Hi Alvaro, I am sure that a Spanish version would go down really well! Sherif Omar has expressed a willingness to make the system multi language capable, I am only concerned that the readability of the system will be compromised by changing all the text in echo statements and print statements to less understandable (to developers in any language) variable names. This may be a necessary compromise to make the system available to users in any language. Once Sherif, who I think works for an Egyptian software company has donated his work back to the community, this will allow a seperate include file to contain all the translated text, modifications to the underlying scripts will then not require additional translation as they will refer to the variables in the include file. Translating the system script by script would effectively make a seperate system where improvements in one language's version would not be readily transferable to another language without a re-write of the whole script in the other languages. One thought that could retain script readabliity, is to make a file that maps the strings in English as they are to the language to be changed to, creation of the language version could then be automatically created by running the files through a string substitution script that takes the file name as an argument and the name of the string substitution file ie the file that maps the english string to the language string. The output would be a language version of the script. This would make the scripts much more readable to developers (in the language of chocie) looking at the resulting scripts. Using this approach new language versions could be produced automatically provided the text of the english version strings is not changed ;-) or the language string maps all changed at the same time. It would also allow conversion back from the language version to the english version. I could write the string substiution script but would need serious help with the englsih string extraction from every script and the translated strings :-( Users of the same system could work in different languages by pointing the language versions at the same database from the config.php file - and the web server URL for the alternate languages being different. Comments always appreciated - Sherif ? Serial number tracking would be good but I have not given this much thought yet. Guys, If we are all working on it at the same time it will be a nightmare to integrate changes :-( I have done a whole lot of work on the system during this implementation that should see a good lift in usability accross the board with a number of bug fixes some minor but one or two nasties. I am away from my development machine at the moment but will upload as soon as I can about two weeks. In the meantime, if you can hold fire with any mods for a couple of weeks - except perhaps the move to php-pdf class scripts, if you are keen. I've done Invoices/Statements and Picking Slips/Dispatch notes on pre-printed stationery ie not Sherif's more generic laser one. I know Sherif's at the beach this week so that's good timing! Phil |

Oh, that's just fine !!! Spare a thought for us at +4 degrees C last night :-( I'm off for a fortnight installing the system in Brisbane from tomorrow. Will be picking up email as usual, but away from my development machine - not sure when I will be able to get these mods in - I will be working fevourishly on any bug fixes or mods as necessary to make it work for the company. I like to know the code being changed so probably make a bit of a meal of the merges. Hi Chris, I but it in the distribution last time so if u download 0.1.10 it has the files: class.pdf.php PDFStarter_ros.inc - converted PDF starter PrintCustTrans_ros.php - converted Invoice/Credit Notes PDF_TransPageHeader_ros.inc - converted Invoice/Credit Notes page set up. and a seperate directory under it for the fonts. I included all the font files till we decide which ones we need. I've done statements too now, but have 2 others left to go. I have the fix for th login script in header.inc (and PDFStarter.inc) sorted out too. Need to check that the variable is set first before using it ... duh :-( I was playing aroung with PDFStarter_ros.inc and set the $_SESSION["PageSize"]="A4_Landscape"; in there - this has to come out to make it generic -but was required to get my earlier version of PrintCustTrans_ros.php going at the time. Phil, Is there a way we can get a copy of the edited PDFStarter.inc with the R&OS Mods so we can test out the assigned pages in the previous emails. I have 3 of the 4 pages done, but have yet to test them. Thanks Chris |

Chris, The stock could have gone negative from transfers adjustments sales invoices neg receipt of stock vs PO maybe rather than changing all these more interesting scripts adding complexity, the cooler way might be to create a pdf of the negative stocks and if there is anything to report ie the pdf is longer than say 40 then email the report to the appropriate person. I am not sure how one goes about scheduling such things in windows but wget and unix cron scheduling works well see MailInventoryValuation.php Phil |

sorry scratch that. If you put the line below it gives you full access to the system. I noticed that if you click enter at the login screen, without entering a login name or password, it will let you into the system, however you receive the following error: Warning: in_array() [function.in-array]: Wrong datatype for second argument in /var/www/htdocs/web-erp/header.inc on line 76 If you click logout, to try and log back in it will not allow you destroy the session because of the above error. If you replace line 76: if (! in_array($PageSecurity,$SecurityGroups[$_SESSION["AccessLevel"]]) OR !isset($PageSecurity)){ with: if (! array($PageSecurity,$SecurityGroups[$_SESSION["AccessLevel"]]) OR !isset($PageSecurity)){ it clears the message up and the other functions work fine. Is this a bug or do I have my setup incorrect. Chris Bice IT Manager SRC Diversified 417-860-0069 |

Right now the company i work with uses a different ERP system, but will be moving to web-erp in the near future. Our Materials manager asked me about notifications with in the system, particularly when we have a negative On-Hand Quantity amount, be it because of a mistake or too high of a demand from the sales orders. I was wondering if there is currently a way to email the materials manager when a stock item hits below the 0 mark. If not I was going to start today to implement such an item. Let me know what you think. Thanks Chris Bice IT Manager SRC Diversified 417-860-0069 |

RE: ConfirmDispatch_Invoice.php - I tried it as you said and see the problem ... sorry I didn't understand the snag - will put the fix in the next release we seem to be averaging one a week at the mo. There are some other issues too - I notice that my PrintCustTrans.php and WWW_Users.php have introduced a few blemishes - losing session variables for pagesize and the active module for the menu options to show. You can always over-ride the calculated freight cost anyway at the time of invoice - are you talking about at the time of order ? Yes - there are a number ( countless :-( ) of things the system won't currently do as you point out. Not sure how to deal with mutliple taxes on one invoice - any solution is going to be messy I fear. Another few tax fields on the invoice are possiblities but ugly. The system is not set up for multi-currency bank accounts - all bank accounts are in the company's functional currency. There's a whole new can of worms there. For mutli-company log in why not seperate URL's for each company - different logo and company name on the page so all easy?? I think every company will want slightly different stationery - hey you can charge for such modifications and the client/customer feels special and its easy to do as part of the installation. > > Re. ConfirmDispatch_Invoice.php > The change for looking at non-completed items fixes the following scenario : > > 1- Create an order with 4 items > 2- enter the dispatch items page, and enter the full quantity for 2 of the > items, process > 3- main menu and go back to the dispatch page > 4- enter a partial quantity for the remaining 2 items, process > 5- you receive the error "This order has been changed or invoiced ..." - it > is looking for the 2 items that are completed in step 2 > > Re : Custoemr Freight Charge > How about adding an edit box to enter this when the auto-calc flag is off ? > I already had this but didn't merge it. > > Re: Opening in a separate window > I sort of had a feeling this would cause problems on different browsers, I'm > an IE guy so I naively assume anything that works here is OK...well my > rationale for displaying reports in a separate window is : > 1 - to be able to view multiple invoices, recepits at the same time > 2 - pressing "back" from a report display does not usually work > Maybe we could have a way to set the display inline/separate option from > web-erp ? > > Re: Jasper > I agree it's not the way to go now - most low-cost hosting providers do not > even have JSP support so this would be a big limiting factor anyways. Sheirf's comments about opening a new page for reports etc. >Re: Opening in a separate window >I sort of had a feeling this would cause problems on different browsers, I'm >an IE guy so I naively assume anything that works here is OK...well my >rationale for displaying reports in a separate window is : >1 - to be able to view multiple invoices, recepits at the same time >2 - pressing "back" from a report display does not usually work >Maybe we could have a way to set the display inline/separate option from >web-erp ? Using the option in acrobat reader under edit, preferences, options section of this dialog uncheck the option to Display PDF in browser. When the report comes up now it opens (when you click open)acrobat reader in a seperate window. This behaviour is consistent with how it works on other platforms/browsers. Phil |

I took the liberty of setting up a mailing list for us so there are archives of our discussion. Hope you don't mind that I subscribed you both! I uploaded 0.1.10 with the mods in as per Sherif's work last week - I extended the menu EnabledModules to allow a users menu appearance to be modified showing only the modules applicable to the user. I also made a start on the conversion to R&OS class.pdf.php pdf generation. Sadly I notice that it doesn't work on the sourceforge demo - I updated that to 0.1.10 too - nasty message about authorisation to look into some time. Seems to work locally though - its also pretty quick. Sherif mentioned that he would like to integrate a reporting engine Jasper into the system. I'm not so keen really. Phil |
