Aside from hacking my borrowed theme, is there a way to control the order Modules are listed in aside from the Display Name. It appears to me that the Display Name is what they are sorted on in every Theme I've used, and I would prefer they be sorted on some other item, such as the actual Module Name, so that I can control what order they appear in in the same fashion I do my Categories. Hi all, after SourceForge triggered another CVS-removal I am now finished with uploading. Please _remove_ your local repositories completely and do a brandnew checkout. Instructions can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=3D17457 These are the modulenames mentioned on that page. This is what we have: Webmin -> Latest Stable Version Last Development Version Usermin -> Latest Stable Version Last Development Version Virtualmin -> Latest Stable Version =46rom this point on everything should go smoothly. If you are really interested in ancient stuff, please visit: http://webmin.mamemu.de/devel.html -> Webmin/Usermin http://webmin.mamemu.de/vdevel.html -> Virtualmin Thanks for your patience :-) bis dahin - kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 ###################################################################### http://www.webmin.com/ | Webbased Administration Tool for http://webmin.mamemu.de/| Unixoid Systems :-) Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 ###################################################################### |

Hi all, today we had a lot of trouble with the CVS-Server at SourceForge. I wrongly submitted Usermin stuff to the Virtualmin-Tree and asked for a removal of the Virtualmin-Tree. While on this I thought it would be a = good idea to request a complete removal of anything. Reason was, that I could safely built up a new structure with all ancients versions of Webmin/Usermin/Virtual. Then the fun began ;-) I wrote a little script which should upload the contents I have back to = the SF-cvs, but unfortunately the cvs-disk space is too low for _all_ = versions. So I had to do it again ... Read for yourself. http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=3Ddetail&aid=3D1042399&group_id=3D1&= atid=3D200001 I hope everything is back until tomorrow. I'll keep you informed. bis dahin - kind regards Martin Mewes --=20 ###################################################################### http://www.webmin.com/ | Webbased Administration Tool for http://webmin.mamemu.de/| Unixoid Systems :-) Official Webmin/Usermin Translation Co-Ordinator 2003/2004 ###################################################################### |

Adding New Languages to Webmin 2. Using wbmtranslator 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? 4. Use a nice script for developing languages. 5. Samples 6. Special Hint ###################################################################### 1. Adding New Languages to Webmin New translations of the existing core Webmin modules are always welcome. If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps : Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people. In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=sw,titles=1,charset=iso-6666-6 Swahili The "lang" part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The "titles" part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. The optional "charset" part sets the character set that is sent to the web browser when using the language, so that is can automatically select the right font to use. Switch to your new language in the Webmin Configuration module under the Language icon. In the directory lang under the Webmin root and in each of the lang subdirectories under the module directories, create a new file called sw (or whatever the short code for your language is) that is a translation of the en file in the same directory. In each of the module.info files under the module directories, add a new desc_sw= line that is a translation of the desc= line. In each of the module directories, create a new file called config.info.sw which is a translation of config.info (if it exists). In the help subdirectory under each of the module directories (where they exist), translate all of the something.html files into something.sw.html. A table of currently translated languages is available so that you can see how much has been done for each language and module so far. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work. You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially. When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to Martin Mewes at we...@we... so that he can include it in the main Webmin distribution. The best way to tar up everything is with the command : tar czf /tmp/translation.tar.gz */lang/sw lang/sw */module.info */config.info.sw */help/*.sw.html ###################################################################### 2. Using wbmtranslator This is a module by Emmanuel Saracco which can be downloaded here: http://labs.libre-entreprise.org/projects/wbmtranslator/ It consists of an easy to use webinterface in order to update current translations or setup new languages. Last not least it enables you to officially send in translations to WTCO at tra...@we... ###################################################################### 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? Yes (by Jamie Cameron) There is a way to do this - create a lang/ subdirectory under your theme with the usual en, de and other files. Then in your theme CGIs or .pl, use code like : %mytext = &load_language("my-theme-directory"); print "<b>$mytext{'something'}</b> <p>\n"; ###################################################################### 4. Use a nice script for developing languages. Christophe Chisogne developed a script which is available in a special Download-Area at www.webmin.com. http://www.webmin.com/wtco/char2ent.pl These and other stuff can be downloaded at http://www.mewes.tv/ As example: dodiff.sh An easy interface to diff between en-files and your language file. dolinks.sh As there are many symlinks between Webmin and Usermin on Jamies Computer I wrote this little script which does a symlink-detection for you. So it could be that if you develop for a Usermin- Module you enhance a Webmin-Module as well :-) This is the output from the help: perl char2ent.pl Usage: char2ent [--mode=html|work] [-b] [-c] 8bitfile.txt ... char2ent [--help] [--version] --mode=x, -m=x choose html mode (default) or work mode --backup, -b backup of modified file --confirm, -c confirm conversion of each file If you still need other Entities ... There doesn;t seem to be a lot of traffic on this list... Anyway, if anyone is interested, I hacked some access control into the Shorewall module from 1.160. Nothing fancy, just an "Edit Rules? You don't need to run a firewall in the sense of actually blocking traffic, just set up the Linux Firewall module as it prompts when you login for the first time. The Bandwidth module can then add special rules to log all traffic, when then use those logs to generate reports. - Jamie On Thu, 2004-09-23 at 10:44, Dave Van Abel wrote: > No firewall on the server > > On Wed, 2004-09-22 at 17:18, Jamie Cameron wrote: > > On Wed, 2004-09-22 at 22:34, Martin Mewes wrote: > > > Hi all, > > > > > > the new bandwith module does not seem to run under Debian 3 somehow. > > > Is it only ment for DialUp-Computers or can it be used for Fixed-IP-Servers > > > as webmin.mamemu.de as well? > > > > > > If I click on the configuration button to setup the firewall rules etc > > > nothing happens and no entries can bee seen in the firewall module. > > > > The module should work on any system, regardless of whether the IP is > > fixed or not. Hi i'm using the latest supported versions of Webmin + Usermin + Virtualmin i host & run the websites for my customers - so they don't need to know anything about computers - let alone servers Virtualmin is set to give /dev/null shell access to mail + FTP + domain users If i try to remove FTP access from any mailbox user via Virtualmin https://IP-Number:10000/virtual-server/edit_user.cgi?dom=123456&user=domain.tld.username - it just will not accept the changes i.e. FTP login enabled? will not change to NO is there a way for Virtualmin to set-up a domain with the minumum of facilities e.g. NOT to give FTP access to anybody unless its the domain owner also it would be nice to be able to set-up domains without giving them a Webmin login i know i can choose to deselect it when setting up a domain https://IP-Number:10000/virtual-server/domain_form.cgi? Create Webmin login? = NO (but i keep forgeting sometimes to switch it from yes) so it would be better if the Virtualmin Config https://IP-Number:10000/config.cgi?virtual-server had the option to set Webmin login to "Yes, but not by default" just like for MySQL, Apache etc Regards Martyn _________________________________________________________________ It's fast, it's easy and it's free.
