Hi Abel, I'm too pragmatic to believe it's all about which hammer you use, and I'm glad you included a video to present the opposing perspective. ;-) The truth for most people is somewhere in the middle. I like the immense power git is capable of, but it's like a fast car. Do I need it? Probably not. Can it get me into trouble? Absolutely! I setup my last project on sourceforge instead of on github so we could use subversion, because my partner (who is also vastly more skilled than me) didn't know git, and didn't want to learn. So I learned to use Subversion, and I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. However, I'm not rebasing code so it looks like we got it perfect the first time, we never edit files at the same time, we're not leap-frogging releases in parallel teams, we're not developing in multiple feature branches that all need to be merged, and I'm not maintaining major and minor release branches, as well as a long-term-support branch. Life is pretty simple compared to e.g. the Linux kernel, Drupal or Samba. For our use, Subversion is not only just as "good" as Git, but using it has put the project further ahead than it would be if I had insisted on Git. The only thing I really miss is having a local repository, but my partner uses TortoiseSVN with a local repo for his daily development, and checks in a copy to Sourceforge when he's ready. It works for him. Cheers, Dale > On Mar 30, 2017, at 9:31 PM, "ab...@ab..." <ab...@ab...> wrote: > > Hi all, > > I am just going to think outloud here and do not take any of this as RULE or me trying to impose anything. I don't understand why you linked to Django, do you mean you would like something similar for WebERP? I also like GitHub, and it took Sourceforge (and Subversion) a while to catch up. Hello Gilbert, I fully agree with you regarding the importance of a software project using a bug tracker. I should have been more clear in my question, which was "why should I use the github.com/stateless/weberp-cvs repo Issue tracker?", instead of the many other weberp repos with issue trackers, or instead of emailing the distribution list or posting to the forum. My confidence the weberp-cvs issue tracker was the "right" issue tracker did not improve when I saw there were no issues already entered, there was no information on the purpose or intent of the repo, and the most recent commit in the repo appeared to have been in 2009. Before spending effort to enter a bug report in the stateless/weberp-csv repo, I would like to be confident that my effort will benefit the project (and ultimately me, by fixing a bug I presumably care about having fixed). I would prefer the project use the Sourceforge Ticket tracker for project clarity, but otherwise at least give clear indication on the project website what is the "official" issue tracker. IMHO, I think this type of clarity may be necessary before there will be significant update within the community to use a bug tracker. My apologies to the OP for hijacking their thread, we should create a new thread if you want to discuss further. To the OP, I suggest you first describe what problem you are having with the current petty cash workflow, and also, if you have thought it out, give an outline of a workflow that you believe would solve your problem. I am not a developer, but a better description will aid developers to spend their time more effectively. It is not clear from your email (at least to me) whether you think you've found a bug in the petty cash code, or if you want to make the existing petty cash code "better". Cheers! Hi, I suggest to post the requirements. I agree: Someone might have worked on it, or may be working on it, or could work on it. Personally, I have not worked with petty cash module. Is this the de facto official bug tracker? I seem to recall Phil saying on the list (or maybe in the forum?) that the project didn't have a bug tracker. Please elaborate why here. The webERP_4.13.1.zip archive downloaded from Sourceforge is missing a number of xml files from the companies/weberp/FormDesigns directory. This prevented at least the correct generation of work order PDF "Paperwork" and "Labels" files. root@whizzer:/usr/local/www/weberp-4.13.1 # ll companies/weberp/FormDesigns total 32 -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 5264 Feb 21 13:26 GoodsReceived.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 3901 Feb 21 13:26 Journal.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 8903 Feb 21 13:26 PickingList.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 7650 Feb 21 13:26 PurchaseOrder.xml root@whizzer:/usr/local/www/weberp-4.13.1 # ll companies/weberpdemo/FormDesigns total 48 -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 1702 Mar 21 15:42 FGLabel.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 5264 Mar 21 15:42 GoodsReceived.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 3901 Mar 21 15:42 Journal.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 8903 Mar 21 15:42 PickingList.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 7650 Mar 21 15:42 PurchaseOrder.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 1204 Mar 21 15:42 QALabel.xml -rw-r--r-- 1 www www 7967 Mar 21 15:42 WOPaperwork.xml I diff'd the files in common and they were identical. Then I copied over the files missing in weberp/ from weberpdemo/ and correct work order PDFs appear to be generated. Thanks to Tim Schofield for his help figuring this out. How is the zip release file created? I checked the trunk branch on Sourceforge and did not see a companies/weberp directory . For what it's worth, I would have taken the effort to enter this into a project bug tracker (even if in hindsight it turns out to be my fault and not a bug at all). I read archived mail threads proposing a project bug tracker, and understand the rationale that a quick email from a user and equally quick fix from a developer is less work than what a bug tracker will impose (e.g. enter bug, fix code, commit code, link bug to commit, close bug). However, not having a bug tracker also means there is no common or public place to store issues for fixing later (e.g. when the fix isn't quick, or isn't a high priority), and searching through mail archives for old bug reports, and then figuring if a report has already been fixed or not, becomes much more work and much less reliable than a bug tracker would have been. I've experimented using the Sourceforge Tickers system on one of my own projects and although not perfect, it seems convenient and good enough for the basics. Bug reports could still be welcomed from casual community members through email or forum posts, but active members could take it upon themselves to create a ticket when they felt it was justified. A side benefit to a bug tracker is the confidence it gives to the general community, showing bugs are treated seriously, reports are triaged, and resolved appropriately. There may be arguments about _how_ a bug was triaged or resolved (in particular, the ones classified as "won't fix"), but the visibility means that a bug report can't be overlooked or forgotten. The work order was created for a manufactured item, three child parts are listed in the manufacturing BOM. I noticed I didn't set the sequence numbers in the BOM, all child parts have sequence number 0 (zero). Could this be the cause? Hi all, I haven't had any replies my post last week to the users list, so I'm hoping someone here will enjoy pointing out the error of my ways. ;-) I'm get "empty" work order "Paperwork" and "Labels" PDFs with only the company logo on each page. I expect the answer will be suitably and annoyingly obvious in hindsight, but until I get this sorted I can't really give a manufacturing demo. I would also very much appreciate it if someone could describe in general the manual process this was intended to fit, and how the "Paperwork" and "Labels" would be used. Many thanks! Dale P.S. hi. imho cheque number must have constrain unique, and there lot of banks that field is string, not only numbers. others banks assign number sequence by 1 for every bank account so this check number is bankcode, bank-agency, bank-account, bank-seqnum (6 digits). cheque no/voucher we use like a bordero number, for 1 bordero number we control n payments with cheque or voucher number (used like small antecipated payments (travels, office materiais, petit caixa with limited cash limits). -- gilberto dos santos alves +55(11)9-8646-5049 sao paulo - sp - brasil 2017-02-22 7:49 GMT-03:00 ExsonQu <hex...@gm...>: > *Dear all,* > I'm improving the cheque no part for payment. > Currently, the cheque no is only available for GL account which > as receipt bank accounts. *Dear all,* I'm improving the cheque no part for payment. Currently, the cheque no is only available for GL account which as receipt bank accounts. The cheque No for the bank payment account is not recorded and only for cheque print purpose. I'd like to record the cheque no to banktrans table. But I have no idea why we has a input of cheque No/Voucher No on the GL payed bank accounts and recorded. Is there any scenario for this designed I'm missing? And there is a cheque for duplication of cheque no. In Hong Kong, the cheque no are only 6 digits, there are big chances for cheque no duplication. Shall we remove this constraint? We have found problems with the display of text in description fields in: PDFCustOrderConfPortrait.php PrintCustTransPortrait.php The fields are spacing out the length of the field creating strange white space between words. The following changes had to be made: PrintCustTransPortrait.php: line 368 add ,'left' before ) $LeftOvers = $pdf->addTextWrap($Left_Margin+80,$YPos,186,$FontSize,$myrow2['description'],'left'); line 372 add ,'left' before ) $LeftOvers = $pdf->addTextWrap($Left_Margin+80,$YPos-(10*$lines),186,$FontSize,$LeftOvers,'left'); PDFCustOrderConfPortrait.php: line 132 add ,'left' before ) line 133 add ,'left' before ) $LeftOvers = $pdf->addTextWrap($XPos+1,$YPos,100,$FontSize,$myrow2['stkcode'],'left'); $LeftOvers = $pdf->addTextWrap(145,$YPos,295,$FontSize,$myrow2['description'],'left'); There are probably more places where such needs to be added. Is the default to space out text? One would expect the default to be language specific, i.e. left justify for English, Romance, and most European languages, and right justify for Hebrew, etc. Is there a default justification that is not being properly set? We have seen this problem in the last few releases of weberp. Hi, I am back, Thanks Tim for the remark. The use of colon (the ":" character) at the end of a "compound text" could generate problems. This problem is due of the proper punctuation use in other languages (e.g. in French, it is rqthe use of a non-breaking space before the colon). I was reducing the *.PO files (and consequently the *.MO files). To do this, I use the most common for similar texts. In our software is more frequent the use of a text without colon than with colon (e.g. "title" vs. "title:"). To respect the current appearance, I maintained the use of colon. The next step is to standardise the use of texts inside the code. In general, it is recommended to use a single text instead of a compound text (e.g. "GL account" vs "GL"." "."account") to avoid problems in traslation.
