Rom/Luca, Its gone all quiet! Are you back Luca? Are you with me on the translation? Rom ... I was hoping you'd send me a translated messages.po for the index.php so we could prove the gettext approach. Hope I have not offended anyone? Phil |

Sounds great! Hopefully you will get more help in the future, Phil because you (and webERP) deserve it ;) I wanted to do a lookup or at least hard coded combo box for themes too ;) Ah, the user name should be good. Possibly could have a small Preferences link beside their name instead but either way suffices. Say, we build in Javascript drop-down menus but a user prefers the regular menus and is used to them. Possibly they are running on a slower machine, PDA, etc. and find the Javascript too slow or doesn't work. The Javascript flag allows them to turn on or off the Javascript according to the device they happen to be using and their own preference which is how they work best. Yes, I think that was the problem with those 4 scripts. I will continue to include both diff and files in the future. Whatever's easier/fastest. Hi, Steve/Phill thanks for your comments and help. Sorry for not replying immediately as I was trying to make store flow the way I would like it to function. I hope looking at store will help convey better than I could express in words. Please read on for my reply which is inline. --- skaill <sk...@ro...> wrote: > Phil can correct me if I get anything incorrect > here. If you click at "Your Account" on top or "Login Here" on the right or if you select any product by clicking on "Buy This", all point to webERP login. Where you can check it with the user id "testy" and password "pakbill" (it is a customer login only account). Here again you will find what was outside (before logging in). Here if you select any item by clicking on "Buy This" it should open the webERP ordering page (where a user adds product in webERP to order). We would like here "Buy This" to add products to the customer's order. Any help / tip / suggesstions about the best way to acheive this. > > What webERP does already give > you is a common database for storage of products and > orders. Steve, Many hearty thanks for your latest contributions - it feels absolutely great not to be on my own with this anymore! I included the lot of it with just a couple of mods. I put language in the user settings script and made it look up the available directories for theme and language rather than hard coding them. As discussed I didn't see the requirement for the enable javascript option - this may be my understanding - and I was not keen on the small / two storey quick links. I used the user name as the link to user settings. The scripts that didnt display properly I resolved by including footer.inc and removing the </body></html> from these. I changed references to mysql specific functions to the DB abstraction functions DB_data_seek in ConnectDB.inc. I set $_POST['PageOffset'] = 1; where there was a new search - an error was returned where the previous page offset was too big for a smaller recordset returned with a new search. Got into trouble with SelectProduct.php a bit you may want to have another look but I couldnt get it to select an item. I eventually got it working somewhat but its a bit of a hack with a check to make sure the pageoffset is beyond the max - this caused an error if ($_POST['PageOffset']>$ListPageMax){ $_POST['PageOffset'] = $ListPageMax; } Also the hidden $_POST['Search'] I removed in favour of checking Go, Next and Previous. I also tried to encapsulate all the strings in _("string") for multi-language. I do like the diff file to work through what was actually changed it saves a massive amount of work really - so thanks for making it so easy! If you'd like to, please do add some comment about your contributions in a comment at the start of the script. Phil > A bit of java for the help may be very useful. It is a real pain and > confusing for many users to have the help appear full screen in > browser. You're right though some scripts are more likely to have longer lists. I think the multi-language stuff will work so I'll get into modifying a few scripts for multi language - not on the list above. I guess I did kind of change it without knowing to $DisplayRecordsMax. I'm going to be working on paging the rest of that list of scripts! Wish it was shorter but if it was then webERP would not have so much functionality!!! I think maybe if you put a local php.ini file in the webERP directory then it supercedes the main one on the server. If so, in this way you can modify the settings. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Phil Daintree" <ph...@du...> To: <web...@li...> Cc: "Web ERP Developers" <Web...@li...> Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2004 7:59 PM Subject: [Web-erp-developers] Re: [Web-erp-users] Re: RE: [web-erp - Open Discussion] RE: Wrong order outstdg quantity after placing PO - update > Stephane, > > From the phpinfo.php of the two machines ... Stephane, From the phpinfo.php of the two machines ... I see between the sourceforge.net demo and the production servers are: Sourceforge has: PHP v 4.1.2 - v 4.3.4 in production register_globals = On - off in production server Memory_limit =8M - 40M in production - some larger reports choke without extra RAM available. y2k_compliance = Off - On in prodcuion server session.gc_maxlifetime 3600 production server is only 1440 (security logouts after an hour) PHP as a module - I have it staticly compiled in. It would be interesting to try these changes one at a time to figure this out. Yes I see it and can repeat it now. It does not happen after the first reprint it happens on subsequent reprints though. The javascript switch was meant more for things like standard or alternate (Javascript) drop-down menus. Something that could screw up in Javascript. If we have tested that the Javascript can not possibly screw up but just doesn't work such as focus on a field then it sounds like we probably wouldn't want that switched as you say. I wonder if a setting for enable javascript is necessary - either it works or it doesn't. Since we are only using javascript as gloss on the GUI the system should always be usable with just PHP - as I think we all agree it is just that the focus and perhaps drop down menus could be useful additions to the marketability stuff. Phil can correct me if I get anything incorrect here. It kind of depends on whether you need customer access for ordering or a pretty web storefront for advertising, selling, ordering and paying. webERP, to the best of my knowledge, is not setup to be a storefront, it is an accounting/business/ERP system so the way the customer is going to see the products is the same as the users in the company see them internally. What webERP does already give you is a common database for storage of products and orders. It has mechanisms to create and access orders. It has authentication. Plus creating the web orders directly in webERP means they are ready to move through all the various accounting without any double work and interfacing being necessary. If a nice storefront is needed then that is a separate beast. You would need to either: 1) Enhance webERP to present a nice web store front, display product and organize this customer site in the ways that are appealing. 2) About the same mission as 1 but you take an existing store front and combine it with webERP. However, I doubt there is any cost effective solution out there that provides both full accounting/erp system and fully functional storefront so whichever system you used you would need to do the work explained above anyway. In my opinion you want to go with webERP because it's technology and design make it easier to combine a storefront with it than other systems. Hopefully this helps. You have to merge then manually, because two developers changed the same lines of the code. The amounts of conflicts that it does detect can be reduced by merging frequently to all branches. Ofcourse does testing find the final issues, but when we use CVS right then I am pretty sure that those issues are in 99% of the cases not caused by CVS. CVS checks for conflicts and when it finds some, then it refuses to merge= . You have to merge then manually, because two developers changed the same lines of the code. The amounts of conflicts that it does detect can be reduced by merging frequently to all branches. Ofcourse does testing find the final issues, but when we use CVS right th= en I am pretty sure that those issues are in 99% of the cases not caused by CVS. But ofcourse there will be a learning curve how to use CVS in a proper wa= y. When you still have some doubts, then please discuss it at inf...@gn.... I would be pleased when you are able to define exactly in which cases CVS damages the merging process without returning an error/warning.
