I'm trying to get curl (from inside php) to login to webmin. Instead I always get the "No cookies" error. I'm using a cookiejar and everything= . Has anybody done anything like this before? Most likly this is a curl problem, but I have a feeling it might be a problem with miniserv.pl=20 Thanks!!! -ben ----- There's no place like 127.0.0.1 http://www.genplan.com |

Yep, another person w/like issue here. Simply have forgotten all this in sendmail over the years. I tried to follow the below example, and add a new feature to the Sendmail M4 Configuration, but it did not work. Can someone who as done this, please put in the exact line added from: Sendmail M4 Configuration -> Add new entyr of type -> select Feature Next add parameter: `genericstable', `hash -o /etc/mail/genericstable.db' When saved it looked like this: FEATURE(`domaintable',``genericstable', `hash -o /etc/mail/genericstable.db'') And it did not work. Any help appreciated. i'm running a few domains on 1 x RedHat ES 3 server on a single IP-Number and using Virtualmin to set them up with the domain.username style i'm also running MailScanner to control SendMail Virtualmin controls the genericstable automatically when setting up a domain we've installed the Vacation module for Usermin but can't get it to work properly if i go to Usermin https://customers-domain.tld:20000/vacation/ it will create an entry in the .forward file (https://customers-domain.tld:20000/forward/edit_forward.cgi) like this >>> \customers-domain.tld.user.name "|/usr/bin/vacation customers-domain.tld.user.name" <<< but this will not send out an Out-Of-Office / Vacation message to anybody that sends an e-mail to use...@cu...d but if i manually add -a aliasname - it will work properly e.g. Program /usr/bin/vacation customers-domain.tld.user.name -a user.name this is a real pain as i don't want my customers to have to manually edit any files + whenever Vacation is re-set they will have to include the -a aliasname again as the .forward file is wiped also the Vacation replies are sent out with this format of reply address cus...@my...d has anybody got any suggestions as to what i might have done wrong Regards Martyn _________________________________________________________________ Want to block unwanted pop-ups? i finally got around to altering the M4 file to add this line to try and get the generics table to work FEATURE(`genericstable', `hash -o /etc/mail/genericstable.db')dnl now Virtualmin adds a new record to the https://IP-Number:10000/sendmail/list_generics.cgi file and e-mails that are sent from squirrelmail appear to come From: use...@cu...d which is just what i wanted however, there is this note at the bottom of the Webmin genericstable page >>>you must have an entry in the outgoing domains table for each domain >>>which there are addresses you want outgoing mapping done for<<< but Virtualmin doesn't add any entries to https://IP-Number:10000/sendmail/list_cgs.cgi and i'm not sure what format any entries should be in do i need to manually edit this file or is it something Virtuamin will do if its needed later Regards Martyn----- Original Message ----- From: "last first" <xx_...@ms...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Tuesday, September 07, 2004 10:29 PM Subject: [webmin-devel] Re: [webmin-l] Generics Table / Wild Card? >Hi - i have a similar problem to Simon's with outgoing e-Mails > >i have lots of domains set-up using Virtualmin v2.10 on a RHEL ES3 server > >with these Virtualmin settings: >Include domain name in usernames = always >Format for usernames that include domain = domain.username >Also update outgoing addresses for mailboxes = NO > > >this appears to be fine for incoming e-mails where >use...@do...d all arrive in the domain.tld.user.name mailbox >there is also no problem with aliases being forwarded into the correct >mailbox > >however if i try to send an e-mail from within SendMail or SquirrelMail >the outgoing e-mail appears to be sent from >dom...@ns...d instead of use...@do...d > >but if i log into each users SquirrelMail account and change their Options >- Personal Information >to use their correct use...@do...d e-Mail address it works OK > >the Usermin Vacation module also sets up the outgoing replies from >dom...@ns...d >(plus i have to manually edit the .forward file to add -a aliasname to get >it to work) > >i am using SendMail with Virtualmin and i also have MailScanner(.info) >set-up & working correctly > > >So i thought maybe i'd try to change Virtualmin so that >Also update outgoing addresses for mailboxes = YES > >but i then got an error message when retesting the Virtualmin settings >which said that i need to set-up >https://IP-Number:10000/sendmail/list_generics.cgi >which also says "Your sendmail configuration does not have the outgoing >address mapping (generics) feature enabled. i think we are using scpOnly to get round this same problem (http://www.scponly.com/) then when domains are set-up in Virtualmin the shell permissions are all set to /dev/null for ftp + mail + domain this lets them get FTP access to upload website files & stops them seeing anything outside their own directory i might have got it wrong as none of the users can SSH into the server - but as i don't want them to anyway its fine by me (i'll look closely at the scpOnly options after i've got more time) Regards Martyn ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mike R" <spy...@sp...> To: <web...@li...> Sent: Thursday, September 16, 2004 4:27 PM Subject: [webmin-l] User Permissions Problem > >I am using virtualmin on Redhat 9. > >I noticed that all of the users created with virtualmin, when ftping, can >leave their own 'home' directory and look into other directories (and can >even download files) - including the etc directory as well as the logs >directories of other users. > >The users can't actually change the files, but they have permission to view >them. I'm reading in a file using: my $file = read_file_lines($config {"sc_serv_conf"}); $config {"sc_serv_conf"} points to a text file. $file reports 323 lines. So far so good. Line 142 in the file I've read in is: ; AdminPassword=adminpass However when I print line 142 of $file using: print $file->[142]; print "
\n"; All I get is: 142 ;AdminPassword= The text after the '=' is truncated (or so it appears). Anyone have any suggestions as to what happened to the remainder of the line? David Filion |

Dear all at WebAdmin, I am conducting a survey on open source software. This is for my academic coursework and dissertation. It will be great to have your participation in this survey. This survey has two separate questionnaires: 1) focusing on the OSS development (Developers or those who contribute in coding or documentation), and 2) focusing on the IT/IS costs (CIOs or IT Managers). You are free to go for the questionnaire that is appropriate for you. Below are the links: 1) Brief introduction page: http://web.singnet.com.sg/~mikecck/opensource/Introduction1.htm 2) Questionnaire 1(Open Source Development): http://web.singnet.com.sg/~mikecck/opensource/WebFormA1.htm 3) Questionnaire 2(Open Source and IT/IS Cost): http://web.singnet.com.sg/~mikecck/opensource/WebFormB1.htm Thank you for your time. Or is this a bug? Thanks for pointing this out - it's a bug in the 2.22 version, which is fixed in version 2.23 that I have just put up on the development page. - Jamie |

Hi - i have a similar problem to Simon's with outgoing e-Mails i have lots of domains set-up using Virtualmin v2.10 on a RHEL ES3 server with these Virtualmin settings: Include domain name in usernames = always Format for usernames that include domain = domain.username Also update outgoing addresses for mailboxes = NO this appears to be fine for incoming e-mails where use...@do...d all arrive in the domain.tld.user.name mailbox there is also no problem with aliases being forwarded into the correct mailbox however if i try to send an e-mail from within SendMail or SquirrelMail the outgoing e-mail appears to be sent from dom...@ns...d instead of use...@do...d but if i log into each users SquirrelMail account and change their Options - Personal Information to use their correct use...@do...d e-Mail address it works OK the Usermin Vacation module also sets up the outgoing replies from dom...@ns...d (plus i have to manually edit the .forward file to add -a aliasname to get it to work) i am using SendMail with Virtualmin and i also have MailScanner(.info) set-up & working correctly So i thought maybe i'd try to change Virtualmin so that Also update outgoing addresses for mailboxes = YES but i then got an error message when retesting the Virtualmin settings which said that i need to set-up https://IP-Number:10000/sendmail/list_generics.cgi which also says "Your sendmail configuration does not have the outgoing address mapping (generics) feature enabled. Click here to setup sendmail features" and then points me to the Sendmail M4 Configuration page https://IP-Number:10000/sendmail/list_features.cgi and now i hit a brick wall with my lack of Linux experience (Webmin & Virtualmin normally make life so easy) i don't know what to edit in there to make the genericstable file work i was hoping somebody could tell me the required settings to change / add to the M4 set-up looking at http://www.sendmail.org/m4/features.html#genericstable i'd guess that i should add a line saying FEATURE(`genericstable',`hash -o /etc/mail/genericstable')dnl but where i put it and what i do if it gets screwed up are a mystery to me any help gratefully appreciated Regards Martyn >>> I am sure someone has an answer or solution, but I have been unable to find it online. As I host multiple domains, I have multiple emails addresses, and I use Virtualmin to add multiple domains. What my problem is that all email addresses from a particular domain are 'user.domain' and other domains for example are 'user.domain2.' However, when the user goes into Usermin and click on compose mail, the from field has 'user.domain@computername' or ip address. I am seeing up the generics table and that solves the problem, but I was wondering if you could use wild cards to that instead of having a different line for every user email, I could do something like this. *.domain *@domain.com *.domain2 *@domain2.com So that every user with a user id that ends in .domain has the email address changed to the domain name instead of the computer address. Any suggestions on possible wild cards or other ways to solve this problem would greatly be appreciated. Best regards, Virtualmin has an option on the Module Config page to maintain the genericstable file for users, and you can configure Usermin's Read Mail module to get a mapping of usernames to addresses from that same genericstable. That is probably the easiest solution .. - Jamie <<< _________________________________________________________________ It's fast, it's easy and it's free. Running Fedora Core 2 with all updates applied, Virtualmin 2.10 (The current release version) would fail to create a domain. I downloaded the current development version (2.22) and it does create domains, but with the wrong permissions. All domains get root.root for their permissions and the user accounts can logon, but not upload and files into the directories. If I do a chown -Rf newuser.newuser \home\newuser I can access the directory correctly. Did I miss something in the setup that would let me assign correct directory permissions? Or is this a bug? Hi, I need to write a webmin module that automatically refreshes the display every x seconds. Before I try to hack something together using javascript, I thought it was a good idea to ask people on this list if (1) webmin supports this scenario, and (2) if perhaps other people already have written such a module and are willing to share their experiences. I got the same message when attempting to fetch the prerequisite modules for "AI::Categorizer". When I downloaded the modules independent of this module they all downloaded and installed without error. Indeed perhaps there is a problem with "WebService::CIA" and I may have been too quick in assuming they are the same problem. Perhaps my server is running low on disk space when I try to do a huge installation. I am not sure right now. I had a look at that Perl module, and it seems to be missing the Makefile.PL script used by all Perl modules to compile. So either my understanding of Perl packaging is incorrect, or Webmin really is correct to say that it is invalid .. - Jamie On Thu, 2004-09-02 at 18:32, Andrew Kornak wrote: > It happened to me again, only this time with a single module and no > dependencies... > > >From CPAN, named: WebService::CIA > > Downloading > http://www.cpan.org/authors/id/I/IM/IMALPASS/WebService-CIA-0.01.tar.gz (9390 bytes) .. > Received 1024 bytes (10 %) > Received 2048 bytes (21 %) > Received 3072 bytes (32 %) > Received 4096 bytes (43 %) > Received 5120 bytes (54 %) > Received 6144 bytes (65 %) > Received 7168 bytes (76 %) > Received 8192 bytes (87 %) > Received 9216 bytes (98 %) > Received 9390 bytes (100 %) > .. I recently had a problem with the "Perl Module" Webmin module. When attempting to install the AI::Categorizer perl module there are quite a few prerequisite modules that are displayed. I attempted to use the "Fetch Missing Pre-Requisites" feature and it downloads all the necessary modules but fails at the end with an error message of "unknown or missing module". I don't remember the exact error message since I ended up installing several of the prerequisite modules manually until the "fetch" feature was able to install perquisites and the main module without error. Perhaps there is a limit as to how many prerequisites one may install at one time before it craps out? Perhaps the main module is deleted after a certain time limit? I don't know. In any case, I love this new feature. I only recently discovered it and it's cool. It really speeds things up when you need to install dependencies. Thanks. -Andrew Jamie Cameron wrote: >Hi Webmin developers and translators, > >Webmin 1.160 will be coming out soon, so I have created a 1.159 >development pre-release for interested people to test before the >official 1.160 version comes out. Hi Webmin developers and translators, Webmin 1.160 will be coming out soon, so I have created a 1.159 development pre-release for interested people to test before the official 1.160 version comes out. Translators should also take a look at this version to find any new strings that need conversion. You can get the 1.159 version from : http://www.webmin.com/devel/tarballs/webmin-1.159.tar.gz or http://www.webmin.com/devel/rpm/webmin-1.159-1.noarch.rpm The biggest new features in this version are the addition of the Sarg module, removal of all
lines from headers and footers, translation updates for French, Chinese and a few other languages, NFSv4 support in the mount module, and support for MD5 encryption for Webmin passwords. A full change log is available at : http://www.webmin.com/changes-1.159.html Usermin 1.090 will also be available soon, and so I have created a corresponding 1.089 pre-release for testing and translation. You can get it from : http://www.webmin.com/devel/tarballs/usermin-1.089.tar.gz or http://www.webmin.com/devel/rpm/usermin-1.089-1.noarch.rpm A full change log for this release is available at : http://www.webmin.com/uchanges-1.089.html - Jamie |

Adding New Languages to Webmin 2. Using wbmtranslator 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? 4. Use a nice script for developing languages. 5. Samples 6. Special Hint ###################################################################### 1. Adding New Languages to Webmin New translations of the existing core Webmin modules are always welcome. If you want to translate Webmin into a new language or update one of the existing translations, follow these steps : Get the latest development version of Webmin so that you can see the latest translations that have been done by other people. In the file lang_list.txt in the Webmin root directory, add a new line for your language like : lang=sw,titles=1,charset=iso-6666-6 Swahili The "lang" part defines the short code for the language, and should follow the ISO standard where possible. The "titles" part controls whether Webmin should use letter images for displaying page titles in the language, and should be set to 1 if your language uses european characters. The optional "charset" part sets the character set that is sent to the web browser when using the language, so that is can automatically select the right font to use. Switch to your new language in the Webmin Configuration module under the Language icon. In the directory lang under the Webmin root and in each of the lang subdirectories under the module directories, create a new file called sw (or whatever the short code for your language is) that is a translation of the en file in the same directory. In each of the module.info files under the module directories, add a new desc_sw= line that is a translation of the desc= line. In each of the module directories, create a new file called config.info.sw which is a translation of config.info (if it exists). In the help subdirectory under each of the module directories (where they exist), translate all of the something.html files into something.sw.html. A table of currently translated languages is available so that you can see how much has been done for each language and module so far. There is also a list of other translators that you might want to contact before doing your own translation work. You don't have to finish translating the entire of Webmin for your translation to be useful. Many people just do a few modules at a time, or skip the help pages initially. When your translation has made some progress, send a .tar.gz file of all the translated files to Martin Mewes at we...@we... so that he can include it in the main Webmin distribution. The best way to tar up everything is with the command : tar czf /tmp/translation.tar.gz */lang/sw lang/sw */module.info */config.info.sw */help/*.sw.html ###################################################################### 2. Using wbmtranslator This is a module by Emmanuel Saracco which can be downloaded here: http://labs.libre-entreprise.org/projects/wbmtranslator/ It consists of an easy to use webinterface in order to update current translations or setup new languages. Last not least it enables you to officially send in translations to WTCO at tra...@we... ###################################################################### 3. Is there a way to use localization when developing a new theme? Yes (by Jamie Cameron) There is a way to do this - create a lang/ subdirectory under your theme with the usual en, de and other files. Then in your theme CGIs or .pl, use code like : %mytext = &load_language("my-theme-directory"); print "$mytext{'something'}
\n"; ###################################################################### 4. Use a nice script for developing languages. Christophe Chisogne developed a script which is available in a special Download-Area at www.webmin.com. http://www.webmin.com/wtco/char2ent.pl These and other stuff can be downloaded at http://www.mewes.tv/ As example: dodiff.sh An easy interface to diff between en-files and your language file. dolinks.sh As there are many symlinks between Webmin and Usermin on Jamies Computer I wrote this little script which does a symlink-detection for you. So it could be that if you develop for a Usermin- Module you enhance a Webmin-Module as well :-) This is the output from the help: perl char2ent.pl Usage: char2ent [--mode=html|work] [-b] [-c] 8bitfile.txt ... char2ent [--help] [--version] --mode=x, -m=x choose html mode (default) or work mode --backup, -b backup of modified file --confirm, -c confirm conversion of each file If you still need other Entities ... German http://www.ramsch.org/martin/uni/fmi-hp/iso8859-1.html Unicode http://www.theorem.ca/~mvcorks/code/charsets/auto.html ###################################################################### 5.
