config.info.sw which is a translation of config.info (if it exists). In the help subdirectory under each of the module directories (where they exist), translate all of the something.html files into something.sw.html. A table of currently translated languages is available so that you can see how much has been done for each language and module so far. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work. You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially. When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to Martin Mewes at we...@we... so that he can include it in the main Webmin distribution. Well, there is a fix for it... If you edit httpd.conf by hand and do not do a carrage return after the closing </VirtualHost> tag, Virtualmin... hmmmm.... or would the be the Apache module? Likely the Apache module, will continue on the same line opening the next <VirtualHost> tag. Apache 2.0 won't restart and Webmin complains about a missing '>' on line number XXXX. It would be better protected if a 'CR' was issued before the next entry, just in case some hand edits have been done. Also, it does divide the virtual servers a bit better. Bug?? This is an exiting front of development. In the meantime, here's how I
usually go about when installing webmin on a debian system:
1. Install package webmin (also pulls in webmin-core)
2. Set the two packages to "hold" to prevent further dpkg updates
3. Move /usr/share/webmin to /usr/share/webmin-deb
4. Create a symbolic link to match the dir used in the init.d script:
/usr/share/webmin -> /usr/share/webmin-deb
5. Go into "update webmin", pull down latest version
6. Update link from step #4 to point to the latest version:
/usr/share/webmin -> /usr/share/webmin-1.150
7. Restart miniserv (invoke-rc.d webmin restart)
Thereafter I can install/remove any modules I'like to via .wbm.
It saves me the initial setup, startscripts, plus comes with module
configs that I know would work with my current debian release
(whichever it might be).

There were three issues, none of which were too serious :
1) A logged-in Webmin user could view (but not change) the configuration of any module, even those that he wasn't granted access to. This can be fixed by inserting the following lines at line on config.cgi 9 :

2) By attempting to login with a username containing a space, an attacker could lock out valid Webmin users. This is really just a denial-of-service attack, not a remote access vulnerability. It was fixed by changing line 1056 of miniserv.pl from :

to
if ($authuser =~ /\r|\n|\s/) {
3) When reading an HTML attachment in Usermin's Read Mail module, malicious links or image references in the HTML could be used to trigger the exection of commands in Usermin. For example, a link like :
<a href=../proc/run.cgi?cmd=rm+*>click me</a>
The patch for this one is a bit too complex to include in this email - I would recommend upgrading the entire Read Mail module instead.
